9. To consider written proposals if any received by the Secretary

Sri. K.J. Devendappa, Secretary placed before the General Body the letters received by (i) Sri. N. Krishnan (ii) Sri. N. Srinivasan

and (iii) Sri. B.N. Venugopal and Sri. S.A. Govinda Reddy on behalf of other 44 IATians.

i. Sri. N. Krishnan :

Suggested to co-opt a member from Banking sector as M.C. member in order to successfully implement the aims and

objectives of IAT in the overall improvement of Agriculture sector with special reference to Rural development and

empowerment of women in Agriculture.

The President informed the AGM that NABARD has already been nominated as Ex-officio member of the M.C. of IAT. However,

the President assured Mr. Krishnan that a suitable person will be included as a member of Agriculture Policy and Development

sub-committee.

ii. Sri. N. Srinivasan suggested Eight issues for consideration/ discussion, they are

1. Notice book does not contain any Note on achievements or progress of the year 2013-14 with reference to Objectives of

the Institution for which it is established particularly in the field of Technology innovations for increase of food production

touching upon various matters related to Agriculture and Veterinary sciences.

The President clarified that the six Agricultural Universities established in the State will develop the new technologies for the

increase of food production and the respective Departments will work towards the transfer of technology to the farmers and

IAT is also doing the job of technology transfer by way of conducting training programmes at field level in selected villages.

2. No proposals are envisaged to establish modern or digital based library to access latest Technology available worldwide,

for which the Institution is supposed to ponder about in the interest of stake holders- Farmers, students, Research workers,

policy makers, NGOs, Govt./ Semi Govt. Organisations and public in general.

The President clarified that, establishing the modern or digital based library is a difficult task and said even the universities are

not in a position to do it in a proper way and only ISEC is managing. Hence, the Institution will not venture for such an activity

in the near future. Since IAT Library is very small it is not feasible to digitalise at this juncture.

3. Being the State level Apex body supported by Govt. and other Organisations, this Institution should work as a Single

Window Agency to get any information on Agriculture technology, Schemes and Programs being implemented by the Govt.

and other National and International Agencies. Why not do this?

The President clarified that IAT is not a government aided institution and is running on its own. However the Institution is

periodically getting the information on various schemes and the facilities available in the major development departments

like Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Sericulture etc. and whoever approaches this office are suitably advised.

4. It is not known as to whether any proposal is being proposed to build up linkages with all Karnataka based Agri. and Vet.

Sciences and Research stations to collate information on Technology innovations or findings. It is necessary to coordinate

with all such Institutions to update the Technology Advisory Committee of this Institution.

The President clarified that the Institution is in touch with all such Research stations and collects information on a regular

basis.

5. Presently I do not find any mode of drive to enroll new members which is necessary to infuse new blood into the

Institution. Why not establish Centers in all the Districts to enroll all eligible graduates as Members?

The President clarified that the Institution is already having its regional chapters in 13 districts and members are

being enrolled regularly from all over the State and even outside the State and as on this month the membership number

stood at 4072.

6. Presently lot money is being spent to print Newsletters. Do these Newsletters are serving any purpose to propagate

Technology? All letters including the Annual Report contains news of formalities of popularizing the names of few

individuals who welcome, garland, inaugurate, propose vote of thanks which need not be publicized at the cost public

money. Why not look around and see how other Organisations publicise Annual Reports and monthly or quarterly bulletins

and print material of importance.

14January - March 2015

The President clarified that, the Institution is releasing “Krishi Tantrajna” a Newsletter once in a quarter and we are suppose to publish all the activities conducted by the Institution at Bangalore and the regional chapters are covered in the newsletter including the training programmes arranged for the farmers and most of the life members of IAT have appreciated the way in which the Newsletter is published. Similar newsletters are being published in the Agri. Universities, Traditional Universities, KVKS, Alumni Association etc. in the state of Karnataka.

7. Annual General Body meeting can be held within a quarter after the year is completed and it is not fair to discuss budget proposals of 2014-15 when the year is getting almost over. How can the expenditure be incurred without proper sanction? Are you taking the General Body for granted? Please clarify. Please present the proposed budget of 2015-16 and let us discuss on it.

The President assured to take appropriate action to conduct the AGM early and to prepare the budget proposals well in advance after discussing the same in the M.C. meeting.

8. How long do you propose to appoint the same Auditors? New Auditors are to be appointed every 3 years. Please clarify.

The President clarified that, since the this is not a very big organization and as there is no problem with the present Auditors M/s.G.Lakshmipathaiah & Co. changing of the Auditors is not required and the remuneration the institution is paying is also less(Rs.15,000/-P.A. at present).

9. Sri. B.N. Venugopal & Sri. S.A. Govinda Reddy

Requested the Management to provide accommodation in the proposed second floor auditorium, to conduct the meetings of like minded retired IAT members and also to conduct indoor games.

The President informed the august body that the management of IAT is ready to provide accommodation for conduct of meetings provided the meetings are within the norms of IAT. As regards providing space for Indoor games, the President said that the M.C. will decide after the completion of the construction of the Auditorium.

10. Any other subjects :
