THEME “EAT RIGHT, BITE BY BITE” NSS unit of GGM SCIENCE COLLEGE organized an “Intercollegiate National Online Poster Making Competition” on 7 th Sept. 2020 celebrating NUTRITION WEEK. The aim of the competition was to spread awareness about the importance of eating a healthy and balanced diet for healthy life. The topic for the competition was “Importance of Dietary Habits to boost Immunity” 3. Theme: ‘Teachers: Leading in Crisis, Reimagining the Future’ NSS unit of GGM Science College, Jammu collaborated to organize an Intercollegiate Online Video Making Competition on September 5, 2020. However, teachers across the world were up to the challenge and reinvented themselves. THEME DONATE GENEROUSLY WITHOUT PRIDE NSS G.G.M Science College celebrated 4 TH -5 TH Sept. World Charity Day by pledge taking and slogan writing on 4 th sept. The volunteers took pledge and made placards saying Charity the supreme humanity. The volunteers took part in donation drive also on 5 th sept. visiting slum area near Trikuta Nagar to distribute mask and sanitizers. They also made them aware by teaching them how to protect themselves from this pandemic. The volunteers distributed things people use in their daily life near his home in Samba District. 5. INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY NSS unit of GGM SCIENCE COLLEGE organized a Intercollegiate National short article writing competition on the eve of INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY 8 th Sept. 2020. With the topic “CHALLENGES FACED BY STUDENTS IN ONLINE EDUCATION”. 6. FIT INDIA THEME: AWARENESS TO BE FIT NSS unit GGM SCIENCE COLLEGE organized a RAPID-FIRE QUIZ for FIT INDIA 2020. The link opened on 9 th September 2020 for 15 min from 1pm to 1.15 pm. 117 students participated. E-certificates were given to those who got 60% and above.

1. THEME: BE INSPIRED

NSS unit GGM Science College celebrated National Sports Day 29th Aug. 2020. Due to pandemic NSS volunteers

2. THEME “EAT RIGHT, BITE BY BITE”

NSS unit of GGM SCIENCE COLLEGE organized an “Intercollegiate National Online Poster Making

Competition” on 7th Sept. 2020 celebrating NUTRITION WEEK. The aim of the competition was to spread

awareness about the importance of eating a healthy and balanced diet for healthy life. The topic for the competition

was “Importance of Dietary Habits to boost Immunity”

3. Theme: ‘Teachers: Leading in Crisis, Reimagining the Future’

NSS unit of GGM Science College, Jammu collaborated to organize an Intercollegiate Online Video Making

Competition on September 5, 2020. The unique situation created by the pandemic – lockdown; social distancing;

schools and colleges being closed - changed the entire dynamic of the teacher-taught relationship. However, teachers

across the world were up to the challenge and reinvented themselves. Therefore, original videos were invited from

students on the topic ‘Gratitude to Teachers: Keeping the Doors of Learning Open in COVID-19’.

4. THEME DONATE GENEROUSLY WITHOUT PRIDE

NSS G.G.M Science College celebrated 4TH -5TH Sept. World Charity Day by pledge taking and slogan writing on

4th sept. The volunteers took pledge and made placards saying Charity the supreme humanity. The volunteers took

part in donation drive also on 5th sept. visiting slum area near Trikuta Nagar to distribute mask and sanitizers. They

also made them aware by teaching them how to protect themselves from this pandemic. The volunteers distributed

things people use in their daily life near his home in Samba District.

5. INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY

NSS unit of GGM SCIENCE COLLEGE organized a Intercollegiate National short article writing competition on

the eve of INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY 8th Sept. 2020. With the topic “CHALLENGES FACED BY

STUDENTS IN ONLINE EDUCATION”.

6. FIT INDIA THEME: AWARENESS TO BE FIT

NSS unit GGM SCIENCE COLLEGE organized a RAPID-FIRE QUIZ for FIT INDIA 2020. The link opened on

9th September 2020 for 15 min from 1pm to 1.15 pm. 117 students participated. E-certificates were given to those

who got 60% and above.

7. THEME: LIFE TO BE LIVED

Two-day interactive session was organized by NSS unit on World suicide prevention day. The aim of the counselling

session on 10th sept. was to make students speak out. Volunteers wrote inspirational lines and poetry on topic YES,

I LOVE LIFE. On Sept. 11, the volunteers have a positive discussion on selfless working of NSS.

8. THEME: PROMOTING HINDI LANGUAGE

NSS UNIT OF GGM Science College organized an inter collegiate quiz for HINDI DIWAS 2020 in hindi language.

The link opened on 14th Sept. at 11am and closed at 2 pm. About 260 students participated from different colleges

and universities of J&K UT. E-certificates were given to all who got 60% and above.

9. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF DEMOCRACY 15th SEPTEMBER, 2020

NSS volunteer Mitali Rathore very beautifully presented video on Role of NSS in understanding democracy

10. THEME: 32 YEARS AND HEALING PROTECT THE OZONE LAYER

NSS UNIT OF GGM Science College organized an inter collegiate quiz for OZONE DAY. The link opened on 16th

Sept. 2020 at 11 am and closed at 2 pm. 322 students from different colleges and universities of J&K Ladakh UT

participated. E-certificates were given to those who got 70% and above.

11. Theme: “SHAPING PEACE TOGETHER”

NSS unit of G.G.M Science College organized a webinar on International Peace Day with the theme “SHAPING

PEACE TOGETHER” The event was chaired by vice Principal Prof. Anil Verma. The Peace Day provides a globally

shared day for humanity to commit to peace above all differences and to contribute building a culture of peace.

International Peace Day is observed around the world each year on 21 September. 2020 theme “Shaping Peace

Together” is to celebrate the day by spreading compassion, kindness and hope in the face of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Speaker on the occasion was Dr. Veena Rani, HOD Humanities and Associate Professor from GCET Jammu. She

delivered her lecture on the topic “COVID 19 Pandemic and attainment of everlasting peace as per VEDIC

Philosphy”.

12. NSS DAY 24TH SEPT. 2020

NSS volunteers GGM Science for the very first time presented a virtual awareness cultural program on the link

motivational videos, awareness skits on swachta and covid 19, display their art work insta sketching and reuse of

waste items, musical dance cultural program And the most important about NSS, motto, why to join NSS. NSS in

G.G.M Science College. All clubbed together in a single video of 31 min. duration. First of its type.

13. Seven DAY ORIENTATION WORKSHOP FOR NSS

DAY 1 22nd sept The workshop was inaugrated by the welcome address by NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan. To build

empathy in ourselves to be a good human being. SHARE THE RIBBON to show support for those fighting cancer,

those who survived cancer and those who lost to this terrible disease.

DAY 5 26th sept Webinar by Jasvir Singh Indira Gandhi NSS National Award winner TOPIC: NSS In Personality

Development, Community Service, Nation Building, COVID and in Post -Covid Period. Followed by Drug

abuse awareness program.

DAY 6 27th sept Virtual tours of JK on WORLD TOURISM DAY Theme Role of NSS in promoting our tourism

NSS volunteers worked today in teams to learn to work in coordination.

DAY 7 28th sept Prof. Shalini Rana Associate Professor the GCOE was the guest speaker of the webinar. Topic Role

of NSS in National development Followed by pledge by volunteers Yes, I will work for nation. The workshop

concluded by online MCQs on the basis of the different activities done.

14. NEP 2020

NSS unit GGM Science College organized Shikshak Parv NEP 2020 inter collegiate quiz. The link opened on 29th

Sept. at 3 pm and closed at 4 pm. E certificates were given to those who got 80% and above. About 164 students

from 30 different colleges and universities participated.

15. THREE DAY JAN ANDOLAN CAMPAIGN ON COVID-19 AWARENESS

8TH, 12-13th OCTOBER, 2020

NSS unit GGM Science College took pledge by NSS volunteers to fight against corona. To prevent the spread of

deadly virus, to encourage others to follow the key Covid appropriate behaviors, to always wear mask at public

places, to maintain min distance of 6 feet, to wash hands frequently with soap and water on 8th Oct. 2020 at 1 pm.

Together we will win this fight against Covid 19. 12-13 Oct. 2020. As a part of JAN ANDOLAN CAMPAIGN -ON

COVID-19 NSS volunteers took part in Poster making and pledge taking with theme Together we will fight against

covid 19.

16. THEME: RISING STUDENTS

Three-day workshop theme Rising Students was organized from 14th – 16th October 2020 on WORLD STUDENTS

DAY 15th OCTOBER, 2020. NSS volunteers paying tribute to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on his birth anniversary by

17. THEME: BEING THEIR FOR EVERY GIRL CHILD

NSS volunteers took part in three-day workshop 9th – 11th oct. 2020 BEING THEIR FOR EVERY GIRL CHILD

and published online first inspirational E- book HER WINGS UNFOLDED on International Day of Girl Child 11th

18. EK BHARAT SHRESTH BHARAT

NSS unit GGM Science College organized inter collegiate slogan writing. National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta

Diwas 31st October 2020 is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of IRON MAN of India Sardar Vallabhbhai

Patel who unified the country. To commemorate 145th birth anniversary and to re-affirm the inherent strength and

resilience of our nation and recalling the mantra “EK BHARAT SHRESTH BHARAT” Students of different colleges

of JK UT participated in slogan writing with theme TOGETHERNESS LEADS TO HARMONY; HARMONY

LEADS TO PEACE.

