During the Jurassic period, shallow seas formed and lots of rain fell. The deserts shrunk and tropical forests spread across the world.

More dinosaurs evolved: there were giant plant eaters, fierce meat-eaters and armoured dinosaurs. The first birds also evolved during this time.
