What is a...
Monologue: A work written to be spoken by just one person. This may be full-length, or simply a solo passage within a longer work. The focus may be on an imaginary character, or the audience itself.
Soliloquy: A speech in which an actor, alone on stage, speaks his or her thoughts aloud.
Audition: The act of reading for a part in a play. In the case of a musical, it may include singing and dancing.
Resume: A written record of an actor’s performance experience and skills, to be given to the auditioner.
For your audition...
you will choose and prepare two contrasting pieces, either two monologues, or one monologue and one song from a musical.
one standard introduction will be given at the beginning of both pieces.
the total time of performance will be two minutes.
Your resume...
will include your headshot.
will include all of your true performance experience, including classes, plays, and workshops
may include additional “creative” performance experience.
will follow the format provided to you as a sample.
The Resume
A written copy of any previous acting work you might have done. List roles you’ve played in school or college stage productions, community theatre productions, your voice and/or dance training, and other skills (e.g., juggling, skateboarding, gymnastics).

The Resume
Produce an acting resume that accurately presents your experience and achievements. This document should ideally be a one-page document that lists your theatrical, film, and commercial experience. A good idea is to sub-divide your acting resume so that each part of your career is clearly explained.

Resume Dos and Don’ts
Don’t lie about your experience just to fill in an area
Don’t make a resumer larger than 8.5 X 11. Stick to one page.
Do consider appropriate font choices, print quality, and have a friend proofread it before you print.
Do include a headshot. Make sure the headshot clearly shows your face.
Do include up to date contact information
