The COVID-19 has had unprecedented effects across industries and sectors and agriculture

has been no exception to that rule. The complete economic and social impacts of the

pandemic continued to unfold and caused deep economic slowdown, resulting in poverty

and food insecurity. The global agriculture & food sector alone witnessed umpteen

restrictions and multi scale impact in response to the measures adopted to check the spread of

disease including shortage of labor, limited access to agri inputs, delayed sowing and

harvesting, supply chain disturbances, complete lockdown of ports and processing facilities,

limited retailing, closure of restaurants and food services and disrupted trade flows which has

resulted in a dual shock affecting both supply and demand.

While the agricultural trade flows were not insulated from the effects of the pandemic, the

efforts of the government and concerned stakeholders worldwide have contributed to

remarkably resilient agri & food commodity markets. However, the trade restricting actions

tumbledown the balance between supply and demand, leaving importers and exporters in

shackles. In order to avert the pandemic causing a major global disruption and crisis, it is

pivotal to keep the trade flowing and supply chain functioning without any disturbances.

While we are living with a foreboding of the approaching third wave of COVID-19 and

associated serious uncertainties and long-term shifts in global agriculture trade, it is

absolutely critical that countries and international communities work towards resilient agro

trade and supply chain

Vision

India Agri Export Council (IAEC) was launched in 2019 by Indian Chamber of Food and

Agriculture (ICFA) with objective to work with concerned stakeholders (States, Central, Exporters,

Farmers, Institutes, Academia, Startups) to promote production stewardship, stimulate sustainable

collaborations across the board towards robust export growth thus becoming a major global agri-

exporter.

IAEC is a common platform for the exporters and other key stakeholders to discuss their challenges

that may arise out of domestic policies or global instabilities, and formulate appropriate strategies

and action plans. IAEC will take up the issues of the Indian exporters to a larger audience,

facilitating a collective bargaining potential and exploring newer opportunities. The Council also

seeks to work with the farmers in helping improve cost and quality, provide with GAP certifications

and connect them with exporters.

across all the stakeholders engaged in the agri-export towards robust growth thus becoming a major

global agri-exporter.

Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture is the apex body in India, working on business, policy and

development agenda and serving as global platform for trade facilitation, partnerships, and

technology and agribusiness services. A proactive approach helps ICFA in discerning critical

challenges emerging in Indian agriculture along with creating opportunities for development, value

addition and international trade to accelerate growth in food and agriculture sector globally. With its

27 industry Working Groups and sector specific Business Councils, ICFA represents the interests of
