20. Three gladiolus varieties developed by Prof. Anil Kumar Singh, Dr. Anjana

Sisodia and Dr. Akhilesh Kumar Pal were released. The details of the varieties

are given below.

1. Malviya Kiran - A white coloured gladiolus variety with dark red-purple coloured

throat on lower petals developed through gamma irradiation. It is a mid season variety

that takes about 81 days from corm planting to flowering. It produces long spikes with

about 19 florets/spike. This variety is a good multiplier which produces about 2.33

corms/plant.

2. Malviya Shatabdi - A gladiolus variety produces white coloured flowers with pinkish

tinge. It is developed through gamma irradiation. It has red throat on lower petals. It is

a mid season variety that takes about 83 days from corm planting to flowering. It

produces about 16.5 florets/spike. This variety is very good multiplier that produces

about 3.00 corms/plant.

3. Malviya Kundan - It is a light yellow coloured gladiolus variety developed through

gamma irradiation. It has compact and robust spikes that produce about 17 bigger size

florets in a spike. Florets of this variety are ruffled. It blooms in about 101 days from

corm planting to flowering. This variety is a good multiplier which produces about

2.00 corms and 47.46 cormels per plant.
