PRESIDENT’S REPORTWell here it is, 2016, the festive season has gone in a flash, and the second month of the year is well under way. From Pam and I, a belated Happy New Year to all and trust you had a very relaxing break over the festive period.

What’s on the calendar? THE 2016 - PAJERO CLUB MUSTER at Moonambel on the 25th to the 28th March. This is a perfect time to unwind and spend quality time with your fellow Pajero Club members. I know Shaun and Rusty have quite an entertaining programme put together which will appeal to all members.

Check out the flyer on the following pages. More Muster information will be presented at the February general meeting.

STOP PRESS - 2017 PAJERO CLUB CHALLENGE IS HAPPENING Read on for further details...............

Thanks to the great work of the Pajero Club Challenge sub committee, and Lael Lea for taking on the role of Challenge coordinator, I am pleased to announce that the Pajero Club Challenge will resume in 2017. Watch this space for more details.

What’s been happening in the background?

Now, while most of us have been enjoying a well earned break over the last couple of months, your committee have been very busy working on Pajero Club matters.

Example - Frank Amato has been finalising the ‘New Look’ Pajero Club public web site with the assistance of many other members support. Definitely don’t miss the February meeting for the launch of the new Pajero Club Web Site along with the exciting members on line app being put together by our Club Media Officer, Paul Hicks.

Pajero Club Strategy Meeting - January 2016

This was a very successful day brainstorming with the objective being to further develop the clubs interests, with the result being many positive outcomes. Some of the major discussion points were as follows:

* Club trips booking out so quickly.

* Diverse trips of various types to increase participation and interest. E.G. Fishing, Caravanning, Bush Walking etc.

* Membership - maintaining a healthy club membership number.

* Assisting members get more involved running trips.

* Provide Portfolio of ready to run trips. (See Vice Presidents Report over page)

* Bring a guest, not just to the meeting, but also on trips.

* To simplify some administration forms and procedures.

The committee will in the next few months, fine tune the above points and publish the final outcome.

RRG - Rural Response Group, a Pajero Club initiative set up in 2009 specifically to assist individuals in rural Victoria during times of fire, flood or other natural disasters. Our coordinator Geoff Strahan and his assistants are liaising with local authorities informing them of the resources that the Pajero Club can provide.

Please keep your eye on eTrips for any assistance required for support that may be required for income dependant farmers in the Lancefield and Wye River fires.

I look forward to seeing you all at the February meeting on the 20th.

V I C E P R E S I D E N T R E P O R TWelcome to 2016 – many of you are having the same thoughts I am….. ”wow – where did the time go?”

Well we’re getting back into the swing of things, children and grandchildren are back to school and ‘normal’ life will be resumed, so is it time to plan the next trip? Maybe you have enough time for a day trip? Maybe you can have the weekend? Maybe you need to start thinking about a little longer. Well the Club is all about getting the members out and about and enjoying the company of like-minded individuals.

Looking forward we need to get more people involved in organising and running trips. We are only as good as the trips we run and the events we organise, without these would you still pay your membership? But we need members to put the trips together. We cannot always rely on ‘someone else’ to do it for us.

Running a trip is not hard. There are two main reasons, I believe, for not putting up your hand. Time is the first – unfortunately the Club can’t do much about this. The second reason is doubt, uncertainty and, dare I say it, fear. These feelings are all completely understandable and every person who has run a trip, I would suggest, will have also experienced those very fears. However, those very members are also able to now help you - if only they were asked. Look for the green trucks on badges. These are all trip leaders with 5, 10, 20 and more trips under their belts. Ask them, I am sure they will help you in your endeavour, assisting in your planning and organisation, and in many cases, even come with you if you ask them.

Further to this, I will be collecting and collating information on trips that you will be able to access and use to help in the planning of a trip. The Club has run many trips in the past and there is no reason why these could not form the basis of another trip. So I will be asking members if they have information and details of a trip they have organised that they could send through to me. With the work behind the scenes in the Committee we will be able to have this information available to members to access. This is a proposal and I haven’t quite got all the details of format sorted, but I have the following thoughts…

Trips organised under the following headings:

- Day Trips

- Weekend Trips

- Mid-Week trips

- Long Weekend Trips

- Extended Trips

So what information would be useful then?

- Start and Finish points

- Trip Standard

- Way points / route / points of interest worth stopping at / ones to avoid

- Distance and expected time required (we all know that the unexpected can happen)

So – your thoughts? Would this be useful to potential trip leaders? Would it help to know that there is a trip route already available for you to have a look at to provide ideas or actually provide the route altogether?

