Answering Legal Future Attorneys of American Scholarship Our initiative Answering Legal’s Future Attorneys of America Scholarship is dedicated in choosing one law student, of academic excellence, every year and awarding them with the FAAS merit scholarship.

Answering Legal’s Future Attorneys of America Scholarship of $5000 is open to dedicated law students who meet the following criteria:

Cross & Smith Offering Annual $1,000 College Scholarship Cross & Smith is a Tuscaloosa law firm that handles personal injury, wrongful death and insurance cases throughout the State of Alabama. Attorneys Dell Cross and Justin Smith have been frequent lecturers statewide in the area of civil litigation and have written and spoken at several legal education seminars across the state. The firm’s main office is located in Tuscaloosa, AL, but they have an additional office in Birmingham, AL.

The firm believes giving back to the community is an important part of making a positive impact. The Society for Applied Anthropology (SfAA) announces an annual student research competition in the applied social and behavioral sciences. The first place winner of the Competition will receive a cash prize of $3,000 as well as $350 to partially offset the cost of transportation and two nights lodging at the annual meeting of the Society. In addition, the winner receives an engraved crystal trophy. Cash prizes of $1,500 to second place and $750 to third place will also be awarded, as well as a $350 travel stipend and two nights lodging.

The award honors the late Peter Kong-ming New, a distinguished medical sociologist-anthropologist and former president of the SfAA. The award will be given to the best paper which reports on an applied research project in the social/behavioral sciences. The research question should be in the domain of health care or human services (broadly construed). The paper must be submitted to the SfAA Business Office no later than November 30 through the online form.

Prizes Published Papers

The Competition is open to any person who was registered as a student at the graduate or undergraduate level in a college or university during the most recent calendar year. An eligible student is one who does not have a previously-earned doctoral degree. For example, a person with an M.D. degree who is registered as a student in a Ph.D. program is not eligible, and vice versa.

To be eligible, the manuscript should report on research that in large measure has not been previously published. The competition will be limited to manuscripts that have a single author; multiple-authored papers will not be eligible.

The winner of the Competition must be available to attend the annual meeting of the Society and present the paper. The winner is also expected to submit the paper to our journal, Human Organization, for review and possible publication. Students who have previously won either first or second place in the Peter K. New Competition are not eligible in subsequent years.

The Floyd Mayweather Jr. Foundation: Advancement of Women in Sports & Entertainment Scholarship

Fall 2020 Submission Deadline: June 14, 2020

Spring 2021 Submission Deadline: November 17, 2020

The Floyd Mayweather Jr. Foundation Scholarship for the Advancement of Women in Sports & Entertainment is intended for eligible college undergraduate and graduate school women who desire to work and contribute their efforts within the field. Due to the underrepresentation of this demographic in the industry, this scholarship fund has been established in order to aid women in furthering their education, encourage their valued participation in the profession, and benefit the profession as a whole.

The scholarship in the amount of $1,000 is granted to eight applicants annually who are matriculating full-time in their undergraduate sophomore, junior, senior or first year of graduate school. A minimum G.P.A. of 2.75 is required and applicants are required to be enrolled in one of the following majors in order to be eligible: Communication Studies, Marketing, Public Relations, Media Studies or Journalism.

In addition, applicants must meet each of the following criteria to maintain eligibility:

1) Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident of the United States.

2) Full-time enrollment required at a four-year accredited university.

3) Must be a Public Relations, Communication, Media Studies, Marketing or Journalism major with a desire to work in the entertainment or sports industry.

4) Must be able to demonstrate financial need and provide proper documentation upon request.

5) Must be a female residing in the United States.

Applicants who have submitted completed applications, and who meet the eligibility requirements aforementioned, will be notified via email or phone on a rolling basis if selected as a scholarship recipient. Further, recipients may be subject to verify that allotted funds are spent on tuition, fees, and/or supplies.
