LEARNING SEUDAH SHLISHIT

Learning Seudah Shlishit, meets between Mincha and Maariv in the Downstairs Social Hall. We invite you to select some refreshments and select one of the following shiurim:

Lifnei Iver Lo Titen Michshol: Modern Day Stumbling Blocks with Betzalel Posy: We live in a culture and society that has made it easier to be a committed Jew than ever before. However, many other parts of our commonwealth, communities, friends, neighbors and families, use that same freedom and liberty to engage in behavior that is inconsistent with and even antithetical to our vision of The Truth. What does the Torah have to say about that? This week's topic is: "Temptation isn't Assur: The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act."

Law & Order: Making Sense of Mysterious Mitzvot with Rabbinic Intern Rabbi Alex Maged: As the weekly parshas transition away from narrative, and towards legal material, it can be tempting to “tune out” from Torah reading. These details are just so boring, right? Wrong! Come join us as we discover the drama hiding beneath the surface of our parsha’s halachic “minutiae,” and piece together layers of meaning that you’ve probably never noticed before!

Can I Relate to This Parsha? with Harry Glazer: As we pass Parshat Yitro, and start learning the myriad halachot and ritual mitzvot in Mishpatim, Terumah, Tetzaveh, etc., it can become much harder to find inspiration and practical guides for everyday life in the parsha. This class will draw upon the writings of Sforno, Nehama Leibowitz, Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, and Rabbi Eli Reisman to find relevant, meaningful, and uplifting themes in each Torah portion.

And a special fourth class for teens and pre-teens in the Beit Midrash:

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them in the Torah with Rabbi Miodownik: In which only the brave of heart search Tanach and Torah Sheb'al Peh for tales of bizarre and fearsome creatures that prowl/ed the Earth, under the expert guidance of a world-renowned monsterologist.

MEALS FOR AA FAMILIES

The Ahavas Achim Meal Coordination Committee arranges meals for congregants with medical needs, new babies and shivas. Until now, the opportunity to contribute to these meals has been limited to people who have already volunteered to help. In the spirit of inclusion, and to strengthen our community, we are now engaging the entire congregation in this important chesed opportunity. When a need arises, we will create a “MealTrain” and we will announce it to the congregation and post the link on the AA website. Or, if you or your friends are creating your own MealTrain for an AA family, please let us share that with the AA community as well.

If you have a need for meals, please don’t hesitate to ask. We will be happy to provide! Please send all meal information, requests and inquiries to [email protected] and a member of the meal coordination committee will take it from there!

We will be providing meals for the Teresh family for couple of weeks. Please sign up on the mealtrain: https://mealtrain.com/k7z5r2. Cooking for 2 adults, 2 children.

No gluten, no dairy, no mushrooms, wild fish only. Deliver to 423A South Second Ave.

For current opportunities to provide meals, please check out the AA website: ahavasachim.org.
