1990 March Galileo’s Balls NH C Waddy, P RileySteve Haston may have climbed either Granny Smith or Galileo’s Balls in 1988.Gary Lewis remembers persuading Steve to have a go at an acutely overhangingline. While Gary was sorting out the belay Steve began climbing but then slippedoff and plunged headfirst into the sea. Weighed down with gear, Steve resembled alead weight and Gary had some trouble landing him onto the belay ledge. In truehero style, Steve shook the off excess water and led the bulging wall (Gary did notfollow).