30th SEPTEMBER -2nd OCTOBER 2020

DAY 1: PLANTATION DRIVE

On the occasion of celebration of 151th birth anniversary of father of nation Mahatma Gandhi NSS units of GGM

Science College organized various activities and events scheduled for three days. On 30th September, Plantation

drive in college premises was done by the units by planting 5 saplings of Thevitia nerifolia ( Kaner)and Mangifera

indica (Mango).The aim of today's event was to aware to save earth by planting caring trees and to learn how this

pandemic made clear the importance of hygiene. As Gandhiji always emphasized on building cleaner healthy

environment. NSS Volunteers participated from home planting trees in homes and localities. Another activity done

by NSS Volunteers was Plantation drive from home with theme: ONE VOLUNTEER ONE PLANT @STAY

DAY 2: BLOOD DONATION PLEDGE DRIVE

As Gandhi ji said "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others". Today on National

Volunteers Blood Donation Day Blood Donation drive was carried via Google form followed by Pledge taking by

volunteers and cadets.The pledge to be a blood donar so as to meet the adequate demand of blood for all. I hence

pledge to give the Gift of Life. The webinar was organized with theme "Save Blood Save Lives" Dr. Meena Sidhu,

Professor and Head Deptt of Transfusion Medicine Govt. Medical College, Jammu. She delivered a motivational

awareness informative talk for young minds especially in the time of pandemic when many lives are saved by plasma

donors. The main objectives being. To increase awareness among the people and the importance of voluntary blood

donation, To achieve 100 percent Voluntary Blood Donation, so as to be able to give the safest blood to the needy

patients, To have enough blood stock in our blood banks for any eventuality, To give our thanks and reinforce the

self-esteem of those who donate blood voluntarily, so that they continue to do so regularly

DAY 3: 2nd OCTOBER INTERNATIONAL DAY OF NON-VIOLENCE

The day started with bhajan VAISHNO JAN TO by video by NSS Volunteer showing 7 sins Gandhiji said not to do,

the teachings all should follow. The webinar with theme Gandhian Philosophy A way forward to Sustainable Peace

and Development was delivered by Dr. Ashaq Malik PG College Rajouri. In addition to this NSS volunteers

participated in poem recitation on Gandhian Philosophy. The main aim being to guide youth to follow the principles

given by Gandhiji: Live life to the fullest, always speak the truth, Let the change begin from you, Believe in love,

Think before you act, Live to learn, Be positive, Learn to forgive, Be true to yourself, Care for mother earth.

THE MAGIC OF ILLUMINATION. Be a Diya for others LITTLE BY LITTLE………..LET’S MAKE A

LOT. From 7th Nov. onwards the volunteers collected warm clothes, toys, books, diyas, candles, etc. with the aim

Be a cause of someone’s happiness; filling their lives with the glow of happiness. Let’s contribute our little Let’s

make DIWALI HAPPY DIWALI. They packed and organized the collected things. NSS UNIT on 10th and 11th

Nov. distributed warm clothes, shoes, toys, books and other items to needy under privileged people in various

parts of Jammu city like MANA BASTI, slum area near Sarwal Hospital, Trikuta nagar, Bawe, etc. Like the

colours of RANGOLI may this DIWALI brightens up our life, NSS Volunteers participated in Rangoli

competition with aim to lighten up our college campus with beautiful rangolis on 10th Nov.The event was judged

by Dr. Sushma Sharma Dept. of Zoology and Dr. Anju Dept. of Physics. The first position was bagged by team

of Shrenya School of Sciences, second position was taken by team of Shagun and third was bagged by Muskan

and team GGM Science College CLUJ. The artistic and noble cause by NSS volunteers were praised by worthy

Principal sir and they motivated students to use their skills in life to reach their goals. DIWALI FOR LOCAL

12th -13th Nov. NSS Volunteers campaigned for vocal for local Atmanirbhar Bharat. Let’s pledge to buy things

from local vendors promoting them and doing our little contribution.

20. NATIONAL CONSTITUTION DAY 26th NOV. 2020

Preamble reading in oval lawn college campus at 11 am by Principal and staff teaching, non-teaching. E Declamation

was organized by NSS. Volunteers participated and spoke online via google meet with theme Importance of

Samvidhan Diwas.

22. WORLD HUMAN RIGHT’S DAY 10th DECEMBER 2020

NSS GGM Science College celebrated World's Human Right Day by online campaigning with theme Recover

Better - Stand Up for Human Rights. This year's Human Rights Day theme relates to the COVID-19 pandemic

and focuses on the need to build back better by ensuring Human Rights are central to recovery efforts. Slogans,

posters, video were made by NSS volunteers.

