I am Disabled and cannot use a bus bike, I have to use a car i am finding it difficult to use my car asthe road are getting narrower and narrower due to all the cycle tracks being put on the roads.

I don't have anywhere to keep a cycle.

Cyclists are a contribution to congestion by slowing traffic down. Also when cars overtake them itcauses danger to other vehicle uses. Cyclists mostly do not use cycle lanes.

I dislike cycling on busy, fast roads. I have done it, but usually can't be bothered. I much prefer proper,well-maintained, good quality infrastructure - like that in Holland.

Showers at destination Better destinations giving reason to cycle More efficient routes More priority forcyclists - eg in waiting traffic Having more people cycling around me

Having a better bike and feeling it was safe to leave it

Secure bike storage for city centre apartment blocks

More cycle paths to outer city areas, ie Gedling.

Better and more consistent signage to motorists that there is a cycle route

having decent weather so you not freezing cold and unable to feel your hands

More stylish bikes

Improved behaviour of some vehicle drivers

Cycling treated as important not just some after thought. So ways to navigate city centre, segregatedroutes in city centre, more contraflow to get through the complex one way systems

An established easily accessible, cycling related social infrastructure.

Better drainage on some cycle paths. For example, the cycle path from the meadows, along the Trent(past riverside retail park) to the underpass underneath the A52. It regularly floods when it rains!

Less abuse from drivers, better driving, respect of ASLs etc by drivers, huge drop in pollution, cyclelanes separate from cars and buses and not just painted on but segregated like in Holland etc, betterroad surfaces, more people cycling so we became a majority and not a quite often disrespectedminority, better education for all road users, other cyclists obeying road rules properly

More cycle groups/more friends that cycle

Road users seem to be quite hostile to cyclists and some deliberately pull in front and honk their hornsto startle. Riding on the roads is scary but riding on pavements is not allowed so where there is nochoice but to go on the roads, if it is a busy road, it is quite scary.

Efficiency of route - eg having limited crossing points eg Arkwright Street area-Trent Bridge Verylimited cycle space

Cycle lanes sharing bus lanes, in particular the pollution and feeling threatened by close buses, I nowwear a mask but asthma much worse when city cycling

Lack of safe storage at destinations in the city or at places like parks and nature reserves, where Iwant to shop or walk. My bike represents a significant portion of my assets and I can't afford to haveto replace it if it is damaged or stolen while I am shopping or walking. Proper closed lockers with keysare needed. I would be happy to pay the equivalent of a parking charge to use them.

Tram lines again as my husband had a nasty accident on the tram lines

other walkers just walk out in front of you dog walkers dogs off lead or dogs on these long leads dogwalker on one side of the path dog on the other side of the path especially on the tow paths beestoncanel

lack of cycle paths (dedicated) on many main routes, I know it needs funding but its money well spentas the research shows, re congestion and air pollution reduction

inadequate or inappropriate road management systems A perfect example - 5 miles from my home isan octagonal stop sign printed onto a standard rectangle road sign

I use cycle routes wherever possible, but a lot of cycle routes in the end re-join traffic, i.e. it's notjoined up cycle routes yet

People shouting from cars, and when they drive dangerously but still blame cyclists, laws that don'tprotect cyclists enough, people driving whilst using mobiles not being punished enough (I see loads allthe time), bus drivers who hoot when there is no danger or drive so close behind that they are almosttouching you so if you swerve or fall they would run you over

Lack of awareness from pedestrians Lack of knowledge of routes + quality of signage, surface qualityand route choices of some cycle route

When you cycle where do you cycle to? (e.g. from home to work or area/s etc.)

Daily Commute (Morning and Evening) is from Lady Bay to the City - depending on the weather thisranges from the very direct route via Trent Bridge (an absolute horrid cycling enviroment), ArkwrightWalk, Carrington Street, Fletcher Gate. At all other times off road routes are used as much aspossible - during winter on dry days this route changes to the much safer and pleasent route viaWilford Toll Bridge and then one of Queen's Walk or Birdcage Walk/Lenton Lane/Castle Boulevard orQueen's Drive/RingRoad/Canal/CastleBoulervard via Canal Bridge near Sainsbury's. In summer thisroute includes loops via Holme Pierpont Country Park and/or The Big Track. Other frequent cycleroutes are mainly via the off road "network" and paths alongside NET Line 1, but also to and fromColwick Park via the The Suspension Bridge / Canal Path / City Link Sneinton Greenway, and alsoother Canal/Riverside paths from Sawley to Gunthope.

I cycle to work at the QMC from Colwick, soon to be moving to Gedling where I will carry on cycling. Ialso cycle into the city centre for leisure and use the cycle hub in Fletcher Gate carpark.

into and out of centre of Nottingham, eg to theatre, Broadway, libraries, shops. Also along river forpleasure

I usually cycle around my local area and sometimes to work if there is somewhere for me lock my bikeup.

Inherent vulnerability of cyclist when mixing with other traffic.

Not enough wide cycle lanes. Not confident on the road, using roundabouts etc. Live in quite a hillypart of Nottingham too! Not an experienced cyclist. Due to shifts would have to travel in the dark too.

There is always debris in the road when cycling up Woodborough Road. I cycle from the top ofHuntingdon Street down to BBC roundabout every day and the driving from other road users seemsparticularly bad on this stretch.

Lots of areas

St Annes/Mapperley Park

All routes into the city suffer with sunken gully covers which are a major problem for cyclists.

Able to ride a bike in safety to get to places of interest, such as Wollaton Hall. Not sure where all theofficial safety cycle routes are around the City Centre to get to places like Wollaton Hall without ridinga bike on the main roads.

