THE PRAYER PROCESS

GRATITUDE: Begins by thanking God in a personal

dialogue for whatever you are most grateful for today.

AWARENESS: Revisit the times in the past twenty-

four hours when you were and were not the-best-

version-of-yourself. Talk to God about these situations

and what you learned from them.

SIGNIFICANT MOMENTS: Identify something you

experienced in the last twenty-four hours and explore

what God might be trying to say to you through that

event (or person).

PEACE: Ask God to forgive you for any wrong you

have committed (against yourself, another person, or

Him) and to fill you with a deep and abiding peace.

FREEDOM: Speak with God about how He is invit-

ing you to change your life, so that you can experience

the freedom to be the-best-version-of-yourself.

OTHERS: Lift up to God anyone you feel called to

pray for today, asking God to bless and guide them.

Pray the Our Father.

The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being ex-posed to this COVID-19 virus. You can take steps to slow the spread. • Maintain good social distance (about 6 feet). This is

very important in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

• Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

• Routinely clean and disinfect frequently touched sur-faces.

• Cover your mouth and nose with a mask when around others.

LAUDATO SI

Season of Creation 2020 Prayer

Creator of Life, in your wisdom, you granted a Sabbath,

a blessed time to rest in gratitude for all you have given;

a time to liberate ourselves from vicious consumption; a

time to allow the land and all creatures to rest from the

burden of production. But these days our living pushes

the planet beyond its limits. Our demands for growth,

and our never'ending cycle of production and consump-

tion are exhausting our world. The forests are leached,

the topsoil erodes, the fields fail, the deserts advance ,

the seas acidify, the storms intensify. We have not al-

lowed the land to observe her Sabbath, and the earth is

struggling to be renewed.

Dear Parishioners,

There are thousands of books available that offer readers the secret of happiness in this life. I guess none are definitive since more are published each year. How lucky you are that the church will read to you from sacred scripture today about attitudes and actions that can actually lead to your happiness and fulfillment. Let go of anger, the wisdom of Sirach imparts. Forgive your neighbor. Remember the commandments. Overlook faults. If you want to be treated with kindness and mer-cy, treat others that way says Jesus. Maybe the secret to happiness isn’t a secret after all?

In Christ, Father Bob

Trebuchet MS 14 Box Tops for Education

Words of Life! “By our baptism, we are members of Christ’s body and sharers in his mission. Imitating Christ, we must care for all members of our communities, honoring each per-son as unique, sacred, and created in the image of God.”

USCCB, “Open Wide Our Hearts”

Sister Nora’s Notes

A priest of the Albany Diocese told

this story about how he and his moth-

er would always end their phone calls

by singing together “You are my sun-

shine, my only sunshine…”. One of

the last times he talked with her on

the phone before she died, after they

sang their song together, he said “Thanks, Mom, for

teaching me that song.” She said, “I didn’t teach it to

you, I sang it for you, and you loved it so much you

learned it for yourself”. It seems to me that the same is

true for handing on our faith to our children. We only

need to share our faith, traditions and stories, and they

will love what we have loved, and learn to believe and

trust in a God who is ever present, kind and merci-

ful. Blessings on our Religious Education programs

that begin this week.

Box Tops for Education For those of you not familiar with Box

Tops, General Mills has a program that pays

$.10 for every Box Top that we submit to them. Please

leave them in the box at the main entrance at the church

or put them in an envelope in the collection basket.

Thank you all for your efforts and support of our

school.