Please let me know your thoughts, especially, if there are ideas about how to format the information to ensure it is useful to members.

Please consider this and get in touch at [email protected]

EDITORS REPORTAs you would have seen in the announcement at the front of this edition i will not be re nominating as editor going forward. Business commitments are becoming increasingly draining and travel plans in the next few years will not allow me to place energy/time into magazine production at key times of the month. The clubs new ‘Public’ website will be my main focus going forward, i’ll be able to access it and make changes as required anywhere with internet connectivity.

If you have the skills to step into the role or would like to learn the ropes then please get in touch with me to discuss. Three years ago i stepped in knowing very little about being an editor/desktop publisher, it’s been a great learning curve. To ease the pressure Tracy Lay will continue to produce the trip reports as they come in, she’s a gem!

The magazine is a crucial part of the Pajero Club’s culture, don’t let it slip away or become something lesser. As a valued committee member you will have input into the clubs operations and be the first point of contact with all of the clubs sponsors and suppliers.

Reminding all that are submitting trip reports to please have a read of the footnote below.... it makes the transfer of text and participant details so much quicker and easier to enter come production time.

eMAG notification is now being sent from the editor directly and no longer via e-trip’s. If you are reading the hard copy version of this edition and you didn’t receive the email please check your junk mail folder. If it’s not there please let me know and i’ll chase it up. Also reminding that the eMAG link and financial/membership reports will be posted upon the club’s website ‘members only section’ the Sunday evening before each monthly meeting. Use this option as a back up if you’ve missed the email or are away from email and wish to log on from a ‘guest’ computer somewhere on your journey.Any questions regarding the eMAG or hard cop magazine please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.

TECH TALK TECH TALK The Pajero - Past, Present and Beyond

with Cha Ratnatunga

The press releases are flowing with mixed messages about the future of Pajero. We still don’t know for

sure what the future beholds.

In the automotive industry, every product decision boils down to business feasibility/viability. There could

be two aspects to the future of an All-Terrain Pajero. Firstly, the market demands show that buyers want

SUV’s (Sport Utility Vehicle) to have all the characteristics (mainly handling) of a car or cross over vehicle.

The Pajero, though leading in its class, falls way back in this area. This is because it was made for ‘All

Terrain’ and Mitsubishi did an excellent compromise. Secondly, the European emissions standards by 2020

will make it virtually impossible for the Pajero to comply with.

Hypothetically, a generation 5 Pajero would have to be a lot lighter with a smaller more efficient engine. So

the fact that Mitsubishi is not investing in a design along the current Pajero model makes absolute sense.

It simply won’t be a Pajero anymore. Taking the analysis a bit further, the new Pajero Sport does not have

Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) - a true characteristic of the NM-NX Pajero range. That is probably why

they decided to keep Pajero name and include ‘Sport’ to differentiate it from the true iconic Pajero. All very

strategic I think.

Now, in the second part of this article, I would like to address the perception the media make about the

Pajero being outdated. To help me illustrate this, I have profiled the model releases of the Toyota Prado

and Pajero from 2004 -2010. These features are from to the manufacturer’s specification.

T E C H TA L KAs shown, the Prado – the direct adversary has not changed much (in fact over a longer period). The

improvements in power of the NT diesel Pajero amounts to 18% over the previous NS model The Land

Rover Discovery and Jeep Wrangler have also not changed much over the years. The Land Rover Defender

production ran for 25 years.

It is fair to say that the Pajero design is way ahead of its time and Mitsubishis didn’t have to do much to

keep it abreast with new automotive developments. It is probably the first time a model production run

has reached ten years. This maybe the reason why the Pajero lovers are eagerly waiting for the ‘All New”

model.

The Pajero will live on and it certainly has the durability to keep going for decades. It would be sad to

come to terms with not having production of the current Pajero. However, there are enough Pajero’s and

enthusiasts to keep the legend live and moving.

On a different note, I would like feedback on Tech Talk so far. If you have any queries or would like more

Thursday 5th November (Continued)

Mid afternoon arrived and we’d reached the intersection of Pella Track and Chinaman Well Track. It was time to head back. We retraced our steps along Pella Track until we came to an exit gate. Going through the gate this time we picked up the Pigick-Pella Road which was different and very interesting as it hugged the farm – park boundary and marked the extremity of early land clearing in this area.