Many main roads are in a poor state of repair, especially around the "pavement meets road" area. There is often little or no space for bikes on the road and other road users show little or no awarenessof cyclists who may need to avoid parked cars, pot holes, drain covers or road debris. i have had carswhizz past me, pull up in front of me and then open their door to get out whilst I am trying to passthem. We need designated cycle lanes which have no stopping rules for cars

Chilwell High Road

Ring road, Middleton Boulevard Western Boulevard.

Western Boulevard into Basford towards the climbing centre Sneinton towards west bridgfordWoodside road bike path is in very bad repair and difficult to safely ride

Hemphill vale to bulwell

North of the city to sherwood

Carlton Road, Woodborough Road, any route from the City towards Gedling/Mapperley. It is a hillyarea so needs WIDE cycle lanes.

I often cycle around Hyson Green which has a lot of traffic and trams. It is he idly populated so Isuspect a lot of people would like better cycling zones

From Gedling for sure. (Tram would be nice here too)

Lenton, Hyson Green and Forest Fields.

Quite a lot of the cycle routes are on the pavement and blocked by pedestrians and cars - also youhave to dismount to get across side roads. Cycle routes should be part of the road not the pavementso that cycles can go as fast as they like and have right of way at side roads.

It would be great to have a dedicated cycle path from bulwell to Nottingham. At present it stops at thetram depot

The ring road (Valley Road)

Round QMC roundabout

Cyclists should use off road paths NOT PAVEMENTS.

Wollaton.

Derby Road

There are good cycle lanes but they need to be marked out more clearly as HGV's and buses getclose to them, I feel that cycle lanes should be clearly separated by a curb

Victoria embankment,

on my ride in to the city centre, I use the published cycle routes, but those parts of the route where Iam sharing the road with powered vehicles make me feel very vulnerable. I much prefer to beseparated from the traffic, but am a little more comfortable where there is a cycle lane painted on theroad, (even if parked vehicles make it very hazardous by forcing me out into the powered traffic lane.)

Mansfield Rd

Train station

Approaches to Wollaton Park

Route along Mansfeld Road, from city boundary at Daybrook to city centre. A quick and easy fix wouldbe to extend the existing bus lanes along the whole route and to make them 24 hour. London Roadfrom BBC offices to Trent Bridge. To be blunt, almost all roads! I'm looking forward to using theCastle Boulevard route soon, but why is the bit that's open (near the furniture shop at the Radford end)built in the car-door zone?! That's ridiculous and any safety conscious cyclist would not use the cyclelane!

Everywhere, look at the Netherlands as an example. Cycle paths and space to park bikes everywhere.Sage for adults as well as children.

The A610 is a great route into town but it is really dangerous during rush hour.

Everywhere. Some of the new cycling infrastructure is particularly dangerous - Haydn Rd, near HarveyHadden where cycle lanes are squeezed between parked cars & moving traffic. Mapperley andSherwood are terrifying. Sneinton is also terrifying.

Ring road from Arnold to qmc. Cycle path although improved is ignored by cars who still think theyhave right of way. At times it is a lot easier to cycle on the main road

Primarily all main arterial routes in and out of the city centre and across the city and then I would bemore likely to leave the car at home when shopping.

please develop strategy and plan which has as much backing/impetus as the tram phase 1 and 2.Radical 10 year strategy needed with big aims and objectives, don't be timid. new upgraded routes intocity great but need to connect into countryside with other authorities involved. look at upgrading somefootpaths to paved shared/seperate cycle lanes so that there are routes to east leake, Loughboroughetc which are off road most of the way

Derby Road. Qmc to city

Getting to anywhere in the city centre is problematic currently - and heading from Trent Bridgerequires a very convoluted approach (or mixing with very heavy traffic). Depending on howConnecting Eastside and the Island Site link in with the wider city centre network could well besignificant improvements here (although the Wilford Suspension Bridge is a long detor - cycle routesare needed across Trent Bridge) Broadmarsh blocking the southern approach doesn't help - ideallyLister Gate would be used due to the shallower gradients (although I understand using that would bevery difficult and too busy with shoppers!) and the proposed changes at the Broadmarsh endespecially seem to be a case of giving up on cycling provision and letting cyclists and pedestriansmingle at the point there will be the largest number of cyclists (e.g. on the Castle Boulervard routewhich gives up at Wilford Street). Outside that getting to anywhere in the city requires mixing withheavy traffic, poor substandard paths, or convoluted routes - the proposed routes for the Eastern andWestern Corridors will help fix some of the substandard stuff, but only part of the bulk of the city willbenefit from the Northern Corridor unless these gains a couple of legs like the Clifton one. The routestoo and from Clifton aren't that bad actually, and since the A453 widending has been completed thatarea of the city should be reasonably good (depending on how some of the tidying up street furnituregoes on the southern corridor works). It would be nice if the residents of Clifton could be linked toRushcliffe Country Park though - e.g. by improving the footway from Asher Lane to Pasture Lane, andproviding a cycleway from Pasture Lane to Fairham school going round the end of the GCRN.

I think the city centre would benefit from being more pedestrianised with shared spaces for walkingand cycling, I therefore support where this is proposed in the Broadmarsh bus station area. I also thinkthat upper and lower parliament street need separated cycle lanes such as those currently being builton the western cycle corridor. Outside of the city centre I think commonly used commuting roadssuch as the ring road would benefit from becoming cycle superhighways, built to the same quality asthe western corridor. To make cycling easy and effortless, cyclists shouldn't be expected to stop forcars joining the highway from side streets like pedestrians, likewise they shouldn't have to keep goingup and down lowered kerbs at these junctions as this causes punctures and buckled wheels, insteadthey should benefit from a single, separated and flat piece of Tarmac.

