INTRODUCNOil -The geodesic dome of bamboo to be erected with the help of experts in the field. Students are

expected to get hands on experience of the tools involved in making joinery along with creatiog

the spatial structure of around 7 m dia. Teams of students are supposed to come up with their'\-<-. own design ideas at the conclusion of the workshop, the models of which shall be displayed at

annual exhibition to be held on 2nd, 3'd & 4th January 2019.

OBJECTIVES -To understand bamboo as a material, its application, uses, advantages and ioinerydetailsTo gain practical knowledge of bamboo as construction material through hands onworking.To sensitize students towards bamboo as a sustainable building material.

Aim:. To explore patterns in geometry and simplify them using basic rules ofgeometry. Adopt the

patterns to create Unit.. Repeating the unit to arrive at a progressive or fractal pattern.. Usin8 the pattern explore various making techniques like weave, connect, ioin and build a

human scale form. To erect the form withbasic functions around or within it.Learnlnt Obiectivc :

. To Understand simple geometric patterns.

. learn to set rules to develop rule based pattern

. To explore unit and repetition in Two dimensional and threedimensional teometry

. To explore making materials like Bamboo, Corru8ated Board, Petbottles, Rope and Used

flex with various properties. To make large size pattern based models with hand on skills to belearnt..To understand form and basic functions once the installation is ready.

Methodolo6y:. One pre workshop module on fractals and unit and repetition will berun by both

institutes prior to the actual workshop. The patterns created in Pre Workshop Module will be ldentified andCurated by the

faculty for final making modules to be erected durin8workshop.. During 3 days of workshop the students willcreate prototypes, loint them in a rule based

The ftomes were joined logelher by stripsof sliced bomboo of vorious lenglhs thol gove il o dynomicond poromelric form.During nexl two doys, lhe sludents used lhe lechniquesleornl for o smoll 4' x 4' module on o lorger scole lo mokeo hyperbolic povilion of 20' X 20'. The povllion consisled of8lriongulor fromes which were,ioined logether by nut-boltsyslem ond supporled by bomboo props initiolly. As lhestrips of sliced bomboo were fitted, the props could beremoved.
