This column is written by Mary Jo Kunzmann, Judy Reilly, and Nancy Jarvis with the hope that it will help you on

your journey to grow as disciples of Jesus.

The Devil LiesIn order to make your weapons fruitful, be open to Jesus, to the reality of His Kingdom. Pray: Holy Spirit, reveal the Enemy’s lies; illuminate the Father’s love present in Jesus Christ. We are broken people living in a broken world. It’s crucial to know the Enemy’s tactics. Satan can wrap lies around our brokenness. This gives his lies greater control & power over our lives. At his rising Jesus said, “Be not afraid.” Nothing can separate us from the love of God when we follow Jesus.

Excerpts from The 10 Biggest Lies of the Enemy, Deacon Keith Strohm, p.34

LOST AND FOUNDWelcome to “Lost and Found Sunday”! Just in case being in church makes us proudly consider ourselves especially religious, today’s Gospel suggests that we’d be wiser to admit that we’re sometimes lost. Then we’ll eventually be happily counted among Jesus’ “found,” because today Jesus focuses on a lost sheep, lost coin, lost son. Jesus does so because the Pharisees and scribes, proudly considering themselves especially religious, “began to complain” that Jesus “welcomes sinners and eats with them.” So Jesus warns them—and us—to stop judging others. Marvel instead that God’s amazing grace has found us! Indeed, we should become Jesus’ friends lovingly trying to find others. So Exodus asks, if God “relented in punishment” and pardoned us, shouldn’t we forgive fellow sinners graciously? Even Paul admits his “arrogance” as “foremost among sinners.” We too, happy at being “mercifully treated,” should share with everyone else Jesus’ unfailing patience. Copyright (c) J. S. SCHOOL E-NEWSLETTERSt. Francis de Sales School, a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, offers the traditional Catholic experience as children learn in a supporting community strong in faith in Jesus Christ. We are blessed with a dedicated faculty and a vibrant community of families. We are truly all for one and one for all in Jesus Christ. Check out this week’s school newsletter to stay up to date with events and all things St. Francis! https://conta.cc/2yFxP0O

The precepts of the Church are a description of the absolute minimum actions required of Catholics regarding the Church. The Church uses these precepts to remind us that Christian life requires commitment to prayer and active participation in the liturgy and sacraments. If we fall below this bare-minimum level, we can't rightly consider ourselves to be in full communion with the Catholic Church. Each of these precepts of the Catholic Church is a requirement. Together with the 10 Commandments, they represent the minimum level of moral living. Intentional violation of the precepts or the Commandments is a grave matter, meaning a moral sin.

You are not alone.

A while ago, I made the decision to have an abortion. It was, after all, my right to choose. But now, as I look back on it, I realize that something else besides my baby died inside of me that day.

I made a private choice. But it became a secret burden.

If you feel this way, there’s hope. Please call our confidential

helpline to speak with people who will not condemn you for your decision. Take the first step toward healing by calling:

Every time the handbell group plays at masses, we always receive so many compliments and comments from the people in the pews. Everyone seems to love listening to those bells. Have you ever thought maybe you would like to try ringing handbells? Do you know someone who has experience ringing and might like to join us? Being a member of our parish is not a requirement; we are open to high school age and older. In the past year, we have lost 3 members due to moving out of the area and/or retiring. They each have played in the group for many years. Our group is seeking new members. If you can read music and can count rhythms, maybe you would like to try bells. We would be glad to teach you the skills and techniques of ringing. If you are interested, contact Pat Stewart either by email or phone, or talk with me at mass on weekends. We look forward to meeting you. [email protected] // 847-726-4720

A resurrection choir is a group of parishioners/choir members/cantors who are looking for a way to show their support to parish families who are mourning a loss. If you enjoy singing, have a nice voice, and are looking for a way to help others, this group might be for you. There are no rehearsals and no commitment to be at every funeral. We arrive a half-hour before the funeral; we sing refrains and hymns with the congregation. There is always a cantor to sing the psalm and any solo that is needed. If you have a flexible work schedule, are a stay-at-home parent, or retired, maybe this is the ministry you are looking for. We are called to be disciples of Christ, and this is a wonderful way to serve. For more information, contact Pat Stewart by email, phone, or talk to me on the weekends at mass. THE IMPORTANCE OF EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Pope Francis leads Benediction outside the Basilica of St. Mary Major at the conclusion of the Corpus Christi procession in Rome May 30. (CNS photo/Paul Haring)The importance of Eucharistic Adoration is shown in the fact that the Church has a ritual that regulates it: the Rite of Eucharistic Exposition and Benediction. This is an extension of the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament which occurs in every Mass: “Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.” Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament flows from the sacrifice of the Mass and serves to deepen our hunger for Communion with Christ and the rest of the Church. The Rite concludes with the ordained minister blessing the faithful with the Blessed Sacrament. - taken from the USCCB website

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us

in battle. Be our protection against the

wickedness and snares of the devil. May

God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do

thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the

divine power of God, cast into hell Satan,

and all the evil spirits, who prawl about the

world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