The whole city. We need a decent network covering as much of the city as possible.

ring road

A606 Melton Road from Keyworth into Ruddington clear cycle path needed along tramroute onMeadow Way into City Centre Road on route to Meadow Way (near Wickes) needs cycle pathextending as suddenly stops and becomes parking spaces prior to Meadow Way

ALL ROADS. Too many squeeze points where the roads suddenly get rid of cycle provision andexpects you to merge into traffic doing 40mph (even in 20 and 30 zone - Nottingham has a realproblem with speeders). Shared use usually means cars park on it or if it's shared use for peoplewalking then it's whoever has the biggest vehicle. Not fair for anyone. No-one wants to be bullied forexisting because they are not the biggest vehicle.

High Road, Chilwell. Chilwell to Long Eaton road, especially between the Blue Bell and Manor Farm.

Main roads leading out of city are 'main roads' used a lot by high volume traffic / buses / lorries. Thecycle paths are not well laid out / shown and there is nothing to stop a vehicle driving on some ot thecycle lanes. I think the lanes should all be tarmaced / painted a distinctive colour such as orange andthere should be a 'kerb' to seperate the cycle lane from the road.

Around Victoria Centre. North to South of city

Lenton Boulevard, Gregory boulevard, Mansfield Road,

Without being specific, as the list could be long, a connected network is required adding to tracksalready in situ such as the canal paths. As much use as possible of existing old rail ways shoud beused; around the outside of the city limits would be useful to look at as this is where cycling can beenjoyable for leisure and which would impact health improvements. Bridle ways should not beoverlooked

More secure cycle lock ups around town. The road surface on Hucknall Road between Haydn Roadand Mansfield Road is in extremely poor condition on both sides of the road. There are also many potholes in Mansfield Road through Sherwood and Carrington. Lots of pot holes on side roads inSherwood.

The whole unitary area

There are various areas but Mansfield Road could be improved / Goosefair Island, BBC Island, and adirect, clear route through the city centre

Gedling. carlton no segregated cycle lanes in the east of nottingham its a disgrace.

Routes into the town centre from urban areas such as Chilwell & Beeston, etc...

Sneinton

On main roads

Carlton, Mapperley have just white lines painted on the road, this does not feel safe enough for myfamily to cycle on. We pay taxes so why dont we get more street space. Segregated cycle paths arebadly needed all over and if built will be used more.

The Big track - cycling provision along the canal could be improved by: - cutting back shrubbery thatobstructs the path most of the year, but gets really bad at this time of year. I've literally never seen thisdone in 3 years and in parts it takes up 2/3s of the path, making it very dangerous to cycle down there- signage or awareness campaign asking pedestrians and cyclists to be considerate of each other. Atthe moment, many pedestrians and boat owners are hostile and aggressive toward cyclists. Just beingaware that the canal path is a designated cycle path would help pedestrians to understand OutsideHighfields Park / University Boulevard cycle path - the cycle path should be marked by more thansignage - having people get off the tram directly into the path of dozens of cyclists in rush hour is verydangerous

main roads into city centre, roundabouts, bus stops, around city centre (separate from pedestrians),choose less steep hills for cycle lanes

University Boulevard since the tram has been installed

I feel there could be a small designated cycle lane on most roads. Maybe one or two feet, just toclearly define the area.

Roads to city to encourage commuters

The boulevards aren't very cycle friendly

Overall the city council is taking steps in the right direction and working hard to provide more provisionfor people who choose to ride their bike. Personally, I am a confident rider and feel comfortable ridingin traffic but for many people more cycling provision is essential. It needs to be segregated from traffic, clearly signposted/people need to be aware it exists through promotion, events, info and guidance, itneeds to be joined up and continuous. More could be done to slow down cars and to discouragepeople from driving because despite an award winning bus network, a new tram, new cycling provisionetc, people still choose to drive simply because it is convenient and affordable.

a whole network that is clear should be built especially though city centre. I think you also need tomake it mandatory for cyclists to use cycle paths if they are provided. Dale side road / Cowick is aprime example of where a minority of cyclists dont use the cycle path and area a danger to drivers.

Ring road has cycle routes, however these could be more clearly defined to help keep pedestriansaware (red tarmac?). In addition, priority over side roads would be perfect. Having to stop at each sideroad takes away the benefit gained over walking. With side roads, residents pulling out of driveswithout looking and school children randomly jumping into the cycle path it can be safer to avoid thecycle path and take a chance cycling on the main carriageway, something I often do (much to theirritation of the motorised road users). As much as my children love cycling, I will not let them cyclearound the city roads. COME ON NOTTINGHAM, GET US ALL ON OUR BIKES & FEELING SAFE!!

From city running north west towards Stapleford and Ilkeston. North of city to Basford and Bulwell

Mansfield road, Victoria centre to Arnold would create a perfect corridor north.

All main roads where bikes are expected to be on the road alongside motor vehicles - just feels sounsafe, and although I prefer to cycle within the city than drive it is impossible to do so safely for somedestinations e.g. on the road that runs past castle marina retail areas. Also where bikes join pedestrianpaths and we all have to wait for multiple traffic lights to change separately to cross main roads - evenwhen crossing button is pressed we don't get priority to cross and can end up waiting for severalminutes while lorries whiz past, and it's horrible, noisy and smelly for pedestrians and cyclists to waitin the middle of multiple lanes of traffic to get across.

Not sure I could narrow it down much but the routes into the city seem to be quite poor and disjointedat points - not conducive to a simple straightforward stress free ride

City centre just felt unsafe. Other road users gave no space and cycle paths badly done and notmaintained. Other roads just need road surfaces improved as a lot are quite unsafe. You have to cycleinto the middle of the road to avoid potholes, this puts you in the the path of cars.

