St. Clare of Assisi Third Sunday in Ordinary Time January 23, 2022

ThirdSundayofOrdinaryTime In St. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, it states “If they were all one part, where would the body be? But as it is there are many parts, yet one body” (1 COR 12:18-20). What does this teach us as Christian stewards? It shows us that we all have equal dignity and worth in God’s sight, and that if God sees us as equally precious, we should view each other in this same light. It teaches us to humbly recognize our own gifts as well as the giftedness of every member of our parish family. And, while God designed us to be ultimately dependent on Him, it seems He has also designed us to need each other! This is part of the beauty and richness of a stewardship way of life. No one person can “do it all” in life — whether in family life or parish life. But God does not ask us to do it all. He simply asks us to share the gifts and talents we do have in the season of life we ind ourselves right now. It might feel uncomfortable at irst. But the good news is you don’t have to do it all. Do your part, let your brothers and sisters in the Body of Christ do theirs, and know that the Spirit of the Lord is upon us all as we live out this stewardship way of life.

— Stewardship Re lections by Catholic Stewardship Consultants

WhatisaNovena?Succinctly, a novena is a nine-day period of private or public prayer to obtain special graces, to implore special favors, or make special petitions. (Novena is derived from the Latin novem, meaning nine.) As the de inition suggests, the novena has always had more of a sense of urgency and neediness. I hope you can join me on Wednesday evening this week during our parish holy hour/happy hour when I’ll discuss the Surrender Novena. This novena has been very helpful in my life and has brought much peace to me in dif icult times. I’ll share a little about novenas and we’ll pray the prayers as we sit before our Eucharistic Lord. “Go,eatrichfoodsanddrinksweetdrinks, andallotportionstothosewhohadnothingprepared…”Nehemiah 8:10 Ezra’s instructions to the people show us that God does not forbid us from enjoying the good things in life. He wants us to be happy! However, God expects us to be grateful for all that He has given us and to generously share our blessings with those who are in need. Now here’s the hard part – to share all we have without expecting anything in return.

, ! StudyIn today’s Gospel we hear from St. Luke who is writing about Jesus and His teachings so that he can get to know Jesus better and help to share His message. We can’t give what we don’t have, and we can’t grow closer in our relationship with Jesus unless we communicate with Him and study His teachings and His life. We can do this through Scripture, through the saints, and through each other. “Please, Holy Spirit, inspire all of us to hunger for increased knowledge of Christ. Amen.”

Dear Parishioners, HOORAY for Catholic Schools! Our students and faculty love to show off what makes Catholic schools, and especially St. Clare of Assisi, so amazing. We have an exciting week planned for 2022’s Catholic School Week starting January 30th; we hope that our spirit will be contagious as we celebrate how blessed we are to attend SCA! Our annual Catholic Schools Week Open House is Sunday, January 30 from 9 am to 12 pm. We love to show prospective families all that SCA has to offer through guided tours. Catholic Schools Week is the perfect opportunity for us to express our gratitude for the families who have entrusted their children to us for their education, and for our parish family who generously supports us throughout the year. We are deeply grateful for the trust you have put in us; we are truly Alive in Christ! AngieLindPrincipal
