In recent years, the complex, volatile and changing environment in
which businesses operate has greatly intensified. A new era of
continuous innovation has emerged in which knowledge is the key
ingredient, and whose habitude determines success for many
organisation. In this context, it is generally accepted that effective
knowledge management and innovation depends heavily on a
company’s ability to collaborate, both inside (Collective
Entrepreneurship) and outside (Collaborative Entrepreneurship)
the organization.
Collaboration enables a firm to be entrepreneurial and
continuously innovative by exploring new markets. Continuous
innovation and market exploration are the building blocks of
collaboration. Therefore, its essential for any entrepreneur to
develop the concept of Collaborative Entrepreneurship, linking the
most relevant issues with the concept of Collective
Entrepreneurship, from a preliminary integrative approach.
As the world grows more complex and interconnected, the
global business landscape is also becoming increasingly
competitive. This has presented a series of challenges and
opportunities that require entrepreneurs, from around the world,
to look beyond their borders for new markets, technology, know-
how, talent, financing and investors, and supply chain sourcing.
Anticipating the future environment of business, Collaborative
Entrepreneurship discusses a revolutionary new competitive
strategy of continuous innovation that fulfills the need for efficient
provision of a constant stream of new products, services, and
markets. It should be a growth strategy for any organisation to
take part in the collaborative entrepreneurship model for wealth
creation, which is the core vision of Marketnext.
Why winningcompanies havea solid strategy ? S H A R O N S
C E O - M A R K E T N E X T
Do you know some companies are very
successful than others because their
strategy is tightly tied to their vision.
A strategy is a long-term plan that you create for your
company to reach the desired, future state you envision.
A strategy includes your company’s goals, values and
objectives, the business / businesses you want to enter,
the type of products/services that you plan to build,
your target market, your channels, your partners and so
on. A strategy is substantial when all the assumptions
you make at the time of its creation have been
validated and approved for accuracy with clear facts
and evidence. It is important to ensure that your
strategy aligns with your company’s objectives, your
business offering, its channels and its environment.A
good strategy will help you make wise business
decisions of money and time, like how and where you
would like to spend . It also helps to provide guidance
on project prioritization and other activities within your
organization. Allocate and optimize resources, set
functions, best practices, which make profits that
generate substantial returns.
1. Clarity – Prepare a strategic plan that is having
clarity, long-term and realistic. What type of
products/services would you like to build? Who will be
your end customers? What markets would you like to
serve, and what activities would you like to carry on to
get to your desired future state?
2. Opportunity: Carefully analyze what opportunity
exists in the future and how it might evolve over time.
Gather more data and facts associated with it before
finalizing any decisions. Clearly diagnose the risks and
challenges anticipated in pursuing this opportunity and
come up with the mitigation plan to address them.
3. Innovation: Ensure that the products/services you
plan to build are future ready, unique, with clear value
proposition– and that they are aligned with your
business and at-least with a foresight of 5 years. Keep
an eye on possible disruptions happening in your line of
business.
4. Competition: Ensure that your strategy remains
competitive. Choose a market that is either not
served or undeserved with little or no competition,
and be the first one there. This way, you capture
the market share, build your brand and position
your company well in that marketplace, making it
harder for any new entrants. (Read the blue ocean
strategy)
5. Time to market: Carefully evaluate the options
of “build versus buy” for the products/services that
you plan to offer your customers. Sometimes, it
might be cheaper to buy part of the products or
solutions that are already available or outsource to
a third-party vendor to save some cost of
producing your goods/services and getting them
out in the market.
6. Digitalize and Automate processes –
Digitalize your business and Automate and Build
processes using digital technologies. A robust
digital strategy is critical any new businesses in
the current scenario.
7. Evaluate : Periodically review and update your
strategy to ensure that it’s valid at all times and
meets your company’s objectives and market
needs. Test it out in small phases. It’s better to fail
fast when it is less expensive and recover from
mistakes.
8. Risks and failures: Factor risks into your plan
and allow your organization to accept failures. Use
unique insights gained from successes and failures
to learn from your past experience and improve
your future.
9. Stakeholders: Once your plan is finalized,
share it with stakeholders both internal and
external. Listen to their feedback, Let them know
what you are doing, why you are doing it and how
it affects the company’s forecast in generating
revenues and impacting shareholders’ value.
FEATURING
THE INNOVATIONS WHICH ARECHANGING THE WORLDResearchers in China created a pair of monkeys with specific genetic mutations. The scientists used a
new method of DNA engineering known as CRISPR. CRISPR allows scientists to modify fertilized eggs.
This innovation has great implications for the field of biomedicine. The ability to alter DNA at specific
locations on chromosomes makes it easier to study diseases. Researchers at MIT have expressed interest
in studying brain disorders like autism and Alzheimer’s disease. CRISPR has the potential to aid
researchers studying such ailments, allowing them to identify what genetic mutations actually cause the
disorders.

