HOUSEHOLDS

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is the initiative from the central government through

Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. This programme aims at the sustainable

development rural India. The participating higher education institutions have

to extend their services to the adopted villages. The institutions must develop

linkage with the villages and get involved in the planning process of the village

development. To understand the present status of the village, the primary task

is to conduct two surveys the selected villages. They are Village survey and

Baseline household survey.

MITE UBA conducted the Village surveys and Baseline household surveys

for all the 5 villages in its fold in 1787 households. These surveys were done by

a team of 105 students from MBA department and 5 faculty members using the

standard questionnaires specified by UBA (See Annexures). It was done in a

planned manner with formation of several teams who were allocated different

areas for survey. 5 villages were divided into 2 clusters and surveys were

organised for these two clusters on 2 different days.

At the end of the successful survey exercise all the data are uploaded to the UBA

website. UBA has given a grant of Rs 50,000 towards this survey exercise.

ECO Club is a forum for students to come together and work towards protecting our

Environment and Ecology. Students plan and execute several programs both inside and outside

the campus like street plays on ecology, spreading awareness about conservation, planting

trees, sensitizing young high-school kids on the environment. This Club helps develop softer

side of managerial personality in terms of care and concern for nature. It helps them develop

as responsible citizens. Students learn as well as enjoy their learning through these activities.

Through this club we strive to engage students in spreading awareness about Ecology and

Green initiatives. Street plays, lectures, Swachh Bharath Abhiyan are some of the activities

under this banner.

Activity: RECYCLING OF USED PAPERS – AN EXERCISE 27.10.2018

During October, 2018 ECO Club members from the Department of MBA planned

an innovative activity to spread awareness about Recycling of paper waste. The

idea was to actually collect waste from the college and households and sell it

for recycling. The money collected could then be utilized to donate stationery

items to children of a nearby school. This exercise would stand as a live example

tp promote waste recycling among students of both MITE and the nearby

school.

Accordingly 22 members of ECO Club started collecting used and unused

papers from the students. The club members spread awareness among

student community in the campus about proper utilization of used and unused

papers from their note books and their households. The Club members

collected all ‘waste papers’ from the students and sold them to a book mart

and purchased new books using that revenue. This unique initiative received

favorable response from students of MBA. A total of Rs 2,500 was generated as

a result of this exercise which was used to donate stationery items to the

students of the Government lower primary school, Kadandale, Paladka.

No Manager is complete without having compassion for society and no Management is

effective without feelings for people. MITE believes that future managers must be exposed to

the finer side of humanity so that they grow up into compassionate and effective managers.

Student volunteers join together and come under a single Umbrella of 'CSR Club' and reach

out to the down-trodden and the suffering of the society. Club members collect donations, visit

orphanages/special schools/old-age homes, help them and spend quality time with the inmates.

This club inculcates a sense of sharing, caring, and compassion for the society among the

student members through its activities.
