Update on building usageThe following notice was sent to out-side building groups and posted at the entrances of our building:First, let me again thank you for your continued support and engagement with First Christian Church. We continue to try to do our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in our community. To that end, we continue to take extreme precautions with use of our building. We have reopened our space to staff, limited volunteers, and we continue to serve Stone Soup meals to go 3 days a week. We are following the numbers and recommendations of local, county, state and federal guidelines for reopening our building more fully to outside users. Since July, the state has issued mask mandates for inside all buildings and outside when social distancing stan-dards cannot be met. The state guide-lines also mandated limited gathering sizes for both indoor and outdoor meetings. I anticipated these standards would eventually be relaxed for Ben-ton County. Unfortunately, they have not changed since July. As of October 2, 2020, Benton County was placed on the “governor’s watchlist.” This watchlist means our county has experienced a rapid increase in cases and that contact tracing has not been possible in some cases creating what they call a “poten-tially dangerous dynamic.” All this is to say, we have made the difficult decision to keep our building closed to outside groups until further notice. All church meetings and worship services will remain virtual, and we

encourage outside group users to meet outside or via virtual platforms. We will continue to evaluate the situation and keep you informed. Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe. If you have any questions or are looking for support, please contact me. An addendum to the above notice: Activity inside our building has increased significantly since July. The pie-making crew is making pies in our kitchen. Two individuals are working on quilts in the upstairs Due Knots room. My kids are doing their online school during the day in Sunday school rooms. The folk musi-cians are practicing in the sanctuary. Staff is working in their offices Mon-day through Friday. Our volunteer treasurers are working in the office. Some small groups (under 5 people) are meeting inside the building. We facilitated sanctuary use for a seminary student last week. We believe we can continue to have our building used as long as safety protocols are followed. The building will remain locked at all times. For those using our building, we ask you to continue to coordinate with the office about your arrival and depar-ture, wear masks indoors, and wash your hands frequently. Thank you for your cooperation.Peace, Pastor Matt

Relying on the spirit and story of the Gospels, First Christian Church is supported primarily by donations. There is no charge for any event. We rely on freely given offerings to support our various minis-tries and opportunities.

Your contributions and gifts allow us to continue to be a radically inclusive, justice-driven community of faith every day of the week. Thank you in advance for your gifts.

Get into the spirit of the season with the Harvest Flag, item #47. The dimensions are 23 x 19 with hanging tabs and it is hand-quilted. It can be hung in a window, by the front door, or on the door itself. Use it to decorate for the Trick or Treat for the Heifer Proj-ect! The Harvest Flag/Hanging is $25.