Cyclists using bike lanes may soon be joined by tricycles capable ofspeeds of up to 40 kilometres per hour. Manufacturer Wello hasdesigned a three-wheeler fitted with a lightweight cover containing asolar panel, which protects the rider from the weather while chargingthe vehicle. The result is somewhere between a bicycle and a single-seater electric car.No driving licence is required to ride the trike, as itrelies on a mix of pedal-power and solar energy. The battery has arange of 100km, and Wi-Fi connectivity allows the vehicle’s locationto be tracked.

3D Printing in the construction industry means greatly reducedproduction time. That’s because the machines themselves are veryfast, some of them are capable of manufacturing 600 to 800-square-foot (55 to 75-square-meter) home in just 24 hours. Reduction incosts and waste, faster construction speed, reduction of accidents, complex architectural shapes, and more.
Sounds amazing, doesn’t it? 3D concrete printing tech is developing . rapidly and relies ondifferent technologies and materials, offering many benefits to itsusers. The tech is still in its infancy however the future may bepromising.
Bio-Plastics
Scientists from the Centre of Sustainable ChemicalTechnologies (CSCT) at the University of Bath managed to make abiodegradable form of plastic. It is also made sugar and carbondioxide and not oil.It is made by combining a sugar called thymidinewith CO2 at low pressures and at room temperature. A Michoacánbased company, Biofase, are converting 15,000 tonnes of avocadoseeds into bioplastics every day. Though in emerging stage theseinnovations are going to save our planet.

Reinvent your Routine
We will soon forget what 9-5 job is, just like VHS tapesuccessor wiped out the whole product line. Nobody makesVCRs anymore. You can read more about it by visiting theMuseum of Obsolete Media, or you can just lay back andwatch another series on Netflix... Likewise, you can either embrace new technology and learnhow to make it your most reliable helper or complain aboutit being a vicious job snatcher. Reinvent your routine bylearning one new thing a day, regardless of how small orinsignificant it may appear. By cultivating new healthierhabits, you increase your chances of succeeding.
Simple is Not Easy
I said it is simple, it is by no means easy. To create newworking habits, it requires a lot of repetition, discipline, andcontemplation. Oh, and don't forget inspiration. When youhave a clear WHY (and I don't mean for convincing others, but if your own WHY is crystal clear to you), you suddenlystart to appreciate the simplicity of things. Break yourlengthy plan and the vision to small actionable, attainabletasks, and check the box every time you fulfil one step. Before you know it, you have crossed the street.

Action versus Reaction
I like to use analogies, especially metaphors. In mylong consulting experience, I find it an excellent, non-invasive method of communication, especially withdemanding, resisting clients. When you look at titleaction versus reaction, you may first think of Newton'sthird law of motion. What association comes to my ead, making an effort of putting sunscreen beforeleaving the house versus using aloe aid lotion afterbeing all day in the sun. We all react to things andevents that waste our energy. Master the habit of beingproactive, and you will feel the power to make thingshappen instead of waiting for them to happen to you.
Expand Points of View
Regardless of religion, beliefs, upbringing, there areperspectives we never even dreamed of. They 're no etter or worse than ours, just different. Learning andaccepting to respect this difference is what makes usgrow. By widening our points of view, we can alsoobserve a plethora of opportunities where we used to seeonly the problem. Walk a mile in their shoes to find thesolution that is suitable for your client.
The current pandemic is affecting numerous businesses allover the world. Maybe your business has already beenaffected, or maybe not; one thing is for sure: eventually,COVID-19 will leave its mark in every business. While yousit there and wait, the effects of COVID-19 on your businesswill become more severe. Meaningful collaborations havebecome one of the most prominent ways to grow yourbusiness amidst the current pandemic. While other ompanies are struggling to survive, your business canthrive, provided the right collaboration. Meaningful synergiescompany and Market Next platform definitely introduce youto a new world of opportunities through such collaborations.
Be a Star at any Age Is it too late to go back to school? Am I too old tostudy? All other students are half my age. Nonsense.Wiseman once said, when you stop learning, youstart dying. Let that sink in for a moment. I wish Ihave chosen a different profession. I wish myparents didn't make me become a... So what is topping you from reskilling now, and fulfiling yourpurpose, feel good with what you do for work? Thereare free resources, or you can save up and invest inyour upskilling. In fact, if you allow for a re-innovative approach, you can even barter. Now, Iwould like you to read out loud: "Out of 7 billionpeople in the world, there is someone in need ofprecisely what knowledge and service I can offer tothem." You can be a Business Star in your industryat any age.

About 46% ofthe population, representing an active andproductive workforce, is between 15 and 64 years ofage.
Languages:English is the official language in which all businessis conducted, other main languages are Bemba,Nyanja, Tonga and Lozi.
Though landlocked the county’s Road, Rail andTelecommunication facilities are reasonably welldeveloped for direct access to regional andinternational markets.

Telecommunication and IT Services.
CHEMBE DISTRICT: THE NEWECONOMIC FRONTIER OFNORTHERN ZAMBIA
Chembe District was created in 2012 when it was hived offfrom Mansa District, the Provincial Capital of LuapulaProvince in the Northern part of Zambia. The area has greatinvestment potential that still remains to be fully explored byboth local and foreign investors. Chembe District has greatinvestment opportunities in various economic sectors.