We were back at camp in time for fivesees and enjoyed a pleasant evening around the campfire. Although we had expectations of rain during the day we actually had only a few light scattered showers. We heard that nearby Murrayville, where we had planned to go, had received the previous evening some 84mm of rain in 10 minutes !! How lucky were these campers !!! Submitted by Neil Phillips - 1744, with added comments from Ron Reed - 963

Friday 6th NovemberThis morning the Corbetts head home as Toby is working later today. The group is now down to Neil Phillips, the Smiths and Reeds. We drove from Western Beach via Rainbow to the lovely Kiata campsite. After setting up camp, we decided to take a run out on some tracks. We took various tracks on the Eastern end of the Little Desert NP including the Salt Lake Track and the River Track to the Wimmera River where we had lunch. Neil, our resident geologist and botanist, was able to explain many interesting features of the landscape, along the way. Sadly the geocache “Genie in the bottle” has disappeared, well cremated. It was a casualty of a bushfire in this area just a little while ago. Lunch was at a river frontage location on the Wimmera River. Great tracks in this area, firm but often evidence of very heavy recent rains.

We arrived at the top north-east corner of the Little Desert NP and, as arranged, Neil exited the trip and headed home via Dimboola, which was just a few km away. We followed some of the northern boundary tracks, McCabes Hut Track and finally Pump Jack Track. All excellent soft sand tracks, some challenges, and the driving was a pleasure.

Back at camp it was a pleasant evening with fivesees beside the campfire. Dinner followed with some satellite spotting as we enjoyed the warmth of the fire. A cool cloudless night on the plains. A great day.

Saturday 7th NovemberWith the prediction of the large storm front, a decision had been made to avoid doing the Border Track system at this time with just the two vehicles. We are going to rebook this trip next year, as there is much interest. Ron worked out some tracks through the Central section of the Little Desert NP, somewhere we had not travelled much before. We found some great tracks and encountered juvenile grass trees growing and flowering on the roadside in a small pocket.

We drove along the Northern Boundary Track which gave us an interesting view of farmland on one side and National Park on the other. It was amazing to see how many fires there had been in the area, resulting in a large regrowth of grass trees in particular, in various stages of development. Travelling along Beekeepers Track nearby, the grass trees and the wildflowers seem

to be very happy companions. Bees were numerous, especially in the flowering grass trees. Many hives have been located in the area. It was agreed that we had never seen so many grass trees in one place before, albeit they were waiting on a fire to trigger their flowering process. Although they only grow a few centimetres a year they seem to have taken over the whole plain. Most of the tracks we drove along were quite driveable, although there were some hairy places! We returned to camp for lunch.

This was our second visit to the Little Desert National Park with the Pajero Club and was again, a wonderful experience. Ron and Carol were heading home and packed up but Gary and Bev decided to stay on overnight and do some walks around Kiata before heading home on Sunday. Composite report from Gary & Bev Smith - 1409 & Carol Reed - 963

RON: Thank you to all who attended both Part A and Part B. It was a great group and the team work was perfect. We had quite a variation in weather conditions which resulted in plans being redrawn on the fly, but in the end we saw a lot, did a lot and had a lot of fun doing it. See you all on the tracks again soon. Travelling the Desert Tracks

Tuesday - 17th November The meeting point for the trip was the Farmers Place farmers market on Anglesea Road, Freshwater Creek which is about 5 km from the end of the Geelong Freeway. The trip participants all gathered in the cafe at 10.30am for a coffee and trip briefing. After a short exploration of the vegetable gardens and stocking up on freshly baked bread for lunches the group departed for an alternate Great Ocean Road drive to Lorne.

We headed to Anglesea via the defunct Alcoa power plant and open cut mine. There were some easy sand tracks such as power station track and Alcoa Boundary Track which we looped around before rejoining the main road. Not much further down the road we diverted to follow a power line track which paralleled the main road towards Lorne. Eventually we circled past Lorne and drove in to town from the west.

After securing our accommodation for the evening and erecting tents the group met at the Lorne hotel for a refreshing drink with an ocean view followed by a delicious pub meal.

Wednesday - 18th November Our second day was spent exploring a number of tracks between Lorne and Forrest. After a leisurely breakfast the group looped around Lorne on a well disguised road marked as a no through road but which became a through 4WD track to those in the know. We then headed west on the Great Ocean Road before turning inland to enjoy the Otways tracks which were unfamiliar to most of the group. Tracks enjoyed included Mt. Sabine Road, Cowley Track , Hayden Track, Newcombe Spur Track, Thompson Track, Kennett Road and Kennett Wye Jeep Track. We had hoped to exit via Coopers No. 2 track but unfortunately found a closed gate blocking access.