More cycle paths along main roads.

A52 cycle route to Radcliffe on Trent. Why not simply make green lane Tarmac and encouragecyclists away from 70mph road!!!

Routes into the city centre from all suburbs.

Ilkeston Road is really poor in terms of cycling space due to concerns over being doored/hit byparked/parking cars. Please make the bus/cycle lane complete without parking in these areas. DerbyRoad (entire length) should have a cycle lane. There is not enough installed parking in enoughlocations in the city centre to make me feel safe parking my bicycle.

I think changing the language from "cyclists" to "people on bikes" would help. People in cars (notdrivers). People walking (not pedestrians). This means people recognise that it's a person doing athing rather than some Top Gear view of "we must be at war with people who don't do the exact thingswe do". Over a number of years, there have been many different organisations and partners working topromote cycling and other forms of sustainable travel on a range of different projects. Even as asomeone who is aware of all of the different organisations and schemes, knowing where to find theright information can be confusing. There are going to be a safer way to cycle in Nottingham.

If it was on my route then yes.

I live in Basford and I don't think the new cycle corridors will serve me very well.

I already regularly use the parts of the Western & Southern Corridors where the proposed changes areminimal. I would be keen to see the Tram's anti-cycling barriers removed from the cycle trackalongside Becket School. I would very much welcome the proposed new bridge over the Trent fromThe Hook east of Lady Bay Bridge. I would very much welcome the abandoned proposal for afoot/cycle crossing at Beeston Weir. I would welcome the installation of street lighting on the pathalongside the Trent between Rivermead and Coronation Ave. It would be great to get some cross-cityroutes; I currently use Broadmarsh, Lister Gate, Exchange Walk and King St for my regularSouth/North journeys. East/West is a bit easier with Hockley and Low/Middle/High Pavement alreadyquite good for cycling.

my kids

Only limited as corridor routes do not fit with my direction of journeys. I certainly think there should bea route to and over Trent Bridge, including past the Train Station.

Not at this time

My commute route is good. However, I do visits around the city on routes which are less cycle-friendly.

It looks a very good idea which should be well supported by cyclists.

I will use the new corridors but wouldn't change my route to do so.

I cycle down to Castle Boulevard already but can't see where I can join the new cycle corridor (I join itfrom the cut down from the park) as there is a raised concrete slab blocking the way. Cycling downCastle Boulevard at the moment is very hazardous as the road is a lot narrower as the Cycle Corridoris not yet open, yet cars are impatient during construction work, and can't overtake cyclists easily, leading to near misses as they try to pass cyclists in a narrow gap. Perhaps it might have been betterto construct each section and open it before moving on to another so that it doesn't take so long.

Good idea and will encourage more people to cycle because they will feel safer.

Sounds a good idea as a lot of university of Nottingham students cycle

I may use it, depending how safe I feel.

Good to have a cycle track that is off road, but a bit concerned it is bi-directional. Still, i think it will be agreat improvement and will probably alter my route to use it.

No

I avoid roads because as an astme suffereer the petrol and diesal fumes affect me

I would love one from the Gedling/Carlton/Mapperley side to the city.

I think they are a great idea, and even if they take you a bit out of the way I think this is alright becauseit is even more exercise

Out to Gedling.....??

But only part of it. I'd have to go out of my way to use the bit from Abbey Bridge to the University, asit's the wrong end of the Uni site for me.

More please!

It woudl be great if we could open the old railway tunnel from Goose Fair/Mansfield Road island andVictoria Station to allow me to get into town without a bus on my tail. Either that or put a dedicatedcycle route through the Forest and Rock Cemetary to link to North Sherwood Street. The MansfieldRoad route and alterations to Mansfield Road/Forest Road junction whilst welcome are not adequate.

We need a cycle corridor to the North of the city.

See before need one from tram depot to city centre

Looking forward to using them

I would not want to antagonise drivers with the construction and operation of cycle highways. We needto keep everyone happy.

Maybe

Very good thing to encourage cycling

When will you have a survey for motorists to give their view on this personal agenda from this CityCouncil.

Not near me

the new cycle route on castle boulevard is a terrible idea, it has made the road so narrow that if twotrucks meet each other coming opposite ways, they virtually have to stop and creep past each otherwhich annoys other road users, by all means have a cycle track, but not so wide, this road has nowbeen ruined

I think it's a great idea. I have cycle at the side of them but wasn't quite sure what it was.

It's all good,

provided using the route didn't take me a long way from my proposed (as direct as possible) route

Don't really travel on that side of the city

Waste of money

Waste of public money as most cyclists will probably not use it

They appear to be causing more traffic delays than I'd expected so not sure how popular they will bewith motorists

It's definitely a step in the right direction, but construction is taking ages (signs on site say it will be complete in January and it's now May) and really needs to be on both sides of the road.

Have not heard of them. Cycle paths need to connect various places and not stop mid road as somedo now.

I live near by its amazing x

They found like a fantastic idea and I can't wait to use the one along Castle Boulevard

Might encourage me to take up cycling after a gap of many years.

I use the route from ruddington to the city along the tram track. It's brilliant.

