x 220 MWe PHWR)
Kakarapar Atomic Power Project (KAPP) 3&4 - Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors (2
x 700 MWe PHWR)
Purpose of Industrial Visit
1) To interact the students with actual industry personals.
2) To make them aware of the industrial procedures required to enter in any company.
3) To experience them about the importance of all Departments in the Industry.

Strength behind the visit
Honourable Provost Dr. D. R. Shah Sir has approved the industrial visit and encouraged the
committee for organizing similar kind of activities for the benefit of students.
Training and placement cell organized an Industry University Interface Program at Uka
Tarsadia University, at that time many experts from the industries has suggested that students
of final year should visit the industries to experience the actual working environment and the
processes. Also suggestions came from the industrial person that visit for the chemistry
students will be helpful to face the interviews.
Dr. Ajit Joshi has taken continuous follow-up and approval with KAPS to organize this
Industrial visit. All the faculty members of the Department of Chemistry supported and
encourage the students to participate in the Industrial Visit. All the teaching, non-teaching staff,
and student volunteers have supported this tour.
Ground report
Our Industrial visit journey was started at 8.30 am from Maliba Campus and reached the KAPS
vyara at 09:45 am. After completion of entry procedure at the Pass Office to enter inside the

Sh. G. Sharma and his team members has guided in detail about the KAPS plant and NPCIL.
Also aware about safety regarding nuclear radiation with live examples of daily radiations from
sun with comparative data. Demonstrated heavy water, unused fuel cell and dummy reactor

nuclear power plant with live examples. They inform us about world record of KAPS i.e. 900
days of continuous reactor working.
In the last part of visit, two batches of the students were divided and one batch was headed for
cooling tower and second batch was entered in generator room with proper safety personal
protective equipment (PPE’s). All details about actual power plant work function was given by
Representative of NPCL and every steps were explained about power generator with live demo
of working generator. Many students have asked the queries and the instructor has solved them
very cleverly and politely. After plant visit the students were headed for the delicious lunch
provided by KAPS without any charge. After lunch students were moved to training center
main entrance for Group Photo click
After completion of plant visit and photo suit with Representative of NPCL, a short meeting
was arranged with Shri. Gaurav Sharma (Training Superintendent) of KAPS. From Department
of Chemistry, we showed our gratitude by giving Token of love to Shri. Gaurav Sharma and
his team members those who help during visit of NPCL, and promised to continue this activity
every year for the benefit of the students.
