Dr. RC Maheshwari was born on4th March 1947 in the Basin ofGanga Le., at Miranpur, District:Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh andgot his Bachelor in Engineeringfrom GB Pant University ofAgriculture and Technology,Pantnagar during 1967 and thenmoved to liT, Kharagpur for

M.Tech. in 1969 and Ph.D. in 1974. He served as Head of theDepartment ofAgricultural and Food Engineering atliT Kharagpur during 2002-2005. attended the M.Sc. Ergonomics Course atLoughborough University of Technology, U.K.during 1982-83. Dr. Gite got his Ph.D. (Agril. & FoodEngg.) in 1996 from Indian Institute of TechnologyKharagpur. His doctoral work was on Ergonomics oflever operated knapsack sprayer and many of hisrecommendations have found way in sprayerindustry benefiting farmers arid agriculturallabourers. Presently Dr. Gite is working as ProjectCoordinator of All India Coordinated ResearchProject on Ergonomics and Safety in Agriculture atCentral Institute ofAgricultural Engineering, Bhopal.He has been involved in applying ergonomicsinterventions in more than 20 agricultural tools andequipment for improving productivity, reducingdrudgery and enhancing safety. He did his B.E. (AG) from Sukhadia University,Udaipur (Rajasthan); M.Tech. (WRDM) from theI.I.T., Kharagpur and Ph.D. (SWCE) from theMPUAT, Udaipur.

He is a Fellow of the Indian Water ResourcesSociety, and Member of i) Indian Society ofAgricultural Engineers ii) Institution of Engineers(India), iii) Indian Society for Technical Education;iv) Indian Association of Soil & WaterConservationists, v) Indian Association ofHydrologists, and vi) Association of AgroMeteorologists. He has handled research projectsas PI/CO-PI in various projects, e.g. "Study of Saltand Water Movement in Evaporation Pond andSurrounding Area" sponsored by the RSMM Ltd.,Lignite Mines, Nagaur; "Study of IrrigationEfficiencies to Find Out Proper Bed Size forIrrigation in Right Main Canal Command of NandSamand Irrigation Project" sponsored by theGovernment of Rajasthan; AICRP on Ground WaterUtilization through Wells and Pumps". "ResourceCharacterization and Socio-Economic ConstraintsAnalysis of Productivity in the Maize Based CropProduction System" and "Stochastic Modelling ofAgrometeorological Phenomena for Farm WaterManagement Planning" sponsored by the ICAR,New Delhi. He has authored 3 books, contributedchapters in 5 books and published 55 papers innational and international researchjournals/Conferences. He has gUided 11 M. Tech.and 15 B.E. student projects.

Dr. Raj Vir Singh obtained hisbachelors, masters and doctoratedegrees in AgriculturalEngineering from G.B. PantUniversity of Agriculture andTechnology, Pantnagar. Heserved Pantnagar University indifferent capacities includingProfessor for more than twenty

Er. S Mukesh is working asInstructor in Northern RegionFarm Machinery Training: &Testing Institute (Govt. Of India,Ministry of Agriculture), Hisarsince 1997. He obtained B.Tech.

(Agril. Engg.) & M.Tech. (Agri I. Engg.) Withcertificate of Honour from CCS HAU, Hisar in 1995& 2006 respectively. His field of specialization isfarm power and machinery and has done researchon running diesel engines using hydrogen assupplementary fuel. He was awarded ICAR meritscholarship for four years during B. Tech. He is alsodecorated with President's Scout Award. He isimparting 'on the job' practical training in the field offarm power and machinery to farmers, foreignnationals, engineering graduates, companyexecutives, dealer mechanics, diploma and ITIholders, defense personnel etc.

He has written two books entitled 'Agriculturaltractor & machinery' and 'Farm Machinery Design ­Principles and Problems' and published severaltechnical/research papers in the field of hisspecialization. He is a life member of Indian SocietyofAgricultural Engineers.
