About us

Embrace Doha is an independent cultural house that immerses guests in an authentic Qatari experience. Visitors learn and connect with the community through cultural sessions, events, tours, and shopping local goods. Sessions are held to educate on topics like business etiquette, lifestyles, and traditional clothing in Qatari culture.

Our team of heritage specialists works closely with private and government entities to ensure their events or products are culturally accurate. Embrace Doha assists companies, ministries, and educational entities to develop an understanding of Qatari culture through cultural events and consultancy.

Embrace Doha is also dedicated to giving back to the community through their concept store and gallery of women’s handicrafts. They’re working closely with the few Sadu weavers left in the country to help them sustain themselves.

Whether you’re delving into a session, hosting an event, or taking a tour, Embrace Doha increases awareness of the culture in many ways. Their goal is to act as Qatar’s cultural beacon and torch bearer to increase understanding through education.

Our Qatari Cultural session is designed for guests to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Qatari culture. Through this session, expatriates and visitors will be introduced to Qatar’s rich culture, heritage and traditions. This highly interactive and engaging cultural experience is authentic and covers the norms of Qatari hospitality, greetings, and traditional clothing. Guests are also exposed to authentic Qatari cuisine in the comfort of a traditional majlis.

During the session, we answer questions such as “why do men dress in white” and “how do I greet Qataris appropriately” to big questions such as the influence of the environment on the development of the Qatari culture.

Qatari Cultural Session

Trust, morals, values and ethics are vital pillars in the Arabic work culture and business conduct. Understanding the local culture and the influence it plays in the business world is imperative to having a positive, productive, successful and long-lasting business experience in Qatar. Being a good host is embedded deeply in people from the Middle East; it is an underpinning value that everyone in the region shares. Hospitality can be traced back to the dynamics of tribal systems and their struggle for survival in the harsh desert environment; accepting guests and travelers in a hostile environment and providing them with the best hospitality is considered honorable and widespread. In this session, we explain more about Qatari hospitality and its vital role and significance in the society’s social fabric.

Learn more about how Sadu weaving draped the Qatari culture and lifestyle, and became one of the main representations of Qatari identity through art and heritage.

Sadu weaving is considered to be one of the main representations of Qatari identity. This session informs guests about the history behind this unique handcraft, its process of weaving, the symbolic meaning behind patterns and textiles creatively designed to reflect their way of life, and how this traditional handcrafting reflects many aspects of the Qatari culture.

Sadu Session

Most countries and societies have a traditional dress that distinguishes their unique and creative culture and heritage. In Qatar, men are accustomed to wearing a white thobe and head cover called ghutra . The women wear a ubiquitous black Abaya. Learn the origin and inspiration behind the crafting of these traditional clothes. Learn the significance of these unique outfits and their impact on creating a national identity.

Qatari Outfits (Costume) Session

Marriage customs and arrangements differ from one country to another, this session will take you through the steps and process of getting married, the Qatari way.

Learn about the cultural norms and practices of a Qatari marriage. We cover areas regarding tribal structures and classes, the formalities of requesting hands in marriages, what are arranged marriages, the standard criteria in searching for a spouse, and more.

The sea has always been considered a source of wealth and prosperity to the people of Qatar, this session will introduce you to the lifestyle of the “Hadar” and the challenges they faced in the past.

Qatar is a tiny peninsula surrounded by the Gulf sea. Historically, Qatar’s population could be placed in two categories: the coastal dwellers (sea people) and the inner-land people (Bedouins). Learn how these two demographic groups earned a living, their different occupations, and how they shaped Qatar. Explore questions such as “how did the pearl trade flourish and disappear?” and the discovery of oil and gas on Qatar’s development.

The Qatari Desert -Life (Bedouin) session focuses on the nomadic lifestyle of the traditional Bedouins who inhabited the barren desert lands and coasts.

Qatar’s culture is strongly comprised by traditional Bedouin culture. Learn more about the Bedouin culture, its origins, and its influence on architecture, clothing, and even social status across the country, and how the lifestyle affected the development of a contemporary Qatari society.

Ramadan is the ninth and holiest month of the Islamic Lunar calendar; it is the month where Muslims around the world observe on average 30 days of fasting from dawn until sunset.

Our Ramadan Induction provides a comprehensive overview of the routines during the Holy Month, and how to respectfully enjoy and observe the cultural traditions and etiquette norms of Ramadan.

Walking Food Tour

Attendees have an opportunity to experience souq waqif on this unique walking food tour in Qatar. Hidden away between the intricate pathways of the souq are businesses owned by local families. Here, they serve authentic, local cuisine.

The tour will only stop at restaurants and food stalls that have authentic local food. A majority of these restaurants are owned and run by local women. You will get to try food such as machboos marguga and balalet.

Walking Souq Tour

During the walking souq tour, guests will experience the traditional souq like never before. On this two hour walking tour, guests will learn about the souqs' important history related to the country and its people.

They’ll also learn about the traditional architecture involved in creating the souq and its transition through time. Attendees will locate the wind tower and understand it’s important to a traditional Qatari home, as well as visit dama majlis and understand the significance for pearl divers during off-season.

Shopping Experience at Souq Waqif

Our traditional souq shopping experience allows you to shop the authentic local way. Visit authentic local shops and understand traditional cultural objects, materials, and handicrafts’ techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation.

The tour is two hours long and is conducted in English by a licensed tour guide. Insurance is included. Other languages such as Russian, French, Italian, German, and Chinese can be arranged upon request. Transportation is not included.