23. VIJAY DIWAS 16th DECEMBER 2020

NSS GGM Science College celebrated VIJAY DIWAS 16th Dec. 2020 To mark the decisive victory over Pakistan

in 1971 war, volunteers pay their tributes to the supreme sacrifice of soldiers.

24. COME OUT AND PLAY 19th DECEMBER 2020

Nss volunteers today organised a local level badminton tournament for kids to promote sports among them. The

theme of the tournament was 'COME OUT AND PLAY' Around 15 kids participated in it and medals were given

to the winners.

25. THEME: AWARENESS AND SHARING TWO DAY WORKSHOP 24th -25th DECEMBER 2020

DAY 1 THEME CONSUMER AWARENESS

Every year 24th December is observed as National Consumer Day, to highlight the importance of consumer movement

as well as the need to make every consumer more aware of their rights and responsibilities. NSS G.G.M Science

College organized RAPID FIRE e - QUIZ with the Theme CONSUMER AWARENESS. The link opened at 11 am

and closed at 12 pm on 23-12-2020.E- Certificates were given to students securing 80% and above.

DAY 2 THEME: Tree of Happiness

NSS GGM Science College organized the event sharing smiles in college campus. The volunteers decorated the tree

with gifts and distributed the gifts for the children to the daily wager employees of the college.

27. 5 DAY INDUCTION WORKSHOP FOR NSS VOLUNTEERS

Google form was circulated via whatsapp. New volunteers filled and submitted enrollment forms. The interaction

was carried out by senior volunteers via google meet. The selected volunteers filled NSS forms. Submitted forms in

college. Pledge was taken in college campus.

28. THEME: BEING A CITIZEN OF INDIA 23rd -25th Jan., 27th Jan. 2021

A four-day workshop organized by NSS UNIT to learn being a responsible citizen of INDIA

23rd Jan. : E quiz tribute to Netaji

Remembering Netaji Subash Chander Bose on his Birth anniversary. NSS unit GGM Science College organized

online quiz competition on 23rd Jan 2021. The link opened at 11 am and closed on 1 pm. This year celebrating

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s 125th birth anniversary as “Parakram Diwas” to honour his “selfless service”

to the country. About 250 students participated. E certificates were given to those who secured 80% and above.

Let’s perform our duty first. Volunteers used the waste/ discarded material and made items out of it. About 70

volunteers participated.Exhibition was organized on 27th Jan. 2021 Volunteers displayed their items in college

campus and Appreciated by worthy Principal and college staff.

31. NATIONAL ROAD SAFETY MONTH

This year instead of "Road, Safety Week", a month-long campaign "National Road Safety Month" will be

observed from 18th January 2021 to 17th February 2021. The theme of this year is, "Sadak Suraksha-

Jeevan Raksha". Indian Road Safety Campaign is leading youth engagement in road safety across the nation.

• Inaugural ceremony at GULSHAN GROUND on 18th January for celebration of 32nd National road

safety month 2021.

• Students March from Gulshan ground to Green belt park to aware people about road safety.

• Symposium at university auditorium on the topic "Awareness about road safety "on 4th feb 2021.

NSS volunteers participated and got 1st 2nd and two consolation prizes.

• Online seminar had been conducted on 9th feb 2021 with the help of many participants and the topic

was "women's safety on road." Resource person was Mr. Dhananter singh.RTO Jammu

• Online seminar had been conducted on 10th feb 2021 on the topic basic knowledge about road and

the resource person was SSP Traffic Jammu, SHIV KUMAR SHARMA

• Valedictory on 17th feb at POLICE AUDITORIUM. Cultural programme organised by GGM Science

College CLUJ and we got prize for the same.

32. Two-day Drug De-Addiction Workshop

NSS unit GGM Science College CLUJ organized a two-day workshop Drug De- addiction on 22nd and 23rd Feb

2021. On the first day 45 NSS volunteers participated in poster making awareness theme Say No To Drugs

following all the SOPs. On second day an awareness program was organized. The guest of honour was Sh. Vinay

Sharma SSP Anti Narcotic Task Force JK UT, 2001 Batch KPS Officer. He has got a Gallentry Medal and DGP

Medal, Chief Secretary's letter of Appreciation for anti enchrochment drives in Jammu and has been rewarded by

MHA for actions against Drug Smugglers.The event started with welcome adress by NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan.

