Song from the album Frozen

"Let It Go"The snow glows white on the mountain

tonightNot a footprint to be seenA kingdom of isolation,

And it looks like I'm the queen.

The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside

Couldn't keep it in, heaven knows I tried!

Don't let them in, don't let them see

Be the good girl you always have to be

Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know

Well, now they know!

Let it go, let it goCan't hold it back anymore

Let it go, let it goTurn away and slam the door!

I don't careWhat they're going to sayLet the storm rage on,

The cold never bothered me anyway!

It's funny how some distanceMakes everything seem small

And the fears that once controlled me

Can't get to me at all!

It's time to see what I can doTo test the limits and break throughNo right, no wrong, no rules for me

I'm free!

Let it go, let it goI am one with the wind and sky

Let it go, let it goYou'll never see me cry!

Here I standAnd here I'll stay

Let the storm rage on!

My power flurries through the air into the ground

My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around

And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast

I'm never going back,The past is in the past!

Let it go, let it goAnd I'll rise like the break of dawn

Let it go, let it goThat perfect girl is gone!

Here I standIn the light of day

Let the storm rage on,The cold never bothered me anyway!

Song from the album Frozen

REVIEWLet It Go is a song from Disney’s 2013 animated feature

film, Frozen. The music and lyrics were composed by husband-and-wife songwriting team, Kristen Anderson-Lopez & Robert Lopez. The song was performed in the original show-tune version in the film by American actress and singer, Idina Menzel in her vocal role as Queen Elsa. Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez also composed simplified pop version (with shorter lyrics and background chorus) which was performed by actress and recording artist, Demi Lovato over the start of the film’s closing credits. A music video was separately released for the pop version. For each song they created, including “Let It Go”, Anderson-Lopez and Lopez recorded a demo in their studio, then emailed it to the Disney Animation Production Team in Burbank. Then, the Disney Animation Production Team agreed to use this song for becoming the original soundtrack for Frozen.

This song tells us that Elsa who played as the main character in the movie, Frozen wanted to hide the fears from everyone who met her, controlled the fears until no one would know about her. She thought that there would be someone who wanted to kill her if they knew something about her magic. So, she decided to hide it all and hide herself forever. But, finally they knew it all and she wanted to throw her fears away and she didn’t want to show it to them. She wanted to feel like she was free and nothing was in her way. When she kept hiding her skills of magic, she couldn’t control her skills and her passions. If we could look at the lyric “Let It Go...”, it seemed like she wanted to take off her fears in the new place where she had been. Then, she realized that there wouldn’t be fears who controlled her anymore like they did to her in the past.

Besides the original English version, Disney Character Voices International decided that Frozen will be dubbed into 42 languages and dialects worldwide, with 41 foreign-language versions of “Let It Go”. A major challange was to find the matching Menzel’s warm vocal tone and vocal range in their native languages. On January 22, 2014, Disney released a multilanguange version of “Let It Go” musical sequence which featured vocal performances of 22 different voice actresses who portrayed Elsa in their respective dubbing versions of the film. The best side of this song is telling us how to face all of the challanges which are standing in front of us.

But, when we look at the music videos which performed by Idina Menzel and Demi Lovato, there are many differences. In the music video which performed by Idina Menzel, it shows Elsa as the main character of Frozen who’s singing “Let It Go” for original version and it makes the music video full of expressions. But, there are differences in the music video which performed by Demi Lovato. The music video looks monotone. Because the video just shows Demi who’s singing the song clip by clip and some actions in the movie, Frozen has been added to this music video. But it doesn’t show us how Elsa sings this song.

Then, we can learn from this song that when we have passions, skills, and potency, we have to show them with a pleasure to everyone because when you hide the passions, skills, and your potency, you can’t control them and make them like “sharp ices”. Finally, you’ll hurt everybody who stands near you with those all “sharp ices”. But if you show with a pleasure and no fears, it will be something beautiful and nice, and there won’t be someone hurt.
