Dear Parishioners, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our faithful members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church whose generosity allowed us to decorate the church with Easter flowers. I want to thank Grace Cantone, Thomas Kallahan, Jacob Saldivar, and Barbara Lombardo who decorated the church during the Lenten Season and into Holy Week in preparation for Easter. I want to thank John Mancuso and members of the IHM Youth and Young Adult Ministries: Diego Mendez, Audrey DiFusco, Nicholas Jean-Louis, Julia Ocasio, Somer Daniel, Joseph Collins, Phillip Milbouer, and Isabella Vargas for decorating the church for Holy Week and Easter Sunday. And a thank you to Rosa Rosas for preparing all of the Easter holy water bottles that were blessed. You all made these celebrations very spiritual and joyful. God bless you all. I want to congratulate John Hill who received the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil and Kay-la Caruso and Claribel Calle who completed their Sacraments of Initiation by receiving Communion and Confirmation. His Excellency, Auxiliary Bishop of the Brooklyn Diocese, Bishop James Massa, came to celebrate the Easter Vigil Mass and conferred the sacraments. Thank you so much, Bishop Massa, for the inspiring homily and your support to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. I want to thank our Easter Vigil lectors Mary DeBernardo, Judy Morace, and Donna Spoto who read so beautifully. I want to thank our Easter Vigil altar servers Nicholas Jean-Louis, Diego Mendez, Erick Mendez and Isabella Vargas for accepting the call to serve. And to our choir and musicians under the direction of Connor Whelan, you all enhanced the Mass with your beautiful voices and instruments. On Sunday, April 24th, at 4:30 p.m. we will have a healing Mass in English. All are invited to come experience the healing power of Jesus and to carry this peace and healing to your homes. Divine Mercy Sunday is celebrated each year on the Sunday following Easter. Divine Mercy Sunday focuses on the gift of mercy and love given through Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. As St. Pope John Paul II stated, “Divine Mercy reaches human beings through the heart of Christ crucified.” You can learn more about this special devotion on TheDivineMercy.org website. Thank you to those whom have already made an ACA pledge. I appreciate those who have been dis-cerning during Lent and Holy Week about making a pledge. I encourage everyone to make a pledge so that we can achieve our parish goal. Thank you for your generous help and support to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Fr. Gill

FAITH BOOK 2nd Sunday of Easter - (Year C)

April 24, 2022 Acts 5:12-16; Psalm 118

Rev 1:9-11a, 12-13, 17-19; John 20:19-31

From today’s Gospel reading: Thomas said, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nail marks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” Reflection: Many of us can claim kinship to doubting Thomas. We commonly say, “I’ll believe it when I see it.” Jesus counters that attitude when he utters the beatitude, “Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.” That’s us! We don’t see and then believe. Instead, we believe and then see Christ alive in our prayer and our daily lives. So, we ask ourselves:

• What is it in our personal or surrounding world that causes us to doubt our faith in the risen Christ?

• What or who has strengthened our faith in those times?

• What sign of the risen Christ am I to others?

~Preacher Exchange, Jude Siciliano, OP

Are You Aware?

It has been our experience at times that some people may

feel they are not able to receive Communion due to

divorce or other personal issues. Often times, there may

be a misunderstanding regarding Church Teaching in

these matters. You are encouraged to see Fr. Gill,

Deacons Jim, John or Tony for clarity so that you do not

miss the opportunity to celebrate the healing presence of

Jesus in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and in turn come

to the Table of the Lord.