Young minds can bring new perspectives influencing outcomes in new and unexpected way as active contributors

and the change must start from an individual. Followed by lightening of lamp by dignitries, saraswati vandna by

Divya, Sonal and Vishakha. Compering was done by Parul and Priya. Volunteers Mohd. Ali, Shaaku, Farzana,

Ritesh, Gokul and Tushar spoke about drug abuse and de addiction in hindi eng and dogri. Rap song on theme was

performed by Bhanu.The chief guest Sh. Vinay sharma had a heartily fruitful interaction with the students motivating

and inspiring them with his personal experiences. Substance abuse disorder is chronic disease which eats up the

entire fabric of a society. The need to cultivate holistic approach taking care of soul mind body and heart releasing

happy dopamine indulging in meditation artistic sport activities can help youth a lot. Removing stigma and helping

G.G.M Science College celebrated National Science Day with the theme 'Future of STI: Impact on Education Skills

and Work' on 26th Feb. 2021. About 20 young scientists participated in power point presentation competition and

presented their innovative scientific skill ideas. The different ideas presented were Mofs and porous materials for

water harvesting, future of augmented reality and virtual reality in education, Digital networking, hemp key to

sustainable future, multi grafting techniques, remote sensing, drone monitoring, thermal imaging, hydro power,

augmented virtual reality, future of STI, global warming, air pollution control etc. The event was judged by Dr.

Pankaj Bhandhoria and Dr. Sakha Sharma. The first, second and third prize was bagged by Preeti, Aanish, Sahil and

Arzoo. The consolation certificates were given to Sajal, Uzma and Tejal. The certificates were given to all students

by worthy Principal with the kind words of wisdom. Their efforts were much appreciated and encouraged by the

34. International women’s day theme Choose to challenge

GGM Science College NSS celebrated International Women's Day 8th March 2021 theme Choose to Challenge.

This day is symbolic of the historic journey women around the world have taken to better their lives. NSS volunteers

wrote slogans made posters and took pledge to create awareness that a " challenged world is an alert world, and from

challenge comes change" in the two-day workshop on 7th-8th March 2021, A reminder that while a lot has been

achieved, the journey is long and a lot more needs to be done

35. Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav 12th March 2021

GGM Science College under the patronage of worthy Principal Dr. Ravender Tickoo started Azadi Ka Amrut

Mahotsav celebrations to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India's independence. On 12th March, 1930,

Gandhi ji began the 390 kilometres March from Sabarmati to Dandi, with 78 of his trusted volunteers. The Salt

Satyagraha Dandi March shook the foundation of British Empire and triggered nationwide Civil Disobedience

Movement. NSS volunteers under guidance of NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan made videos to aware the young

generation about the sacrifices made and the lessons of non-violence and satyagrah learnt by the Dandi March. On

April 6, 1930, Gandhi ji picked up a handful of salt on the beach of Dandi on the west coast of India. He held it up,

smiled and announced with tongue-in-cheek humour, “With this I shake the foundations of the British empire!”

36. Theme Pariksha pe charcha

A two-day workshop was organised by NSS GGM Science College Jammu on 18th -19th March 2021. The volunteers

made slogans, posters and videos or tweet on Twitter using hashtags #examwarriors #PPC2021 on 18th March. Essay

39. THEME ECOSYTEM RESTORATION

NSS GGM Science College organised one day workshop on 27th March 2021 with the theme Ecosytem

Restoration. The aim of the workshop was awareness of Ecosystem Restoration that is the process of assisting

the recovery of an ecosystem that has been degraded, damaged or destroyed. Being responsible citizens, we can

contribute our little. About 40 volunteers planted trees and took pledge to take care of them. Since we have

destroyed the natural habitats and summer is here, the awareness drive was to keep food and water for the birds

visiting our homes. The third activity done was saving electricity. Switch off lights when not in use at homes,

offices and street lights. Earth Hour was observed on Saturday, 27 March, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

40. THEME: SWACHTA HI SEWA

Cleanliness drive by NSS volunteers in college campus theme Swachta hi Sewa was done on 5th -6th April

2021. The main purpose of this Programme was to create awareness among our students about the need and

importance of clean environment. The students were divided into 5 different groups and were sent to various

locations to make sure that no part of the campus was left unclean and unnoticed. “Ek Kadam Swachhata Ki

Aur” exhorts all citizens to contribute in their own way towards the goal of Swachh Bharat.

41. SURAKSHA: CORONA SE BACHAV

NSS Unit GGM Science College Jammu organized an awareness drive SURAKSHA: CORONA SE BACHAV

on 10-11th April 2021. NSS Volunteers made 3 layered re-useable masks and distributed them in surroundings

making public aware MASKS ARE MUST. Perhaps one of the most striking lifestyle changes resulting from the

COVID-19 pandemic is the mandatory use of face masks. Wearing a mask, especially when in close proximity to

others, is imperative to slowing the spread of COVID-19. Many people who have COVID-19 don’t show

symptoms but can still spread the virus through droplets that escape from the mouth when speaking. To avoid

common mistakes, awareness drive along with distribution of hand made 3 layered masks was done. Remember

this don’ts:

1. Don’t touch your mask while it is being worn.

2. Don’t wear the mask under your chin with your nose and/or mouth exposed.

3. Don’t leave your nose and/or mouth uncovered.

4. Don’t remove the mask while around others in public.

5. Don’t share your mask with family members or friends.

42. THEME: SHRADHANJALI

13th - 14th April NSS unit GGM Science College paid tributes to the martyrs who were killed mercilessly in

Jallianwala Bagh on this day. We should never forget their courage and sacrifice. Their valour is an inspiration to

Indians. An online painting competition was held with theme Shradhanjali. The event was judged by Prof Surbhi

Dubey Astt Prof Bio technology. Meenakshi 4th sem got first position, Suraj 4th sem got second, Madhurya 4th

sem and Shaku 2nd sem shared 3rd positions.

writing was organised on topic The Philosophy of Dr B.R Ambedkar under to honour his countless contributions

NSS uni t organized an awareness program with the theme " Restore Our Earth “on 22n d Apri l

2021 . NSS volunteers made posters on Say No To Plastics . The awareness in our l i t t le way

should be the major concern. Reduce, Recycle and Reuse, making bags from newspaper and

clothes , car rying s teel bot t les , jute bags. Amid covid 19 the use of surgical non bio degradable

masks are the new pol lut ion cris is . Volunteers made masks at home and appealed people to

use home-made masks increasing no waste creat ing another big problem. The p last ic bot t les

48. WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY : COMMIT TO QUIT

31st MAY 2021 The WHO programme to reach people with free digital quitting tobacco NSS GGM Science College

organized an online campaigning during the COVID-19 pandemic with the theme “COMMIT TO QUIT” using

social media digital platforms whatsapp, facebook, Instagram and twitter . Sending the message SAY NO TO

TOBACCO; COMMIT TO QUIT as Smokers face a 40 – 50% higher risk of developing severe disease and death

from the coronavirus. NSS Volunters raised their voice using posters, slogans and making awareness videos under

the guidance of NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan celebrating 75 years of Independence Azadi ka Amrut mahotsav. The

aim was to spread the awareness about the dangers of using tobacco and health problems when one quits smoking.

NSS GGM Science Col lege celebrated World Environment Day 5 th June 2021 with the

theme Ecosystem Restoration . An onl ine video making compet i t ion was organized by NSS

in col laborat ion with Dept . of Environmental Sciences. A total of s ixty s tudents from

fourteen different inst i tutes of JK UT part icipated in the even t to showcase their creat ivi ty ,

knowledge, awareness for the environment in two -minute video cl ips on the topic “Impact

of Covid 19 on environment and l i fes tyle” emphasizing on the relat ionship between human

systems and natural systems in the pandemic. Th e compet i t ion was judged by Prof. Preet i

50. DESTRESS YOURSELF TWO DAY ONLINE WORKSHOP

NSS GGM Science College organized two day online awareness workshop DESTRESS YOURSELF about stress

management in covid pandemic times on 7th -8th June celebrating Azadi ka amrut mahotsav. NSS volunteers took

part in various activities. Poster making on How to destress yourself, your positive story in this pandemic and what’s

your helping hand in the tough times . Effective stress management helps to break the hold stress in lifeto make it

happier, healthier, and more productive. The ultimate goal is a balanced life, with time for work, relationships,

relaxation, and fun—and the resilience to hold up under pressure and meet challenges head on. Volunteers actively

participated in telling their stories how yoga, meditation, hobbies like cooking, dancing, music, painting, reading

help them in destressing the stress. They emphazised on taking break from screen timing including those on social

media. Taking care of your body, breathing excercises, eating healthy, proper sleep, continuing proper routine,

making time for positive activities, connecting socially to friends and family. And the most important thing Helping

Others in this tough time. Helping our family and friends so that none is left alone. A survey of college studentswas

carried out online via google form containing questionaries for self analysis. About 350 students participated in this

survey. 36.9% felt stress whereas 34.9% weren’t sure. It was happy to know 71.8% performed yoga, exercise and

meditation, 51.5% were early risers, 60.5% believed in doing work on time, 47.4% followed their passion, 75.9%

believed hobbies like painting, music, etc give them happiness, 96.2% love helping their families in day to day work,

67.2% shared their problems with family and friends, 89% believed communication is best therapy, 51.7% said they

give more time to screen, 76.7% helped others in pandemic. The students found self analysis motivating and 89.5%

assured they will invest to their better being and 94.2% believed every little step matters. 92.7 % promised to destress

themselves and give life a proper positive direction. The main objective of this workshop was to Embrace the current

season of life. Keep busy and convert your energy into positive vibes. The students thanked NSS for this kind effort.