Its a great initiative but there are no plans to improve the route I take from Giltbrook direction

Please make them good. If they're like Haydn Rd don't bother. I'm considering opening a new shopalong one if it's good

A cycle corridor from city center out to Arnold/Bulwell area would be of benefit to many

Anything at all is a great start and I will definitely work out routes which include them as I travelaround. But I would like to see more going forward because I feel so much safer using them.

it depends on how good it is all routes must avoid stupid barriers which block the way for trailers andcargo bikes as when you have these as a regular site in the city you know you are winning

Please work with broxtowe council to link to Beeston town centre. So nearly there, for want of half amile

Shame they are all giving up as they reach the city - mixing pedestrians and cyclists at what is likely tobe the busiest part of the routes (and not fixing the bits near the train station on the southern one) is amissed opportunity and will inevitably cause pedestrian/cyclists conflict.

I fully support these and can't wait for the to open. I am a firm believer in "build it and they will come"as London is currently experiencing. I would add that I hope to see good maintenance of these cyclelanes, as I have already noticed that the western corridor along castle boulevard will need anoccasional road sweeper to go along it due to debris from the trees above. This may become slipperywhen wet.

Important that these are built to high-quality and maintained. I do not understand the insistence thatthese be bi-directional routes. Often better to have segregated paths on each side of the road. Worriedthat they aren't as wide as would be ideal and the tendency to include "shared" paths which encourageconflict with pedestrians.

Are you going to lamp posts and sign posts? or will these nice routes be an obstacle course like someof the existing routes?

However, I used to use Hayden Road before the "improvements" but now this is really difficult anddangerous. There are door lanes and some very bad parking and changes in what to do and where togo in a short space of time. I avoid this "improved" area now as it's too hostile for people on bikes.

people do not tolerate bad desgns if the instillation fails to provide appropriate benefits (as in all things)then it will be ignored. EG. a cycle lane that requires active (as opposed to casual) cyclists toconstantly stop at junctions every 50 mtrs will not be used. this will happen when casual and nonecycling

If i had a bike that worked and i felt confident and that it wouldn't get stolen (my bike has quick releasewheels and saddle which means locking it up and leaving it is a nightmare)

Great things! I only fear there will be a lot of unpleasant and unhealthy air pollution around themthough the heavy traffic... Still great to have them soon.

Good idea. Need more especially North to South

await information and maybe see what's put on the ground

Sounds like a great idea!

Possibly, I prefer to cycle away from main roads to avoid traffic fumes.

please make them less hilly than current cycle lanes (e.g. Woodborough Rd)

Hope its worth it

Great idea and one which will benefit cyclist hugely. It will also hopefully have a positive impact ontraffic levels.

More please

Overkill really since the financial outlay annoys motorists and I feel they have a point. Travelling to andfrom the highways defeats the object.

The cycle corridors are a good idea, very glad they're happening. However small cycle paths and widerRoad crossings that can fit bikes is desperately needed. For example getting across the riverside retailpark Road on a bike is a nightmare. The railings are too close for bikes. Even pedestrians struggle. Also the north of the meadows where I live by the river is really isolated....the tram stop is miles awayand there's no proper cycle paths. Dangerous and inconvenient.

Yes they should go to Mapperley

They need to be separate from cars (with physical features not just paint) and definitely not in the DoorZone

The big arterial roads into the city are in need of good cycle tracks as it is harder to find alternativequieter routes to avoid these routes

Can't wait! I'd cycle more with better routes.

I will always take the quickest, most convenient route possible unless I consider it particularlydangerous

Ideal for me, cycling to/from beeston/city centre for a night out in Nottingham

If I can get from colwick safetly to QMC I would consider using new route

If the north corridor goes up hucknall road to bulwell I doubt many people will use it. Mansfield road toArnold is a more sensible route. Bulwell has the river lean

not being a native of the city the description of the route does not mean much to me so I don't know ifit would be useful to me or not

No need personally

I'd use them if they were on my way to work or another destination.

I don't cycle into Nottingham.

Many cycle paths have Lay-bys they pass. It is a constant issue where lorries park up in the kerbblocking cyclists path forcing them into the oncoming traffic! It needs dealing with.

The proposed cycle corridor sounds like an excellent idea, thank you.

Where are the other 3 proposed corridors?

Please find funding to complete the rest of the cycle corridor along Woodside Road. It's really poor interms of current cycling conditions.

What one thing would make the most difference to you when cycling in Nottingham?

A clear well lit dedicated cycle path

More awareness from road drivers, especially in Forest Fields!! Cars pull out without looking, speed upto junctions and assume they have priority when I'm cycling on the road.

Cycle facilities on the road and not on the pavement and better provision for us at junctions.

More cycle paths not on roads

Educating motorist's and pedestrians that cyclists are not the enemy and removing the ignorance /educating people on 'shared use' routes.....they are not just for you and your dogs which tend to be noton leads!!

The weather.

More off road places I've Wollaton park designated route etc

Dedicated cycle routes not near cars

Safety addressed more

Fewer cars on the road.

Motorists having more regard for cyclists

sunny warm weather

A genuine web of cycle lanes that could get you from point A to points B through Z without having tosegue into pedestrian or motorised areas.

more cycle lanes

Lighting,

knowing I was safe from powered vehicles

Separate cycle path- not on the road- not mixed up with cars and buses

More stylish bikes

Safety foRom other traffic , tram lines safety

less pollution from motor veichels

More cycle lanes

Drivers being more aware and mindful of cyclists.

Better cycle routes. The current paths down Woodside Road are hopeless, shared with pedestriansand with bikes giving way to cats on every road.

Healthier and easier.

More of new corridors so kids safe

Other forms of transport keeping a safe distance from me

More off road cycling away from roads

Flattish safe paths

Too many cars in City centre

Better behaviour of other road users

weather

Safer routes to work

Better road surfaces

Safe, segregated cycle paths

What one thing would make the most difference to you when cycling in Nottingham?

