Novena Prayer O Gracious Father, in every age and at all times You bless Your people with great gifts. Through
the prayers of Saint Jude Thadde-us, powerful patron of the hope-less, scatter the darkness of our
fear, crush the coronavirus and its havoc, awaken cooperation for the common good, safeguard all who serve the sick and needy,
inspire charity in our words and deeds, and train our hearts again
to trust in you. Help our weary, broken world, Living Lord, with faith, peace,
kindness, and compassion, with humility, respect, joy, and cour-age. See us through these trials,
Lord God, especially people giv-en to depression and despair, the unemployed, the homeless, the hungry, and all with daily strug-
gles. May our love and respect for Your creation bring new life,
greater mutual support, and en-during, confident hope for all.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

From Fr. Godfrey
— CHRISTMAS PEACE TO ALL! As we finally celebrate the birth of our Savior, I hope and pray that we all have at least a little chance to rest in the peace and love of this holy mystery of the Lord’s incarnation. Let the love of God, made clear in the birth of His Son, convince you of your value in
His eyes. That might rightly bring peace. Give thanks for the otherwise unnoticed gifts that He’s given you: it will bring joy. Count on a remembrance of all our parishion-ers and guests at the Christmas Masses. You’re one way that God is good to me. — THANK YOU to all our parish and school staff and
volunteers who give of themselves so diligently throughout the year. Again, another worthy reflection of God’s goodness to us: so many generous, talented people working to build His kingdom among us.
— ABSENCE. I’ll be away a few days after Christmas to spend with some of my family. I’ll especially enjoy seeing my Mom each day for a few days in a row. Thanks to all who ask about my family. These days, I think all is fairly well. — THANK YOU to all who sent a greeting or left a gift for me during these wonderful days. I’m always grateful for your kindness. But I’m also grateful, and most espe-cially, for your prayers. You’re all in my prayers everyday!
A big New Year THANK YOU…thank you to all who took names from the Dove Tree and helped with the Christmas gifts. Thank you to all who have given generously to St. Vincent de Paul this past year. Thank you to all who have prayed for our clients and for the work of our members. And, thank you to all of our clients that have opened their hearts and lives to let us help them. So many of you have helped in this past year to let us provide for the needy in our neighborhood with beds and appliances, clothes and
food, rent and utility assistance, and so much more. In the upcoming year, let us embrace the New Year's Prayer of Rev. Marcy Sheremetta and “continue to pray and live each day in the most loving ways, the God-conscious way. Let us serve all who are in need, regardless of race, color or creed. May your year be filled with peace, prosperity and love. May God's blessings shower upon you and bestow upon each of you a bright, healthy and peaceful new year.”

Just one hour of uninterrupt-ed time in Adoration is a great
way to draw closer to our Lord, give thanks for all His blessings, ask for heavenly
virtues with daily challenges, grow in our faith with scriptur-
al readings, learn about the teachings of the church, or
simply give some of your time back to the Lord. Interested
in spending time in Adoration? Contact Lisa Roth for more
information at 812-473-1702.

Is Christ Calling You To Become a Deacon? God is calling on each of us to serve one another in char-ity and love. Some men are receiving a particular invita-tion from God to serve Christ and His Church in or-dained ministry as Permanent Deacons. Deacons have a unique identity as neither a lay person nor a priest. Through the sacramental grace of Holy Or-ders, deacons are conformed into the image of Christ the Servant. In communion with Bishop Siegel and his body of priests, deacons serve to build up the community of faith among God’s people through Word, sacrament and especially works of charity. Our diocesan permanent deacons have greatly enriched our diocese by offering their lives in service in many of our parishes, hospitals, correction facilities and nursing homes as well as through outreach ministries to the homeless, the poor and hungry and the lonely and through many other ministries of charity. If you might be interested in learning more, there is an informational meeting at the Catholic Center in Evans-ville on Saturday, January 8 at 9AM. For more infor-mation contact Deacon Tom Evans by e-mail at [email protected].