51. ONLINE SKETCHING ON WORLD AGAINST CHILD LABOUR DAY

NSS GGM Science College organized an online sketching campaign with the Theme 'Act Now, End Child

Labour'. World Against Child Labour Day is observed on 12 June every year around the world. The day aims to

spread the awareness about the illegal practice of child labour that still prevails. NSS volunteers Tanisha, Muskan,

Mitali, Shaku, Pallavi, Parul, Aaghav, Shriya, Nancy participated in the awareness program making sketches. The

purpose being to bring attention to the problem of child labour and to find ways to eradicate it or fight against it.

52. WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY: “Give blood and keep the world beating”

World Blood Donor Day was celebrated on 14th June 2021. The aim was to raise the global awareness of the need

for safe blood and blood products for transfusion and of the critical contribution voluntary, unpaid blood donors

make to national health systems. NSS GGM Science College organized an online awareness campaign with the

Theme “Give blood and keep the world beating” the contribution of blood donors in saving lives and improving

53. Week long workshop celebrating 75 years of Independence Azadi ka Amrut

Mahotsav

Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is an embodiment of all that is progressive about India’s socio-

cultural, political and economic identity. The official journey of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”

started on 12th March, 2021. The main objective of the week long celebration from 9th to 15th

June was to have an online campaigning as Janandolan, featuring Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat,

India's glorious history, showcasing India's development with the theme "Progress of India Post

Independence." Various activities were performed like slogan, essay, poetry writing, poster

making, online mushaira, debate, online quiz and extension lecture by a renowned historian

Prof. Jigar Mohd, Department of History, University of Jammu. NSS volunteers participated

with enthusiasm and full patriotic zeal.

54. YOGA FOR WELL BEING WEEK 15th TO 21st JUNE 2021

Yoga for well being celebrated by NSS GGM Science College from 15th June NSS volunteers

took part in series of events like slogan writing, poster making, practising yoga at home with

family, sending pics of various asanas performed by Volunteers, making their videos. The

awareness was done using social media platforms. To celebrate 7TH INTERNATIONAL

YOGA DAY

Day 1: Volunteers made slogans on the theme. Yoga for well being to encourage people to

adapt the yoga in their respective lifestyle.

Day 2: On the second day of workshop they made poster in which they show how yoga is

beneficial to us.

BEING from 19th to 21st June under the patronage of worthy Principal Dr. Ravender Tickoo

and guidance of NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan. About 150 students and faculty from different

colleges of JK UT participated in the online YOGA workshop. The workshop opened with

welcome address of NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan. Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient

tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment;

harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about

exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By

changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being. Let us work

towards adopting an International Yoga Day helping society in recovering Covid 19 impact.

Bharatiya Yog Sansthan a social, cultural and non-profit making organization, serving the

humanity/aspirants both within and outside India for the last 55 years now. The Organization

has dedicated itself to the cause of teaching Yoga to people free of cost. The mission “Jio aur

Jivan do” is aimed at making people happy and healthy through Yoga, an ancient Indian science

for physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

The resource persons were Mr Dinesh District Pardhan of Bahu district and Mr Bireshwar

Jamwal Zonal Pardhan -Bahu zone. The highlights of day one were use of yoga in reviving

health. Building the mind and body connection by performing yoga asanas pranayama,

suryanamaskar, shavasana, ushtasana, vajrasana, etc.by Mr. Bireshwar Jamwal . The workshop

also emphasized on the need of healthy lifestyle and stress management through meditation,

boosting immunity through yoga exercises. The day one program ended with vote of thanks by

Day 6:

On second Day of the online Yoga workshop Practice Yoga: A gateway to health and

happiness practized many more asanas relevant in this present pandemic time. The main aim

being coordinating mind with body physical mental spiritual well being. The resource persons

were Mr. Dinesh Nayyar, Mr. Keshav Sharma and Mr. Bireshwar Jamwal (BYS JK). Mr.

Keshav demonstrated various asanas to the young students Kapalbharti, Shoulder stretching,

Surya namaskar, Vakrasana, Ardhmatasyendraasana, Padmasana, Vajraasana,

Pavanmukhtasana, Bhujangasana, Shavasana, Trikonasana, Pranayam, Ushtasana, Padmasana

etc. The students performed every step in beautiful coordination. Mr Dinesh emphasized on

the importance of yoga. Yoga is a mind and body practice. Various styles of yoga combine

physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation or relaxation. Yoga asanas are various

body postures ranging from a sitting asana to positions where you are required to recline, stand,

twist, and balance your body. Asanas were followed by query session. Do’s Always breathe

via nose while doing any types of asanas. Wear comfortable loose clothes to allow your body

to move freely while performing all yoga asanas. Practice yogasana postures at least two hours

before or after having your meals. Drink water to stay hydrated during yoga asanas. Find a

quiet and calm place to perform yoga asanas. Do warm-up before yoga asanas to avoid sudden

strain on muscles. Don’ts Do not overdo yoga asanas or asanas for back pain as it can put a

strain on muscles and cause injury. Do not perform even simple yoga asanas fast or in a hurried

manner. The program ended with vote of thanks by NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan.

