In 2000 Nelson Mandela challenged business leaders to think of ideas to raise

money for his charities. The following year he was persuaded to try to raise

money through selling his own artworks, and this is the first series which were

drawn from photographs of his hands. In the work he tells the story of his life

and that of his country and has written a poignant artist’s motivation.

An edition of 500 was produced

in a large format – titled ‘The

Struggle Series’, but very few

were signed. This is the rarest of

his editions of art which mainly

feature scenes of Robben Island.

A set of the same Struggle Series images in a smaller format was also

produced and signed. We are delighted to offer a very limited quantity of

these to clients. This is a unique opportunity to buy an historic signed work

of art by the world’s greatest statesman, now in his 95th year.