Investment Opportunities in Chembe
In 2006, Government promulgated the Multi-FacilityEconomic Zones (MFEZ) policy in Zambia as a way tostimulate industrial development. MFEZs are specificgeographic areas with the highest quality physical andsocial infrastructure and efficient Government licensingprocedures that will attract investment into themanufacturing sector.
Investors under the MFEZ are entitled tothe following incentives:
A corporate tax rate of zero percent for the first five yearsfrom the year that profits are first declared;For years 6 to 8,only 50 percent of profits will be taxed at the going taxrate;In years 9 and 10, 75 percent of profits will be taxed;
Exemption from tax on dividends for the first five years fromthe year when dividends are first declared;
Zero percent import duty on raw materials, capital goods,machinery including trucks and specialised motor vehiclesfor the first five years;
Deferment of VAT on machinery and equipment includingtrucks and specialised motor vehicles imported for use inthe MFEZ. All types of manufacturing as well as severalother activities can take place in an MFEZ and will accessthe above incentives.
These activities includeFloriculture, Horticulture, energyprojects, Education and skillstraining, Information andCommunication Technology,Health sector & its various supportservices as well as Tourism.
In recognition of its strategic location between theSouthern and Northern regions of Zambia, Chembe wasselected by the Government early on in 2006 to host anMFEZ to produce for both the Copperbelt Province whichis a predominantly mining area and for export to thenearby Haut Katanga Province in the Democratic Republicof Congo (DRC). To this effect, a piece of land, 900hectares in extent, was allocated and has been reservedfor this investment which can be undertaken by a privatedeveloper.
The development concept is for one or a consortium ofprivate investors to develop the area by building thenecessary infrastructure such as access roads and attractother investors to build factories for various manufacturingactivities and services activities such as hotels, warehouses, schools, etc. The MFEZ would then operateas a Smart City where the investor will own the land underagreement with the Government while those investing inthe area will have sub-agreements with theDeveloper.Apart from investing in the MFEZ, Investorscan also invest in various other business ventures in theDistrict such as Agriculture, Mining, Forestry, Fisheries,Livestock, Energy, Tourism, Transport, etc.
For the far-sighted investor looking for opportunities in Africa, Zambia is the place to be while ChembeDistrict offers the home for the future success of business. We are looking forward to welcoming you with
the warmest smile.MWAISENI
Expected Impact of the Chembe MFEZ (CMFEZ)
Apart from stimulating economic growth through foreign and
local investment, the CMFEZ will have the following impact
Encourage diversification and movement away from the
historical dependence of the Zambian economy on the mining
sector;
Promote indigenous SME development in the area;
Promote rapid development of infrastructure such as roads,
telecommunications, electricity and an airport
Enhance economic and trade links between the neighboring
countries of Zambia, DRC and the East African region.
Promote innovation and new technology-oriented business in
the area in particular and Zambia in general. Promote well-
coordinated urbanization of Chembeü Create strong
backward linkages that will bring business viability to many
business entities in the area. Fast track the promotion of rapid
industrial development for both domestic and export markets
from Chembe;
Promote a unique opportunity for employment creation in a
rural area where such opportunities had never existed;
Increase Zambia’s foreign exchange earnings;
Increase Government revenue,
Provide an opportunity for value addition to local natural
resources and agricultural produce;
Provide a ready market for local peasant farmers, thus raising
their incomes and improving their standard of living and
effectively fighting poverty;
Promote the rapid industrialization of a rural area;
Allow access to modern social services such as health,
education and water reticulation to a hitherto impoverished
rural community.
Strategic Importance of CMFEZ
The proposed CMFEZ is of national strategic importanceto Zambia for the following reasons:·
New technological direction: Current concerns with theenvironmental impact of oil propelled automobiles hasraised interest in electric motor vehicles. Chembe Districtsits on large manganese deposits which is a major inputin the production of batteries. It is expected thatmanganese mining activities in Chembe will growexponentially in the very near term, hence creatingincreased economic activities in the area.
Size of the investment: The expected investment in agreenfield infrastructure Project will draw a lot of attentionto the area. This attention presents a good potential totap inward investment in CMFEZ.·
Industrial clustering- The CMFEZ will bring up diversifiedindustries with manufacturing as a leading sector in anarea that that has been economically backward hitherto. ·
Strong backward linkages- Investors in the CMFEZ willbe encouraged to produce goods and services for bothlocal and export markets. They will also be encouraged topurchase materials from local suppliers, most of who arepeasant farmers.
Land use- The use of land in the CMFEZ willaccommodate all necessary concerns of development toensure that urbanization and residency is well planned.·
Transportation- The Zambian Government has alreadyrebuilt the Pedicle Road which links Copperbelt andLuapula Provinces through the DRC. This project willenhance exports to the DRC as well as Angola. TheCMFEZ stands at a strategic position to benefit from thefacility in their export activities.
Legal frame work- The ZDA Act provides that a statutoryinstrument shall support the development of an MFEZ.This legal requirement provides the developer of theCMFEZ with guarantees and protection of theinvestment.