Day 7:

The last day of workshop Day 3 started with asanas Yogmudra, Adhu mukh sukhasana,

Vajraasana, Vrikshasana, Paschimatomasana, anulom vilom, Surya namaskar, Bhramri

pranayam and Laughter therapy demonstrated by Mr. Brishewar Jamwal (BSY JK). Mr. Dinesh

Nayyar took the pledge to perform yoga everyday was taken by participants. The yoga has

history many thousands of years ago in India, Rishis explored nature and the cosmos in their

meditations. Yoga is essential for the Physical, Mental, Social, Spiritual health. Principal Dr.

Ravender Tickoo praised students for their active participation. Yoga can be of great help for

students because it will help them in living stress free, making decisions, fighting peer pressure,

concentrating on the right things, and building a great personality where they respect other

fellow beings and are compassionate especially in times of covid pandemic. The workshop

ended with vote of thanks by NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan. She emphasized that Yoga helps

strengthen body immunity, improve flexibility, teaches discipline and reduces impulsivity. The

event was coordinated by Mr. Jia Lal sharma (Sec. BYSJK) and Dr. Rakesh kumar Gupta. E-

55. WEBINAR ON ELDER ABUSE AWARENESS AND HELPLINE

NSS GGM Science College organized an webinar on ELDER ABUSE AWARENESS AND

HELPLINE on 24th June 2021 celebrating Azadi ka Amrutmahotsav. The resource person

Sameer Ul Mehraj (FRO Srinagar/Budgam) motivated the volunteers to join this awareness

drive and about National helpline number 14567 for senior citizens in Jammu and Kashmir.

The social organization working in almost all the districts to reach out for help and assistance

against all forms of abuse. Elder Abuse has been categorized into three wide categories: first,

neglect, including seclusion, social seclusion and rejection; second, abuse of legal, human and

56. Share Facts On Drugs, Save Lives

A two day awareness program organized by NSS on 25th- 26th June 2021 "Share Facts On

Drugs, Save Lives” concluded today on The International Day against Drug Abuse and

Illicit Trafficking, or World Drug Day, which is marked on 26th June every year, to

strengthen action and cooperation in achieving the goal of a world free of drug abuse at GGM

Science College commemorating Azadi ka Amrut mahotsav. Together, we can tackle the world

drug problem. Knowing the facts from UNODC and sharing them on social media platforms

like facebook, instagram and twitter. Let's all join in on this global observance, to raise

awareness of the major problem that illicit drugs represent for society. The NSS volunteers

Tanisha, Muskan, Arpana, Sartik, Sajal, Sahil, Pallavi, Gokul also made posters on topic Say

No To Drugs.

57. Online Workshop on Guidance for Pyschosocial Counselling and Covid

Helper Skills organized at GGM Science College under the aegis of Higher

Education Department, Ministry of Education, Government of India.

30th June 2021 GGM Science College, Jammu under the patronage of worthy Principal Dr.

Ravender Tickoo organized an online workshop Guidance for Pyschosocial Counselling and

Covid Helper Skills; under Swachhta Action Plan on Psycho-social support for Covid-19

pandemic conditions under the aegis of Higher Education Department, Ministery of

Education, Government of India. MGNCRE: Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural

Education under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, in Government of India

strives to promote resilient rural India through Higher Education interventions. The resource

person Mr. Ajay Tanwar. a representative of (MGNCRE), had varied experience in the field of

academic, handling finance, organizing and conducting workshops/ competition at state,

regional, and national level. He has also contributed in material generation for varied projects

under Punjab and VENTEL. The workshop started with welcome address by NSS PO Dr.

Narender Kumar. The highly interactive session by Mr. Ajay focussed on development of

listening skills, the feelings, issues and needs associated with the person having covid or in his

family. How to deal with the well being physically and mentally so that even with social

distancing none is left alone in society. The formation of teams pertaining to helping in terms

of basic facilities, food supply, medical facilities, hospital informations, financial assistance

and most important emotional support are the various fields where we can reach out in this

pandemic.

58. Gratitude to the Doctors

July 1 is also celebrated as National Doctor’s Day. NSS volunteers Parul, Nancy, Sahil

Sharma, Sajal, Madhurya and Aman showed their gratitude by making posters. Pandemic has

once again reminded us about the contributions and sacrifices made by doctors and healthcare

workers around the globe.