Lunch on this day was in the lovely bush town of Forrest where some bought local pies and coffee and some enjoyed lunch from the car fridges. The Forrest Brewery was an interesting local business and several bottles of various brews were acquired for later consumption when back home.

Today provided the main highlight for those of us with Pajero’s. We had the honour of using a Pajero to recover a stuck Landcruiser 200. In fairness, Alan was encouraged to take a more challenging line through a rutted mud hole which turned out to have very deep ruts which beached the ‘Cruiser on its belly. Russ was pleased to be able to use his winch in anger with supervision from Simon. It turned out to be a simple recovery providing some valuable unofficial training and much lighthearted mirth at Alan’s expense.

The Otways provided many great sights during the day with ocean views appearing from time to time as we drove the tracks. There were also numerous animal sightings, mainly wallaby but also echidna and many bird species.

After the unexpected recovery and redirection due to locked gates we made our way out on to the Great Ocean Road and returned to Lorne for our second night. After some refreshments, nibbles and a lovely BBQ we all turned in with expectations of an interesting day 3 ahead. Tony Lear - 1400

Melbourne Cup Weekend 2015 – Sambain Chalet -TamborithaIt didn’t matter what event gave us a 4-day weekend – it was a weekend to get away from email, internet, Facebook and work. This was the first time that my family and I stayed in the Tamboritha Chalet. We were pleasantly surprised. The accommodation was rustic and comfortable; the kitchen was well set up, clean and large. We had hot showers and flushing toilets in one of the remotest areas of the High Country. Given all that, it was also an excellent base for driving some of the great tracks that the High Country could offer.

Barry arranged some nice drives during the weekend; including Mt. Wellington, Dingo Hill, Butcher Country, Mt. Margaret, B1 track and more. We managed to visit a couple of High Country Huts; as well as visit waterfalls, mountain peaks and drive several picture perfect river crossings.

The weather was cooler than expected for the Spring Season, however the fireplace in the Chalet gave a comfortable stay and some ambience to top off our stay. It was good to see some familiar faces on this trip and it was also good to meet some new ones. Thank you Barry for organizing a great weekend. Alberto Pamintuan - 875

We were privileged to be able to bring two of our grandsons [aged 9 & 13] on the trip and allow them to experience the thrill of 4WD driving in a safe environment. It was also an opportunity for them to enjoy the scenery, smells and excitement of wonderful Victorian High Country.

The children loved doing both “verticals’ on the hill climbs and looking down at the descents. Crossing mountain rivers was fun. Listening to the radio chatter kept them in the picture and aware of group progress, challenges and achievements. The opportunity to camp out in a tent and build one’s own fire [even in the rain] and enjoy its warmth in the cold was a highlight and stuff memories are made of.

Everyone in the group was welcoming of the children and we thank Barry for his great leadership. John & Beverley Cook - 1038

We had a mechanical breakdown with our Pajero on the way back to the lodge on the Monday and was towed back to the main road by John Cook so extra damage was done to the Pajero, thanks John. Kathy and I are back in Melbourne with a repaired vehicle. Glen from RACV Hayfield was great. He arrived through the fog pretty much on time, quickly loaded us and we were on our way to Hayfield. We had the joy of great company through the very thick fog as we worked our way slowly down the mountain, fortunately the fog cleared and we had a good run to Hayfield. We saw plenty of wild life on the night drive - many wombats, wallabies, litter of fox cubs, possums, a few humans and so on.

Thanks to everyone who helped with our recovery - it was a great learning experience!!! (John - I will have a set of Maxtrax to you soon)

RACV Total care had organized a motel room for us in Hayfield and we arrived there at about 11pm (the system worked well). Next morning we had a leisurely start and made our way back to Melbourne.

It appears that there were many other breakdowns and recoveries over the Cup weekend up in the High Country in our vicinity. Unfortunately there was also a vehicle accident (I understand the people are OK) which required recovery. Hayfield RACV (Aerial Motors) was still dealing with the assortment of recovered vehicles when I picked our repaired vehicle up yesterday. They also had to recover several vehicles back to Melbourne due to the scale and nature of the repair work.

Despite the minor broken driveshaft and the days of mucking around that followed, Kathy and I had a great weekend and thoroughly enjoyed everyone’s company and our drives through some stunning Hi country.