Education is all set to change unrecognizably. With facemasks and social distancing becoming the norm, education will look very different in a post Covid future.
This change is not something new. It had started outabout a decade ago, when with MOOCs, the MassiveOpen Online Courses - programmes where a studentcould sit in his home and learn and get a degree from aUniversity or College many thousands of miles away -began.
MOOCs was a new form of Distance Education whichhad been around for quite some time, the differencebetween the two being that in the original form ofDistance Education the teaching institution had to sendreams of hard copy notes by post, or email etc. to thestudent.
MOOCs was Distance Education through online courses.MOOCs and Distance Education were however always, only an insignificant part of the huge canvass thateducation was. MOOCs was largely confined to highereducation, especially those that did not need to havelaboratories and experimentation. But even in suchlimited areas of university education MOOCs did notmake a dent. It had no real presence at all in schooleducation.
The coming of Byju’s made things different. Byju beganto change the landscape of digital education. Withmassive advertising, fairly impressive content, and astrategy of targeting rich kids - which in turn providedByju’s the money for expensive endorsements by starslike Shah Rukh Khan in double and triple roles in multi-cultural and multi- linguistic settings - and Mohanlal in avery Malayali setting - Byju’s became a household namein many middle and rich income households.
Byju’s spawned many such online courses for schoolchildren. Even though innovations and improvementsupon Byju’s became the cornerstone of many of thesenew entrants, none of them have been able to comeanywhere near the commercial success of Byju’s.

Really however, MOOCs and Byju’s and the newerentrants in online learnings have remained only fads sofar, an additional tool that a rich or a middle-class kidcould use to score more marks. They have never gotanywhere near to being mainstream teaching and learningtools. That will all change post Covid. Schools, Collegesand Universities will change shape and characteraltogether. Today at the height of Covid, we can seeglimpses of what that very different new education is likelyto be.
Firstly and primarily, Post Covid there will be aUberization of education. Like the way our shopping hasbeen changing in the last decade and half, so willeducation. Fifteen years ago if anyone had told us aboutonline shopping through Amazon, about Swiggy deliveringbreakfast, lunch and dinner to our homes and offices, wewould have hardly believed it. But today, shopping hasmoved online so much that many state governments arechanging their Excise or Abkari laws to allow for theAmazonization of the sale of liquor, when liquor can beordered online and delivered to our homes.
This Amazonization of shopping means that the brick andmortar shops and Malls that we are so used to wouldbecome rarer and rarer and perhaps even disappearaltogether in one or two decades. When you can haveyour necessities delivered at home, why bother to goshopping in crowded shops and Malls? You would go to aMall, perhaps only to socialize over a coffee or dinner. Inthat process if you shopped a little, that was it. But yourmain shopping would have gone online.e shopping, post-Covid education would be delivered largely to our homes.
The concept of a school or a college or a university thatwe have in our mind will alter unrecognizably. The hugecampuses, the impressive buildings with students in smartuniforms coming out of them that we see inadvertisements would all change.
Educational institutions will no longer be buildings of brickand mortar. The huge campuses and buildings will beginto be in disuse and will soon perhaps disappearaltogether.
T H E F U T U R E O F E D U C A T I O N P O S T - C O V I D
Most of the teaching will go digital and online. Many schoolshave already begun such online courses and others arelikely to do so in the next few days or weeks. Teachers areeven now sitting down and preparing online courses for theirstudents. Zoom – and its equivalents - is the newClassroom. Once that happens in larger and larger numberof schools, schools as we know it will disappear. So wouldcolleges and universities. Cambridge University for examplehas already decided that their 2020-21 academic yearwould be conducted completely online.
And if that succeeds, as it most likely would, then even postCovid – and indeed even after a successful vaccine is found against the Corona virus - digital courses will continue asthe key tool for delivery of education. Hologram 3D teacherswill be present in every student’s home to guide the studentalong and teach the online courses. Surgeries will beexplained to medical students online through holograms and3D images. So would the use of tools and machines inengineering coursers.Artificial Intelligence will gauge the capacity and the learningof each individual student and tailor courses to suit eachstudent.
Coming to a class room for a lecture may not altogetherdisappear, but would be a rare event, perhaps happeningonce in a term or a month, more for the sake of peer to peerand teacher-student socialization and for establishing aclient (student)-business (college, university) relationship, rather than as a learning or teaching need.
It would be far cheaper to conduct an online course throughZoom than to conduct a one-year physical degree ordiploma course on the campus. Which means also that thecost of education, the cost of a degree will come downdramatically. This will open up higher education to a largernumber of students. Poorer students will be able to join insuch online courses at a fee much lower than the oncampus physical courses of the past.
With the development and widespread recourse to three-dimensional digital courses with extensive use ofholograms, Artificial intelligence etc., education will becomeas widespread as the mobile phone today. For truly anyonewith a mobile phone and willing to invest a very smallamount can join a virtual university and get a graduate, or apost graduate degree, an MBA and even an Engineering orMedical degree.