On road cycle only space

To see more cyclists on the road - ultimately that's what makes other road users accept cyclists as anecessary part of the street scene. Clear signage on the roads and pavements validating a cyclist'srights to be on the road.

many more cycle paths across city and not just to the city centre

Enforcement of the highway code.

More direct and traffic free routes.

I personally think that this is having a good road surface. People in this country like to cycle on roadand hybrid bikes with tyre pressures in excess of 100psi, this means that they feel every bump andpoorly repaired pot holes, of which there are many in this city. The city link road (where Gem 106 andthe NHS walk in centre are located) should be a pleasant experience to cycle on due to it being quiet, away from traffic and lined with trees, however I'd argue this isn't the case due to the badly repairedcycle lane (I assume due to tree roots causing the initial damage), cyclists having to bump their wayover the lowered kerbs and give way to cars coming out of the car parks, as well as having to mergeinto the pedestrian lane when passing other cyclists due to the cycle lane not being wide enough tocomfortably fit bikes passing in opposite directions.

A network of good quality, well-maintained, segregated cycling infrastructure.

safe routes through and in the city centre

being able to ride safely and responsibly on a public pathway

More cycle paths outside of the City Centre leading into the City

Dedicated continuous space for cycling. Not shared use or where it's easy for cars to park or wherethere is possible for a door to open in your path.

Secure places to leave a bicycle.

safety

Road surfaces, parked vehicles, Narrower road marking widths Doing stupid applying vehicle size &speed restrictions and not narrowing the vehicle lanes and widen/create cycle '/safety zones Developethe road side line markings (the line are easer to ride on in terms of effort and smoothens out ride. whythere has been no development in this aspect of transport management amazes me.

Well laid out cycle route which is DEF safe

Cycle lanes along less polluted roads.

Feeling safe. Designated cycle paths, safe places to leave bike

Routes which are safe and separate cars and bikes on the roads.

separation from traffic as best can be achieved probably number one; pleasantness of the routeimportant too - sometimes small diversions are worthwhile if part of a park or similar can be utilised -shortest route is not necessarily critical

Awareness! I'd just like bus and car drivers to be aware of how vulnerable cyclists are. We're not "inthe way" and we are human beings... It would be nice if so many people weren't out to run us down!

Smoother road services

Make it like Copenhagen - traffic free!!!! Everyone cycles there.

More pavement based routes. I want to cycle because it's healthier but I'd also rather not die becausesomeone wasn't using their mirrors properly

Clear signage and a clear, segregated cycle route through the city centre

A cycle hub in the middle of the city centre

when on road, the worst dangers that are off-putting are :- poor road condition (eg potholes, ridges andsunken /uneven manhole and drainage gulleys at the side of the road where we all cycle).improvements to these things would make cycling safer, smoother and more frequent.

What one thing would make the most difference to you when cycling in Nottingham?

Feeling safe segregated from those toxic cars and obnoxious drivers.

More cycle paths from lady bay to the train station. The canal path is great!

Separate cycle specific lanes with preferential signalling is the one main thing which would in myopinion encourage more cyclists out of their cars & onto cycles

n/a

Safer cycling on roads

Segregated paths as cannot trust some drivers to stick to the rules of the road.

Improve road surfaces

Marking the cycle paths as such, not just by signage next to the path. Follow the dutch standard ofhaving them a different colour. It makes a huge difference in terms of safety and reducing hostilityfrom other road users. At the moment many pedestrians shout or are hostile/intentionally in the way ofcyclists when on a designated cycle path, but because the signage isn't remotely obvious.

Awareness of other road users including pedestrials and sometimes other cyclists.

More linked up traffic free cycle ways,

make it safer near tram

More designated cycle lanes.

More showers at work

Dedicated cycle lanes

Drivers treating me like another car and wider roads. I often need to take a more central position in thelane to discourage drivers from passing too closely.

Upgrading current cycle paths.

More designated cycle paths separated from the road

Grit the cycle paths near trent uni , clifton

Well thought out cycle lanes right into the city centre.

More cyclists on roads

Dedicated cycle lanes or signposted alternative quiet roots

I think separate spaces are important, it's hard to dodge pedestrians and cycling on busy roads is anightmare.

More training offered to drivers (and pedestrians) to help them to understand the needs andbehaviours of cyclists. Taxi drivers, delivery drivers, bus drivers etc could undertake mandatorytraining including some on road riding as part of their employment. Ideally this would be compulsory foranyone taking a test but if measures are taken to encourage more people to cycle, then more peoplewill naturally understand the challenges of cycling on the road and how intimidating vehicles can be attimes.

Better road surfaces and cleaner gutters. As a cyclist we have to ride through all the debris thrown tothe sides of the roads by other traffic and through puddles caused by blocked drains when it rains

Designated cycle paths on all main routes. Making it law thay cyclists must use these and not the road. For cyclist safety and motorist annoyance

Feeling as ENTITLED to use the roads and more importantly as SAFE as when I'm in my car orwalking.

More space on the roads for cyclists

Clear cycle paths on all my routes

Traffic calming and a safe route to access the station form lace market

Reducing the number of cars.

What one thing would make the most difference to you when cycling in Nottingham?

Cycle routes separate to and, where possible away from, roads all over the city, for safety andavoidance of traffic fumes. Although I stated in a previous question that I encourage my young childrento cycle, this is only for leisure on paths and at the park etc - we can't use bikes as transport to mostplaces as it's just not safe. Priority crossings of main roads. Better road traffic calming / speed checksso cars don't continue to dominate shared spaces and become continually less aware of bikes andpedestrians (e.g. Victoria embankment road)

better designed and maintained routes - the routes seem too convoluted to be easy to use for anirregular user of them. don't think I have once managed to get into Nottingham without gettingconfused, being taken on a long route to the destination that could be more direct. It seems that cycleroutes are second class to all other traffic and are designed to avoid them rather than enabling the twoforms to co-exist healthily

Improved road conditions

Driver awareness and understanding of the high way code in relation to cyclist.

