The Opportunity: Corporate Controller Heavy has an exciting opportunity for a talented professional to join their growing team as Corporate Controller. Reporting to the President, the Corporate Controller plays a key role on the Heavy corporate management team having the accountability to provide a full range of accounting and finance support to the company while leading a small team. The Controller is responsible for all facets of fiscal stewardship for the company. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, ongoing development of a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, continually enhancing the accuracy of the Company’s reported financial results and ensuring the reported results comply with GAAP/ASPE. From an HR perspective, the incumbent will also provide some support when required. The Corporate Controller will participate at a strategic level, providing valuable financial and accounting insight to the executive team for decision making, while at the same time working at the tactical level providing day to day services to the organization. This is both a strategic and a “hands-on” role.

Duties & Responsibilities The Corporate Controller is responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, payroll, foreign currency hedging and margin preservation, cash flow planning, tax planning, auditor and banking relationships, treasury and investment strategies and is expected to play a role is business growth and strategy discussions. This role requires attention to detail and execution of deliverables. Accounting:

• Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions • Ownership of ERP maintenance and addons • Perform variance analysis on project costs and revenues

• Prepare bank account reconciliations • Prepare monthly journal entries • Bank setup, covenant reporting, treasury and cashflow • Prepare monthly financials statements, • Lead the month end process for project management teams, forecasting and reporting−job costing • Efficient and effective financial project reporting • Coordinate and lead accounting consultants, year end reviews and all external reporting reviews

including related companies. • Comply with CRA reporting/filing requirements, provide financial governance for the organization • Liaison with banking representatives and cheque signors • Budget preparation and monthly review of budget to actual • Capital replacement budgeting • Forecasting Report and Process • Review Indirect cost allocations • Ensure filing space for accounting and employee files • Commercial and auto insurance Renewals annually • Board and management meetings • Assist with SRED submission

Accounts Receivable/Payable:

• Follow up with outstanding accounts receivable • Processing of payments for supplier invoices and reconciliation of supplier accounts • Review open PO and subcontractor reports monthly • Process deposits • Approval of MSA’s • Vendor and Customer set-up/maintenance back-up

Payroll and HR:

• Oversee payroll software as necessary • Prepare payroll • Setup job ads, new employees • Complete annual T4 and PEER reviews

• Annual WCB payroll submission (Alberta, BC, Ontario, Saskatchewan) • Publish office closures and holidays • Handbook reviews and updates • Benefits administrator and liaison • Liaise with HR consultant as necessary • Performance review reminders and procedure • ROE’s, letters, and Exit Interviews • Roll out government grant education funding • Assist in summer hiring grants

Office & Admin Team Management:

• Manage office administrator(s) and their respective duties • Coach, mentor and train all admin staff • Supervise reconciliation of credit cards and fleet cards • Issue credit cards and fleet cards • Oversight and coordination of IT services leveraging SME

The Person To be successful in this role you have: • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 5-7 years of accounting and business experience, at least 2 of which

is in a supervisory capacity. • Professional designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CA/CGA/CMA) is required. Additional

education including a CFA or MBA will be considered an asset. • Experience leading and mentoring a team. • Excellent analysis skills, knowledge of GAAP/ASPE and the ability to collaborate with a multi-department

team. • Experience working in a project environment and operations knowledge would be an asset. • Superior computer skills including previous experience in the set-up, integration and implementation of

solutions including MS Office Suite programs, QuickBooks, NetSuite and Microsoft Dynamics an asset.