Education and higher learning with graduate and postgraduate degrees will become truly socialized. I would theneven venture to predict that we will see in future a far largernumber of educated citizenry with a good graduate or postgraduate degree than in the past. Like the mobile phone, higher learning and education will become very widespread.Any student with a smart phone can for a small fee enroll fora degree or a post graduate course and make the grade.
If university courses and degrees are going to be cheaper, then how would the finances of a college or university workout? Would the highly competitive nature of educationwhich will reduce the cost of a degree, discourage privateinvestment in education?
The uberization of education is not likely to be one ofunalloyed good. It will come with some negatives as well.Just as a swiggy delivered meal at home can not replacethe ambiance of a dinner served in a fine restaurant, withthe waitresses and maître de fawning upon you, soonline courses can never fully replace a full course classroom course. One of the processes by which we learntoday is through peer to peer learning in the school, collegeor university. The biggest causality of digital education –howsoever sophisticated it becomes – would be theabsence of direct contact peer to peer learning.
My sense therefore is that just as post Covid there wouldbe fine dining experience in star Michelin restaurants andeven in not so top-end ones, so too there would beschools, colleges and universities offering class roomcourses. Only these courses will like a dinner in arestaurant be extremely expensive which only the childrenof the very very rich can afford. Just as there are today veryexpensive private schools – like for example the Eton inEngland, the Doon School in India – across the world, sotoo would there continue to be a very small number of veryexpensive campus-based courses, which while continuingto have person to person classes with student-teacherinteractions, will also have a fair number of online 3-D andhologram based and Artificial Intelligence aided onlinecourses.
Every digital university or college or school would also liketo bring their students to a campus at intervals. But insteadof separate campuses for each different school as we havetoday, the concept of a shared office space that we seetoday in the workplace may also be replicated in schoolsand colleges. We would have campuses for weekly or dailyrent say with the Campus being hired out by one schoolthis week and a different school the next week.

One of the species that may be endangered because ofdigitalization of education – and may even go extinct, atleast as we know it today – are teachers. Already Byju’shas been replacing the role of teachers. In a verydigitalised scenario, there would be no need for ateacher for every classroom and for every subject. Onehologram image of a teacher can replace hundreds ofactual teachers. That is of course a very saddeningthought.
Will digital education as described above be meaningfulif a good vaccine is invented against the Corona Virus. My answer, for a couple of reasons, would be a yes.Firstly, technology has a momentum of its own andcannot be stood in its tracks. As we have seen in thecase of phones, digital technology in education willinexorably lead to a digitalization of education. A goodvaccine will not be able to stop digital education. It willonly ensure that Campus based education as we know itwill linger on for a longer period. After all the virtual worldcannot replace the joys and pleasures – and the sorrows– of waking up in the morning, reluctantly bathing andchanging into a school uniform, and even morereluctantly going to school. Most of all it cannot replacethe joy of meeting your friends, talking to them, playingwith them, fighting with them, falling in love with them, and the pain and joy of growing up with your friends in aschool or college.
The idea of an Assembly in the morning will also look different. The Assembly ground followingthrough with the principles of social distancing. Class rooms in such shared campuses would alsolook different.
The class rooms will be larger with chairs and desks forstudents at safe social distances. There could even be aconcept of see through cubicles, so that physical contactbetween students in a class is minimized.Another possible challenge for the fullest quick expansionof digital education post Covid, is – like the case of thesmart phone – be the absence of reliable high-speedinternet across swathes of the world, in South Asia –including India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh etc. – parts ofSouth East Asia, Africa, South and Central America etc. This will be a major challenge for the expansion of digitaleducation.
Another challenge to expanding digital education is thatunlike a class room a home is not under the monitoring eyeof teachers all the time. In a school the presence ofteachers, the class monitor, and peers ensures that thestudent is in the class always. In a home setting, thestudent supposedly attending an online class, can veryeasily scoot from the virtual class room.
Children are very inventive and can do this by switching offtheir cameras, blocking it, claiming a fault with the internetetc. Parents are not likely to be able to monitor childrenlearning in homes as much as teachers, and their peers ina classroom. During the Covid period, many parents havecomplained that their children scoot the online classesmaking up inventive excuses. This is only likely to increasein a full fledged digital system of education.
PIVOTING
We are well into a global pandemic withmore than 200,000 people dead and 3.3million infected.
Many economies have been ravaged by the lockdowns
introduced to slow the spread of the disease. At the time
of writing, around one third of the world’s population is
under some sort of restricted movement. It is clearly not
business as usual, even for the rest of the world. The
biggest question entrepreneurs around the world are
trying to find the answer to, is how best to pivot their
businesses to take advantage of the new opportunities
that present – yes opportunities. If entrepreneurs are able
to do one thing, it is to spot the opportunities that
inevitably arise with change. Large disciplined
companies with rigid structures and well established,
iterative methods of developing innovative solutions are
less able to come up with the disruptive, game-changing
solutions that are needed when there are huge changes
in the external environment as we are witnessing now. As
international trade specialists, we have been at the
forefront of the shifting trade winds. We helped our
customers in China procure PPE from India in early
February; we then helped Chinese manufacturers to sell
around the world. One of our business partners, UKLED,
with has been particularly successful at pivoting in this
environment. UKLED is a mid-sized LED manufacturer
based in Liverpool in the UK.
