FIELD VISIT REPORT As a part of our cuniculum, students get to visit industries that impart a practical insight into the

workings of an organization. These visits provide the students an opportunity to reflect on their in-class learning and connect those with the real world and end up gaining new perspectives.

Place of Visit in collaboration with PSA CHENNAI — Chennai Port Terminal No. of Participants 43 Students — I M.Com

Objective of the visit: To gain practical Knowledge on the various aspects of Logistics & Supply Chain Management

Visit Outcomes: The students gained knowledge on the ways in which inventory are maintained, the tools used for moving the goods.

Visit Overview: Students were given an overall tour of the port, witnessing the terminals, loading & unloading operations from cargo vessels. They were given detailed overview of the operations of containers, planning of space requirements, inspection etc. The required safety and quality aspects in handling materials were explained in detail. They were given exposure about various import & export procedures.

To gain practical Knowledge on the various aspects of Logistics & Supply Chain Management

Visit Outcomes:

The students gained knowledge on the ways in which inventory are maintained, warehouse maintenance, the tools used for moving the goods.

Visit Overview:

Students were taken on a visit to Alcargo Logistics Private Limited, a container freight station (CFS). A CFS is a distribution facility where import and export shipments are consolidated and

de-consolidated. Students were able to witness various transit operations, visit container yards,

have a look over warehousing operations, Movement of goods, various tools used in the movement of goods, Loading & unloading of goods, records of shipment, cargo security etc. The trip was very informative, enriching and provided great learning experience to the students

maintenance, Packaging, Quality check & control & their Logistics functioning

Visit Overview:

M.Com had organized a visit to Hatsun Agro Product Ltd., Karapakkam, a dairy company with business-to-farmer as well as business-to-consumer operations for the M.Com I Year students on 9th February 2018. The visit enabled the students to understand various aspects relating to production and packing of Dairy products.

The industrial visit commenced with a multimedia presentation about the products produced by Hatsun Agro Product Ltd. The students visited the factory accompanied by the facilitators who explained the entire production process to the students. The students had the opportunity to get direct exposure to the following aspects:

• Production & Packaging

• Quality Check & control

• Automation in their working Process

• Effectiveness of their Logistics System

The students raised various queries relating to the above aspects and the facilitators clarified all

the doubts. The students spent their quality time in exploring the production, packaging and logistics related activities of Hatsun
