WAKE UP CALL The Dawgs were on a six-game point streak and had won five straight games at home before last night’s 5-1 loss to the Rivermen. The four-goal margin was Roanoke’s worst defeat this season, setting up an opportunity for them to bounce back tonight in the rematch against Peoria.
TENSIONS FLARE ON FEISTY FRIDAY Roanoke’s Travis Armstrong, Matt O’Dea, and Brant Sherwood all received fighting majors last night, while Peoria’s Francesco Corona and Alec Hagaman also received fighting penalties. Sherwood went after Corona in the second period, which prompted the captains, Armstrong and Hagaman, to enter the fray. O’Dea scrapped with J.M. Piotrowski after Piotrowski collided with Roanoke goalie Henry Dill in the third period. Tonight’s game figures to be no different between these two physical sides.
STUBBS IS STREAKING CJ Stubbs is on a seven-game point streak, dating back to Roanoke’s 3-2 win over Evansville on December 17. Stubbs has tallied three goals and seven assists during that stretch, and the streak is the second-longest for the team this year. Only Jeff Jones had a longer streak, as his eight-game point streak was snapped in last night’s game.