The company had successfully developed a niche in
large scale LED re-lamping projects. Quickly custom
manufacturing LED solutions that retrofit into existing
fixtures and fittings, the company is able to give its
customers an ROI within 3 years on average. In early
February it was clear that this virus was more virulent and
infectious than the previous SARS and MERS viruses.
UKLED began pivoting, branching out into the
development of UV light for sterilisation. UV technology
for sterilisation is not new, however, there was a need for
a packaged solution that could be used to sterilise
enclosed spaces and surfaces. UKLED responded to the
need in the market quickly to develop a suitable solution
that satisfied business needs. In doing this, the company
helped to serve the current needs of the market, for a
quick and effective sterilisation technology, and is seeing
its business grow by leaps and bounds.
THE COMPANY HARNESSED
ITS CORE COMPETENCE ,
THE TECHNOLOGICAL
KNOW -HOW
The company harnessed its core competence, the
technological know-how and manufacturing capability of
lights, and deployed this to solve a current and urgent
problem in the market. Thus it has also successfully
utilised its current resources in this pivot. The key take-
away for us all as entrepreneurs is to take a good look at
our capabilities and resources, and look at the market to
find that opportunity which is the best fit for us. To find
that trapped value in our know-how and resources, and to
find the best strategy to release it. A successful pivot does
not come without some planning and strategy
development; most entrepreneurs however can do this
very well. I wish you all success in your pivot, if you find
the need for it and embark on this challenging path!
Let’s be clear – to pivot is more than to adapt to change. It
is to make substantial changes, to take advantage of new
opportunities that are presenting in the market. These
opportunities may arise as a result of changes such as
technological development, or by external disruption such
as the ongoing pandemic. The need for change can be
clear, but the direction of change may or may not be. The
implementation of change is however the key factor that
differentiates a long term and successful pivot from a
short term, or an unsuccessful pivot. Clearly a pandemic
offers many opportunities for disaster capitalism – the
shorting of stocks, the speculative purchases of products
that go up in demand and price, etc. However this is not
pivoting. A successful pivot brings about lasting value
from the changes. This is why UKLED’s pivot is successful.
The pandemic has highlighted an area in which a value
contribution can be made, i.e. the offering of cost-effective
and efficient method of sterilisation of spaces and
surfaces to the market. This service is likely to be required
long into the future and therefore UKLED’s new
technological know-how and service offering will be in
demand long after the pandemic has been written into
history.

Australia is a business and investment land of opportunity.
Boasting a mature marketplace and ecosystem which
supports start ups in their journey and back established
businesses to help everyone flourish and survive. Although
Australia has an enormous land area spanning some
7,682,300 km 2 , with a population of 26 million, highly
urbanised and heavily concentrated on the eastern
seaboard. This vast land area and growing population is
prime for new businesses, industries, expansions and growth
in the Australasian region.
Business opportunities are consistently developing with an
ever-present need for these to be fulfilled. With Australia
being home to many different people, spanning cultures
from all corners of the world, there is a market for every
industry found across the globe. Within the metropolitan
areas of Australia, your well-known capitals for example
Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane are areas where you will
find a booming and established sector which is always
looking for ways and innovations to optimise and create
solutions. From the IoT to service delivery, the metropolitan
areas still have a great deal of offerings for businesses, both
large and small, to play a role. Although, these opening may
not be easily observable in such a mature market,
consultation with the right knowledge partners can open
doors never thought of.
Although most of the population is found in the major
metropolitan areas, there is a sizable and growing
community found in the regional and outback areas of
Australia. With the support of the government and private
organisations, many businesses and international
organisations have opted to invest in and provide for these
remote areas, as an emerging market within a market is
forming. From the bare necessities to sophisticated
telecommunications and IoT solutions, the regional areas of
Australia are a thriving market that is fast growing.
For entrepreneurs the opportunities are endless. On top of
the needs of the population, there is the enormous import
and export trade that spans the east coast of Australia and
directly into the Australasian markets and the Trans-
Tasman market between Australia and New Zealand. This
network sees livestock, consumables, mining, engineering
solutions and innovations pass through several market
networks funnelling into a vast eco-system of trade lines.
From large companies to Small and medium-sized
enterprises (SMEs), the market is an open playing field
with the governmental support and private backing in all
fields.
To the critical business topic of 2020, COVID-19. COVID-
19 has seen many businesses fall, and on the other hand,
many businesses rise. One of the single greatest factors of
this, is a company’s ability to diversify and adapt to the
market. As aforementioned, Australia being a country with
a market that always has problems needing solutions, a
large group of businesses, both local and internationally,
adapted to the decline of in store movement and this saw
an exponential rise of the e-commerce world for both
goods and services. Further to this, the Australian people
and government have been extremely understanding of
the difficulties faced by businesses and for this, there are
an ample number of support departments and packages
for any and all businesses and entrepreneurs wanting to
join or are already in, the Australian market.