A special thanks to Barry for organizing another great weekend. Grant and Kathy Cavenagh - 1651

The cup weekend is one of my favourite long weekends during the year not just because it is 4 days, that’s just a bonus. After advertising the trip it came together slowly, then a couple of members pulled out and it was looking like I might not have the numbers needed to cover the costs, but as it got closer to the weekend a few club members contacted me in the off chance I still had room on the trip. (Always try the trip leader if you are free at the last minute).

We ended up with a good mix of long time members and new members who all blended in well together over the 4 days, lots of great conversations and food around the kitchen and lounge area each evening. Also there was a camp fire going outside most nights thanks to John Cook’s grandsons, well done boys.

We covered a couple of different tracks this year and some that we try to do each year, a few (4) of us travelled home via the Burgeons Track through the McCalister river and across to Walhalla on the way home, the others in the group went home from Licola store, some through Mansfield and others through Traralgon.

As trip leader I would like to thank all the club members and guests for a great weekend, helping out during the weekend as required and for pitching in on the last day with the clean-up. I am looking forward to next year already.

Barry Walker - 652 (Trip Leader & Photos)

The trip took place in the Toolangi Forest north of Yarra Glen and Healesville.

The plan was to drive some of the more interesting tracks marked on the Rooftop “Toolangi – Black Range Forest Activities Map” as “Rougher tracks may be 4WD” but tried to avoid the harder “Single Tracks” and tracks that would result in pinstripes.

We all met at the bakery at 08:00 and most people had breakfast outside in the sunshine. We drove to the start on Pauls Range Track where we aired down and along Paul’s Track which gave every one taste of things to come. Then on through Toolangi to Spraggs Road, then along Downies Spur Track with some interesting navigation around the bog holes through the trees, then north up Katy Creek Road where we had morning tea at the creek crossing.

Up and across on Marginal Road, south on Klondyke Creek Road and Mount Klondyke Road. Then a quick couple of U-turns where the map was not quite accurate and then north up the length of Aeroplane Track, south on Klondyke Road, west on Kalatha Road to Murrindindi Road and north to the picnic spot at Murrindinidi Cascades for lunch.

After lunch we went north to Wilhelmina Falls View for a view of the dry falls and a group photo. Then south to Walk Creek Road, Ecks Road, on to the misnamed Devils Staircase (there was nothing “Devilish” about it at all) and finally Anderson Spur Track which provided some exiting challenges and a creek crossing before going on to the Black Spur Inn at 15:30hrs to air up, refreshment and social before heading home.

It was great that there were no punctures and no reports of damage. Paul E Harris - 1721

As with previous years, a good group of Pajero Club members volunteered to deliver the presold Christmas trees on behalf of OXFAM. Nancy and I, as per previous years delivered trees on the Sunday 6 Dec 15, arriving at the pickup point at Carlton bright and early at 8:00am.

First surprise was on checking in, when Tamsyn (the OXFAM co-ordinator) handed us a stack of (15) A4 sheets with the delivery details of the recipients ready to load into our GPS. Previously it has been a slip of paper with a delivery address, contact number and a Melways map reference. Unfortunately Nancy and I still rely on the trusty old Melways to navigate around Melbourne.Second surprise was that presented with the number of trees we needed a merry band of Santas’ helpers, quickly had our trailer loaded with our fifteen trees and we noted that pretty much all the trees were of a similar size, so there was no need for sorting trees, as in previous years, into small, medium and large.

Once loaded up, we moved away from the loading area, to park, and sort out our delivery route, first looking up each address in the Melways and noting the maps and references. Having completed this, it was another surprise to note that with one exception, all our trees for delivery were on the one page (map 30, the Thornbury area). With planning sorted we were off, to our first delivery location, with the others following fairly quickly after. During the course of our deliveries, we were even able to have a morning tea break and boil a billy in a nice reserve in the area.

The highlight for us was two small boys, who on seeing the Christmas tree being delivered went screeming off through the house to ensure that Mum & Dad and all the neighbours were well aware of it. I could hear them clearly out in the street from 30 metres away.

Having completed our deliveries by lunchtime, we found a nice spot for lunch then as was always our intention continued on down to Frankston to visit our son and his family.

All in all a very good day.

From OXFAM:Over the course of the weekend, 3,509 trees were delivered, raising $329,528 to support OXFAM’s work.A great effort for all involved. Nancy and I sincerely thank all those involved.

