• 1974 Offender breaks into parent’s tavern and is disowned – lives in institutions. Prescribed Mellaril.

• 5/14/1975-5/27/1975 Psychopathic Hospital –psychiatric evaluation. Recommendation: group home placement followed by State Training School if unsuccessful.

• June 9, 1975 – admitted to the Training School at age 16.9. • 12/14/75- placed in the Ames Group Home. • 1/15/1976 – returned to the Training School after running away to Arizona.

Assessment notes deterioration of attitude and behavior. • March 22, 1976. Burglary without aggravation. • July 6, 1976 waived the right to a speedy trial • Feb. 21, 1977 arrest for Feb 18, 1977 theft of a motor vehicle. Upon arrest

discovery of 1000 hits of speed, not charged for the drug offense. • March, 1977 Offender is released by Judge Glenn C. Sedgwick to Lynette

Hanthorn and placed in myhome. During three months of pre-trial release he was in contact with Lynette daily.

• June 1977 Parole officer reports miraculous transformation. Suspended sentence granted.

• July 1977 Sexual crimes committed in my home. • August/September 1977 returned to prison for stolen school television.

There is a growing recognition that as a society we are failing victims and failing offenders and the families of all concerned, that if people are to change, meeting evil with evil may not be the best way.