With all that is happening, and the post COVID-19
conditions most Australian states are currently in or fast
heading toward, business prospects have never been so
open. There are plenty of opportunities on offer and new
niches to be explored. There is very much a market here in
Australia and New Zealand to be explored, thrive in and
successful. For more information do not hesitate to

Since we live in an age of innovation, a practicaleducation must prepare a man for work thatdoes not yet exist and cannot yet be clearlydefined. – Peter Drucker
Innovation and Entrepreneurship Go hand in hand.
Companies can get better at implementing innovation in
their businesses by encouraging more entrepreneurial
thinking. Innovation is increasingly becoming critical to
entrepreneurship. Innovation is a facilitator of
entrepreneurship and a way of empowering people to
take charge of their lives and economic prosperity.
Innovation quintessentially is about seeing, perceiving
and solving problems in creative ways.
Entrepreneurship is a behavior rather than a personality
trait. The purposeful and organized search for changes
and the systematic analysis of the opportunities such
changes might offer for social and economic
innovations. Be systematic, keep it simple, start small
and aim for leadership. Your energy introduces you
before you speak. This Covid season in 2020 has
presented us with challenges to deal and opportunities
to explore. Let us move on with an entrepreneurial mind-
set, culture and drive into our new future of changing
demands and different expectations at all levels.
We have to be leading in uncertain times to experiencethe next generation leadership realities. This can beachieved only by thinking and working different for thebenefit of the younger generations and the economicdevelopment of our nation which will all help to leavethis world a better place to live for others. Innovation is afacilitator of entrepreneurship and a way of empoweringpeople to take charge of their lives and economicprosperity. At the same time, entrepreneurship is theanswer to innovation both at individual and business-
level. It also stimulates general business sector growth ofa nation and our world on a larger scale.
Our world of business is changing so rapidly than noother time, so challenging for any Leadership todemonstrate actions compassionate, care and couragerather than confirm, chaos and fear. The only best way isto quickly change and adapting to changing, uncertainand unprecedented times of our world in an extraordinary way.
Innovation and
entrepreneurship
The successful leaders are the ones that demonstrated
and operated well in crisis and managed well under
uncertain times. We have a lot of role models from our
past from generations that have managed well in crisis
like Martin Luther, Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and many
others. We need work together and transform lives and
business by building impact leaders who have good
rational and higher order of thinking. Leaders need act
with genuine care and show emphatic concern for
people and their development and build progress in the
country.Building relationships by making thoughtful
decisions and have a positive impact on people.
Rigidity kills innovation, destroys creativity and leads to
stagnation. Being flexible and adaptable is the new
ways to create and build ideas. Reinventing business
models by practicing frugal innovations. Given how
much things have changed, what has worked in the
past almost certainly won't work in the future.
Today anyone, anyplace at any time can develop an
internet based business that builds scale through the
application of lean methodologies thus creating more
value for customers with fewer resources. Use the
existing limited resources to create innovative
solutions. Don’t hesitate to take the risks.
Communities rapidly develop solutions. Network and
Masterminds support encouragement and such group
or mass interactions enable teams to rapidly develop
solutions that one person probably could never come
up with independently even with an unlimited amount
of time.

“Surround yourself with only people whoare going to lift you higher.”
Modern world is getting faster every day and the effectsare seen as changing cultivation, food processing, cooking utensils, fast food & toxic atmosphere and this ischanging man’s landscape to newer health challenges forwhich there is no cure. Apart from these, effects are seenin community as fast changing life style. leading to utterchaos, distrust and violence. In modern health care, personalized medicine was a distant dream, but theintroduction of nutrigenomics in medical care has madethis dream come true. Medical profession and health careorganisation have to adopt necessary changes andattitudinal changes to deliver the scientific growth to thebenefit of mankind for better health. As man evolved withthe so-called science & technology, sufferings increased, restrictions increased, freedom in every segment ofhuman life is stopped and so is his life style. We calledthem rules and regulations. Initially it was religion, nowit’s politics. The world and people are divided, there’boundary in every cent of land on earth and also in ourown body. The sufferings increased in severity to theextent of covering all part our body with the exception ofnose & mouth through which precious air, water and foodenter our body. Now this area is also covered fearing thatit will spray our body with chemicals and microbes thatour body or mind doesn’t like. Even after covering thisarea we were instructed to spray with chemicals, alcoholetc. and ordering DO NOT MOVE.
Evolutions of medicine is a necessity from timeimmemorial when man started farming or agriculture tofeed themselves. Till that time, we were dependent onnature and wild vegetables and other animals for food. It’s a real fact that National Geography pointed out inthe article stating that “Grains were the worst discoveryof mankind”. Understand that revolutions are mandatoryin health. Changes in health and life can be noticed fromthe point of Hippocrates in 500 BC, the father of modernmedicine Medical systems can be traced to Ayurveda3000 to 1500 BC and TCM 3000 to 2000BC. Modernmedicine originated in 19th century. Know your Genetics & Genomics
To understand yourself, consider you as not a single selfbut a co-operative group of individual cells. Peep insideyour cell and first you encounter a fort outside called ascell membrane that is made up of fat, the most dreadedthing in your life. Just bear this fact in your mind this fattymembrane is your protector and cellular health dependson the quality of fatty layer. There are so many gateshere and we call them as channels which are highlyselective to various molecules necessary for cellularfunction. So, the entry is limited only for nutrients and exitfor metabolic waste produced by millions of biochemicalprocesses occurring inside.