Better road and cycle path maintenance

Knowing the routes available

Safe, well-lit routes away from cars and traffic.

Awareness and respect from other road users - including bus and taxi drivers.

More cycle parking, more dedicated on road cycle lanes. WAY more education of car drivers aboutsafe space. Enforcement of road safety laws, speed limits and red lights. Stop ticketing cyclist onLondon Road using the WIDE pavements where the road is entirely insane and not likely to encourageless confident cyclists. Cyclists and pedestrians can and do happily coexist.

Any other comments/suggestions you would like to make about cycling in Nottingham?

No

No

Nottingham appears to be a very car-centred city, which is limiting the quality of the generalenvironment for inhabitants and therefore the attractiveness of the city.

I understand the need for motorists to have somewhere to park but it is very disconcerting and evendangerous for a cyclist that has to cycle in a cycle lane that is to the right of many parked cars. At anymoment a motorist who is parked to the left of the cycle lane may open a car door with catastrophicconsequences.

Often cycle lanes are adjacent to main roads where cyclists are very vulnerable to pollutants, especially fumes from lorries and buses.

No.

I'm all for these cycle improvements but the most effective thing to do to improve cycling in Nottinghamis to improve the current road surfaces. I get thoroughly sick of the amount of punctures I get due topot holes and road debris. There seems to be a random approach to resurfacing with generally roadsthat barely need it being resurfaced time and time again while others are just left to fall apart or justpatched, which lasts a few months at best.

N/A

Excellent cycling facilities, many support groups such as Cycle Sneinton and the Council is working tomake it even better. We are lucky here in Nottingham.

More promotion of cycling

Better weather would help but I can't expect the City Council to control that!

Nottingham is a great city for cycling- not incredibly wet weather and not incredibly hilly!

Any other comments/suggestions you would like to make about cycling in Nottingham?

Am not sure if they are already available but I could like free cycle training and bike maintenancecourses. Also maybe lessons in schools for children but to include the parents so that they areconfident enough to lead by example too.

Smooth surfaces. I hate punctures. Cheap places on the routes where we can get puncture repairs

Cycle path to Gedling (have I mentioned this before?).

Clean the road edges more often, please. I've had so many punctures from glass and other stuff andit's expensive.

No

More cycle paths and proper routes please.

A north south cross centre route (Clumber Street to Carrington Street) is the golden ticket for me.

I live in Bestwood Park and it is a nightmare to get anywhere on a bike. Cycling through Sherwood inthe bus lanes is a nightmare and trying to cycle over Redhill is death defying. I have to put my bike inthe car and get out of the city boundary before I dare cycle.

Speed limits for cyclists of 5 mph on pavements & pedestrianised areas. You should be consultingpedestrians about how safe they feel as you encourage cycling in pedestrianised areas.

Roads are far to dangerous to cycle on

Keep up the good work

I used to join in the Rural Rides many years ago. They were superb

Yet again a totally one sided view, ask the right question and you will get the answer you want.

I think that many cyclists behave dangerously, sometimes not by choice but by lack of good lanes etc. Many cyclists ride on pavements and go through red lights but I have never heard of a prosecution forthis. People need to be trained with some sort of campaign to behave responsibly-they aren't ofteninsured. In short I'd like to see more and join in more but there are just too many irresponsible onesspoiling it for other road users, education and insurance is needed and perhaps this is best reachedwith police enforcement and fines unfortunately.

I don't think cycling should be prioritised over public transport as public transport is used by morepeople and is more likely to get more cars off the roads.

great having the new cycle routes, but will they use them? because they don't use the one's alreadythere. I'm not anti cycle, it's a good thing, it's just an observation.

It's pretty good on the whole.

I have only been cycling for one month since signing up to the cycle plus scheme through NottinghamCity council. I have tried to get some freebies such as hi vis bag, lights etc but no one seems to begiving them away at the moment. I would like more info on bike maintenance also.

Not really,

pending safe routes for all cyclists, perhaps the council could erect some signage in areas wherecyclists have to share busy roads, drawing the attention of vehicle drivers to this fact and asking themto drive considerately

I live in Sherwood and there are few cycle routes on this side of town. All the cycling attention seemsto be where students are or on the south side. (Like the trams)

More stylish bikes and I'd use them instead of paying for a taxi

Fine cyclists that don't use the cycle lanes

Let's get a few police on bikes so they can see what cyclists are up against and maybe even prosecutea few of the motorists who intimidate cyclists on a daily basis. A personal bugbear is those motoristswho ignore advance stop lines at traffic lights.

Cycling paths need to be wider and where possible away from the road. Again look at Holland anddraw inspiration from there. More economical friendly, more people fit and healthy -save the NHS andsave people money so they can spend more shopping and boosting our economy. Win-win

More public awareness about cycle lanes is needed, they often just wander around on pavementsclearly marked with cycle signage and then look most afronted when you ring your cycle bell.

Boxes for cyclists at traffic lights/road junctions not useful as evident by their lack of use.

Stop building lanes in between parked cars & moving traffic. Listen to people who cycle the streets.Respond to our concerns ( often ignored on Twitter)

North Nottingham/ring road is difficult to ride on cycle paths due to car traffic and many junctions. Onroad cycle space would be very beneficial.

I'm very positive about cycling in Nottingham. I'm 52-years-old and if anything, am cycling more andmore. My partner and I would like to give up our car altogether for environmental and financial reasonsbut at the moment I don't feel this is feasible although you are definitely getting there.

