KICC FASTING GUIDELINES Kingsway International Christian Centre believes in fasting. In both the Old & New Testaments we see a scriptural basis for fasting.

EXAMPLES OF OLD TESTAMENT FASTING: (a) Moses fasted & brought deliverance to Israel. (b) David fasted in repentance before God when he committed the sin of adultery. (c) Daniel fasted to receive revelation from God.

(d) Elijah fasted & experienced great anointing.

EXAMPLES OF NEW TESTAMENT FASTING: (a) Jesus fasted when He was on earth & so did His disciples. (b) Church history reveals that fasting was practised through the church ages & in the days of restoration. Accounts show that Luther, Calvin & Knox all fasted regularly.

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES TO CONSIDER: Whilst as a Church we believe in fasting, before anyone embarks on a period of abstinence from food the following are important guidelines to consider.

(a) Fasting for a long period of time, for example 30 or 60 days, does not mean abstinence from food for the complete period of time, that is, 24 hours or longer.

(b) An individual can break at any time during the day, providing they feel they have prayed sufficiently.

(c) If an individual is on medication or is pregnant, we advise that they seek medical counsel.

(d) In cases of fasting for more than a half day, it is advisable to drink fluid, for example water.

(e) Children under the age of 16 are not advised to go on long periods of fasting without supervision & consent of parents.

GUIDELINES FOR FASTING: It is important to understand the helpful guidelines that under-pins the exercise of fasting, especially for a longer period like the thirty days fasting we are embarking on. These guidelines are as follows:

1. ATTITUDES: (a) Purity of speech & living is crucial during a period of fasting. Ephesians 4:29 Colossians 3:8 I Peter 3:10-12 Romans 12:2 I Peter 1:14-15

(b) Fasting should also be carried out with a heart of compassion. The heart of compassion is reflected in distributing the saved food to the needy & less fortunate. Going back to eat all the saved food during fasting not only negates the purpose of fasting, but also suggests that no discipline was achieved during the period of fasting. As a result, the human body can experience an explosion in size.

2. LENGTH OF TIME: The length of your fast should be determined by what you desire to receive & what the need is. It is important to fast until you truly feel that what you have made a sacrifice for, as you wait on God, has been achieved.

3. PREPARATION FOR FASTING: It is not advisable to fast for a long period of time without preparing the body first. It is possible for the body to go for a long period of time without food, but not without water.

4. MEDICAL OBSERVATIONS: It is extremely important that you talk to your doctor, before engaging in fasting that requires more than 24 hours without food, so that the name of the Lord is not brought into disrepute.

Ask for the anointing that removes burdens and destroys yokes in your life. Declare and decree that the anointing of God will make a difference in your life and ministry. Prophesy that like Daniel, you will manifest the

anointing of excellence. Ask for a hunger and thirst for the deeper things of God. Commit your worship life into God’s hand so that it will be the kind that creates glory. Pray for the anointing that will make you a commander in the things of the spirit. Begin to release the glory of God in every battle you are facing right now. Pray for a fresh anointing on the ministry of our Church. Pray that God will clothe our Senior Pastor with a double portion of His anointing. Pray for the boldness that causes you to confront even the most difficult situation. Ask the Lord to reign supreme in every aspect of your life. Pray that the entrance of God’s Word into your life will produce growth and maturity. Ask God for mercies for past acts of lack of dedication and commitment. Pray that you will be more available for God to use in various capacities this year. Pray that you will love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your

mind. Pray that our Churches globally will be more committed to the courses of evangelism and reaching the unchurched. Pray that they will be more passionately involved in missions, evangelism, Church planting and discipleship this year. Pray that our churches will do the work of evangelism by the enabling and anointing of the Holy Spirit. Pray that the end time spirit of luke-warmness will lose its hold over the life of our brethren in the Church of God. Pray that your love for God and the things of His house shall not wax cold but grow stronger.

Pray for the anointing to catch up & overtake in the areas of your calling. Pray for the presence of the Lord in your life that will cause others to promote you. Pray for the accelerated breakthrough of the ploughman overtaking the

reaper in your life. Thank God for the accelerated breakthrough that will make you recover wasted years. Prophesy a divine acceleration to the change you expect in the area of adversity in your life. Pray that the days when harvest will meet harvest in your life will be manifest in your life in the name of Jesus. Prophesy, that there will be an accelerated achievement on the destiny of your children.

Thank God for giving you His life in abundance in Jesus name. Thank God because He will make you to know the abundance of His mercy in your life. Pray that according to the promise of the Lord, your soul will be satisfied with abundance. Pray that the supernatural abundance that will bless generations yet to come will flow into your life. Pray that you will flourish like a palm tree (Ps 92:12); make that your confession.

Command God’s prosperity on your business, investments & the works of your hands. Confess by faith, the flow of new ideas, visions & breakthroughs in your life.Pray that you will abound in integrity, especially in financial matters. Confess your freedom to enjoy the riches of Christ & to be free from the yoke of debt.

Take authority over the spirit of delay & procrastination that wants to hold your blessing & make you doubt God. Boldly declare that this is your season of divine remembrance. Cast down the spirit of delay which wants to stop you from recovering the purpose & plan of God for your life. Send ministering angels to begin to take back every benefit, right & blessing belonging to you, which somebody is holding back.Confess boldly that the Word of the Lord shall not be prolonged in your life concerning

that matter; and that this is the season for its manifestation in Jesus name. Decree that everything God has released for this season for you in the spirit realm shall begin to have earthly manifestation.

Pray to release yourself from the hold of the spirit of fear in Jesus’ name. Come against the spirit of discouragement with regards to prayers for which you are awaiting an answer.Pray for the help of the Holy Spirit to put all your worries on Christ, because He cares for you. Pray to receive the peace of God that garrisons your heart in difficult times. Ask the Lord to help you overcome all constant feelings of dissatisfaction.Pray to break the hold of fear & unnecessary worry over the people of your household. Thank the Lord for helping you not to be moved by what you go through.

Confess by faith that the Lord gave you your womb and you will use it to carry your own child. Pray that your wife will give birth to children who

will bring glory to God. Destroy the yoke of financial barrenness in your life.
