About Rehearsals Rehearsals for JERSEY BOYS will commence on Monday, June 6 at 7.30pm. Rehearsals will then be held every Monday and Wednesday evening at Star of the Sea, Miranda. Cast will also be required to attend some Sunday rehearsals later in the rehearsal period.

If you are successful in being cast in JERSEY BOYS, you should assume that you will be required for all rehearsals, however there will be a rehearsal schedule available. If you are unable to attend rehearsals, you must contact a member of the production team as soon as possible.

All cast MUST be available in all of October School holidays (Friday September 23 – Monday October 9 – note, rehearsals will remain Monday evening, Wednesday evening and Sundays). If you have plans to go away and miss these rehearsals then please do not audition as it is not fair on people who are available for all rehearsals.

About JERSEY BOYS Jersey Boys is a musical biography of the Four Seasons - the rise, tough times and personal clashes, and the ultimate triumph of a group of friends whose music became symbolic of a generation. Far from a mere tribute concert (though it does include numbers from the popular Four Seasons songbook) Jersey Boys gets to the heart of the relationships at the centre of the group – with a special focus on front man Frankie Valli, the small kid with the big falsetto. In addition to following the quartet’s coming of age as performers, the core of the show is how an allegiance to a code of honour learned on the streets of their native New Jersey got them through a multitude of challenges: gambling debts, Mafia threats and family disasters. Jersey Boys is a glimpse at the people behind a sound that has managed to endure for over many decades in the hearts of the public.

Audition Process Everyone MUST SING a song. Please refer to the Singing Audition section below for more information.!

Every person will be required to complete a reading audition. Readings will be provided after Orientation and will be available on our website, engadinems.com.au.!

Everyone must also complete a movement audition. Movement will be in a group between audition blocks. This will mean you will either audition before you do your dance audition or after you do your dance audition dependent on the time of day. (Please see audition structure below)

If there is overwhelming demand or difficulty with casting, auditions/ call backs will continue on Tuesday 5th April at 7.30pm.

SINGING AUDITION Please prepare a song or excerpt of a song in the style of the show that showcases your vocal range.

Song time will be capped at 3 minutes. The Production Team may ask you to stop earlier so please ensure you showcase your talent within the earlier part of the song.

We may also check your vocal range with a scale or vocal exercise following your song.

If you are auditioning for Frankie Valli, in addition to your chosen song, you will also be asked to sing short excerpts from "Sherry” (bars 20-38) and "Walk Like a Man” (bars 46-60) (available on website - engadinems.com.au following Orientation). Frankie's excerpts will be accompanied by our audition pianist - you will not need to provide sheet music for this component of your audition.

MOVEMENT AUDITION Everyone auditioning must complete a movement audition. We will also rely on the information on your audition form to highlight your dancing /movement abilities.

Those auditioning for dancers may be asked to perform an additional short piece that will be taught on the day or given the opportunity to improvise during the main movement audition.

READING AUDITION Because of the company nature of this show and the number of cameo parts, everyone will be required to read. This may be a generic reading or for a specific part. The accent is American, mostly specific to New Jersey and the leads will need to use a Jersey accent (think Abbott and Costello) There are loads of instruction videos on YouTube that can assist.

Readings will be available on the EMS website (engadinems.com.au) following Orientation. Note, the person you are reading for does not necessarily reflect the role you are being considered for.!!Readings will be following your vocal audition. If there are multiple parts you are auditioning for, please start with the reading for the role you most want.

Callbacks Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, April 5 from 7.30pm. People required for callbacks will be contacted by a member of the casting panel. Please ensure you write your contact details correctly and clearly on your audition form. !

Additional callbacks, if required, will be held on Friday, 8 April from 7.30pm.

Results Results will be posted on the EMS website (engadinems.com.au). Auditionees will not be contacted individually.