Mapping - give out all the data Cycle path provision - keep building routes for people of all ages -really wide proper cycle paths please Encourage market in electric bikes for those in the hillier parts oftown City council to make use of cargo bikes - fully branded to show commitment please sendcouncillors and others to Netherlands and Denmark if they haven't been already cycle bridges andspecial green lights to keep people moving.

It's bloody dangerous on those roads.

Really like all the work into cycling in Nottingham

Riverside routes have a surface that disintegrates when wet and they get overgrown rather frequently. Would be nice if you could persuade the borough/county councils to follow your lead as the widerNottingham's area network is pretty poor and in a poor condition.

I think secure cycle parking in the city centre is an issue, and prevents people from considering this anoption, I know many cyclists that are put off cycling into the city due to their bikes security. I looked upon the internet about secure cycle compounds in Nottingham to find out about the cycle hubs such asin Fletcher Gate carpark, and then when I told my friends and colleagues about it none of them hadheard of them. Perhaps this is because they're tucked away inside car parks out of site, notconveniently located in the streets so people can hop off their bikes and into the restaurants andshops. My other issue with the use of these compounds was the awkwardness to get signed up to usethem. Going into the travel centre when it's open and having to fill out forms is very awkward for somepeople, and I think that perhaps an app on smartphones should be able to get you access to thecompound using NFC, I'm no expert but since the gates currently take contactless card entry Iunderstand that it wouldn't require an investment in new hardware at the compounds to make thesmartphone entry a reality.

There's also a need to discourage cars in the city. Spending millions on the A453 and the ring road, runs contrary to this objection. This is particularly troubling given how much more has been spent onthese schemes than the total budget for cycling in Nottingham.

take it seriously, not treat it as an afterthought like you do now

More cycle awareness campaigns needed to foster better relationships between cyclists and otherroad users. Wider roads/cycle paths to enable safe cycling and less tension as cyclists will not slowdown other road users - this is often the cause of accidents as cars pass very close by either in angeror not wanting to be delayed behind a cyclist.

Look at Copenhagen.

It is improving, but lots more needed to be done. For example, the Beeston to Nottingham canal pathis a great cycle route but the surface is extremely bumpy for riding between Boots bridge andNottingham.

make even more of it media wise it's fast becoming a city leader within the UK and this needs to beencouraged and .marketed more

out of time!

Do something to stop people cycling on pavements and leaving thier bikes lying on pavements. Supplyproper amount of 'Bike garage' so i can leave my bike in a safe place (trying to get a bike in and out ofmy flat and my block of flats is really hard) and discourages bike use.

Some roads are in a very bad condition with huge holes inside them. This is particularly bad whencycling. How about priorising to fix these at the sides where people cycle? I cannot understand why sofew people cycle in Nottingham where the infrastructure is so good.

I like cycling in Nottingham overall

Pleased that you're asking these questions. Could future trams have a cycle "car" attached - this mighthave a number of narrow compartments into which the cycle with rider could go [at right angles to therails]. This would not need to be a big car necessarily

It's too dangerous to cycle on the roads.

some of the signage and routes are very hard to follow, and do not seem logical. eg the cycle routesfollowing and near to the tram routes. although the flat, straight sections out to Toton and Clifton aregreat for riding and avoiding traffic !

If you build a good cycling infrastruture then it will be used a lot and will increase property prices andlocal business trade.

Educate drivers about giving cyclist more room and dont pass you on blind bends!

Aggressive & strong policing of car, van & large vehicle drivers who speed is also required, ifnecessary then fines should be doubled or even quadrupled, especially for persistent offenders & allavailable technology (cameras, etc..) should be used to regulate speeds.

n/a

Improve road surfaces can't say that enough

All the senior stakeholders/cllrs need to get out on the route on a bike on a regular basis. It's the onlyway to truly understand the challenges cyclists face and the changes that are needed to the routes

The traffic and lack of respect I see make cycling more stressful than it should be.

cycle precedence at junctions and safe crossings at traffic lights and roundabouts are key to safecycling. Many current cycle lanes disappear when you need them most. You seem to be expected toeither become a pedestrian or risk cycling in amongst the traffic, which is dangerous at many junctionse.g. goose fair roundabout, Broadmash circular one way system.

Not enough cyclists, too much congestion on roads

Generally a good experience. More people should commute. It's easy fitness.

Keep going as you are. It gets better every month.

We all know cycling is going to increase because it is sustainable, personally I would like to see thislifestyle change promoted much more as such and happen more rapidly. I understand it's difficult butreally, what are we waiting for? There are no negatives to getting people on bikes afterall! Thanks

Provisions should be made for everyday or novice cyclists. Not everyone is a middle aged manwearing Lycra with an expensive city bike. Those kind of cyclists can be kind of intimidating when theywant to get past you.

It's ok still needs more work but I know your working hard so well done.

Very pleased nottingham is working to improve things! I own a car but really dislike the accepteddominance of cars in our cities, and find it crazy that routes for pedestrians and bikes are usually justslivers at the edge of roads rather than clean, safe separate routes, and the fact that we have to riskour safety and also our health while we breath fumes from cars & lorries on most foot / bike journeys isridiculously backward.

It has improved over the years but please do not simply label and existing path a cycle path as whencommuting it is done at high speed to ensure a quick journey to work. Shared cycle paths create moredanger for pedestrians and cyclists.

Adequate and safe cycle parking is also a major consideration. One of the huge advantages of cyclingover driving is being able to park your bike right outside the door of your destination, e.g. outside M&Sfor shopping. It is off-putting to cycle if you are not sure there will be a convenient place to lock yourbike when you arrive.