Saturday 5th DecemberI had heard Nancy mention the Christmas tree deliveries at the club meeting but thought that there would be plenty of newer members putting their names down like when I first joined the Pajero club I participated in the tree deliveries for the first 4 or 6 years then somehow I got busy doing other things with the club, while driving around on the way to a job I heard the rep from Oxfam on 774 mention that they had sold a lot of extra trees this year and also they were selling them in Sydney as well, and the Sydney trees would be delivered by courier as it was their first year in Sydney, any way he was saying that he thought that there was a need for a few more 4WD volunteers to deliver the extra trees in Melbourne. So when I got home I mentioned it the Cathy and she said that I should do it, but she could not help as her back was still not too good that is when my son piped up and asked what was involved, I said that it was an easy job all we had to do was load the trees in the trailer and go to the list of address that the Oxfam people would have prepared for us and take the tree to the front door and wish the people a Merry Christmas, he said that he would help.It was a bit late to send an email so I rang Peter Miller and asked if he could add my name to the list, and that I would prefer to do the Saturday (South –East side of Melbourne), he said that I was just in time as he was sending in the names the next day, but I would not have mattered as he could add names up until the last couple of days.

So on Saturday the 5th we arrived at the allocated spot about 8-45am in Donvale which turned out to be just past the eastern freeway on Springvale Rd, real easy to find, there were signs out on the road to make it easy. Carpark was a little tight for the Patrol and trailer but we managed to weave our way around the 4x4 vehicles that were already there loading and tying on their trees.Gareth collected our paperwork while I got the 4x4 in position, he arrived back with the list and the number of trees required, as we live in Narre Warren North the Oxfam people had given us deliveries out in our area, the trees were all about the same size this year (6 to 7 foot tall) fitted in the trailer easily. Tied the trees on and we headed off to start the deliveries, as we headed off we thought it was time for our first coffee and just then a 7eleven servo came in sight so in we went for a $2 coffee, so that is enough slacking off and we continued off to the first delivery, we had decided to do the furthest away one first, so Beaconsfield here we come, that completed we did the others and were home for lunch. We found that only about 30% of people were home, some people left us a note as to where to put the tree others left a bucket of water near the front door it all worked well.

We both had an enjoyable morning doing something for others.

Note, I heard on 747 radio a few days later the man from Oxfam rang back to say the from his last broadcast on 747 that the Sydney 4WD clubs had volunteered to deliver the trees for Sydney Oxfam and also that they had extra 4WD members put their names down for deliveries in Melbourne and Geelong so all worked out well this year.

Trip Leader :- Rob Hillman

Day and Date of Activity : - Saturday 12th March - Sunday 20th March

Event Standard :- Medium to Hard

Other Details

Day and Date of Activity : - Saturday 12th March - Sunday 20th March

Location/Description :- This looks like a great event with a lot of variety, so you are invited to come and join me on a

trip, register and travel together as a group from the Pajero Club. The Event is “A High Country Experience” conducted

as a multi-club event under the banner of Four-Wheel-Drive Victoria and welcomes everyone who loves four wheel driving.

This is the Inaugural Buckland and Beyond Event and has been designed to give four-wheel drivers a true High Country experience. Based in the Upper Buckland Valley, North East Victoria, this region is part of the Alpine Shire and is close to not only many wonderful towns, but also provides access to the best the High Country has to offer. Participants will be in

for a real treat, learning about this great region of our state that is full of history from the early explorers and gold miners.

Non-members will pay a small temporary membership fee that provides for personal accident insurance for the event. The Site:- Beveridges Station: Junction of Mt Selwyn Road and Buckland River Road The Buckland Valley is located in

a picturesque valley over the range from Bright in Victoria’s North East. The camping area, will be set up at Beveridge’s Station in the Upper Buckland Valley. Access to the valley is via Porepunkah on the Great Alpine Road. Beveridge’s

Station camping area is approximately 40 kilometres from the roundabout at Porepunkah and is mainly good gravel. You’ll be able to bring your camper, caravan or tent. Depending on weather, fires are allowed. As this area is under the control

of Parks Victoria, amenities will be supplied to meet the environmental requirements, therefore toilets, showers and rubbish disposal will be available. Please note that the area has no mobile telephone reception. The organisers will have

a number of satellite phones for emergency use, but it is only 45 minutes drive from Bright where there are all facilities including shopping and fuel as well as medical facilities.

However, medical and other emergency service providers in Bright will be in contact with the organisers.