This membrane also expresses out as signalsdescribed below. There are trillions of similar cells inyour body and in our body reside three times thenumber of cells. Once you enter this cell wall, we cansee jam packed smaller molecules, we call them asintra-cellular structures and they are all busy workingfor us. The events happening are energy production, protein manufacture, collection & disposal of metabolicwaste and harmful chemicals and organisms that isdestroyed by our defense. All these are initiated, coordinated and controlled by gene situated in thenucleus. Genes are DNA (Deoxy-ribo Nucleic Acid)present in chromosomes present inside the nucleusand is made of 4 chemical bases Adenine (A), Thymine(T), Cytosine (C), Guanine (G). %% The manufactureof protein is as per the instruction of the expressedgene (genome) in that particular cell. Out of 3.2 billiongenes present in each cell only few genes expressdepending on the function of that organ.
This is the crux of the issue, if this expression ischanged or mutated by some factors, the function isaltered and a disease state sets in. In fact, the effectsof cellular expression are electro-chemical and electro-magnetic signals. These are collectively converted intovarious actions or state that we can visualize in allhumans as character, behavior, health & disease.Nutrigenomics denote a complex partnership of genes, nutrition, health & disease. This consist of thedevelopmental program that decides on resistance ofdiseases or susceptibility, how to struggle, survive andeven death.
Disease is nothing but the
expression of the person to
outside based on the overall
effects of cellular
metabolism.
That’s why medicine has only limited valueas they have no entry into the cell formanipulation of the cellular mechanism. Inolden days this was enough, as blocking theexpression outside the cell or removal of fullydiseased cells or organ was curing becausenature (air, water & food) used to replenishthe cells while taking rest. I think we all knowwhat we get today from our nature and so theadvancement in extra-cellular modernmedical care advancements have only limitedvalue.
Know your Genetics & GenomicsNutrigenomicsScience also revealed lot of things that we have not been paidmuch attention. Genes issue instructions, intra cellularorganelles carry out instructions and effects are beingexpressed out as actions. So, we have to address all the threedimensions of cellular health – Gene inside the nucleus (Mind),Intracellular or cytoplasm (Body) & extra cellular (spirit orenvironment). When these three dimensions are in union and iscarried out by trillions of cells, a human being exist in goodhealth.
Practical delivery of this medicine is termed as FunctionalCellular Medicine. Our experience at Wellness Solutions,Cochin span for more than fifteen years covering more than25000 clients. We were delivering this innovative health care byFunctional Geno-metabolic Assessment – This is done inperson or can be online· Functional Metabolic NutritionalTherapy – Personalized, exercise, relaxation, diet, fasting, nutritional supplements & medications.·Functional Metabolic Monitoring – This is the mainly bymonitoring of QALY (quality of life in years)
I hope you got something beneficial from this brief journeythrough your forbidden secret areas. This give you the feel thatthere is good hope and so the belief in NUTRIGENOMICS isnecessary for better cellular metabolism and better life with lessfear & sufferings. This is the New age Health care that is thenecessity of today and the personal goal is to improve quality oflife.can visualize in all humans as character, behavior, health &disease. Nutrigenomics denote a complex partnership of genes, nutrition, health & disease.
This consist of the developmental program that decides onresistance of diseases or susceptibility, how to struggle, surviveand even death. MicrobiomeOur body is house for trillions of micro-organisms. They also have genes andtheir expression is called microbiome. The ratio of our genes to microbes are1: 150 which denotes that we aredictated by our microbes. When ourgenome & microbiome go in union weare in perfect health. Our microbes helpto adapt very easily to new conditions, new spaces & environments. So, theydecide everything about person’s life.
SOUTH AFRICARISINGWe have all been affected by the current crisis in one way oranother. And what of the world of business? Businesses of all sizeshave been forced to review their internal business models and goback to their core, thus shedding costs, including staff, that are notdeemed to be critical to the survival, continuation or growth of theentity. What does all of this translate into in an emerging economysuch as South Africa?
To provide some context, South Africa is actually the 21st
largest power producing country in the world, exporting
this commodity to seven African countries and producing
more electricity than the Czech Republic, Singapore,
Hong Kong, Ireland, and Denmark combined. The recent
growth of domestic, industrial and trade demand has
caused increasing countrywide energy shortages due to
the generation and capacity challenges of Eskom (a
State-owned entity dominating the energy space). As a
result, the South African government has embarked on a
modernization and refurbishment of traditional energy
generation, and has identified renewable energy as a
critical sector in its new industrialization campaign which
it is supporting with various funding initiatives. Africa at
large has seen an increased undertaking of renewable
and alternative energy sources - South Africa, Kenya,
Egypt, Namibia and Ghana were named the fastest
growing PV markets on the continent in 2018.
Furthermore, South Africa has proprietary technologies
which allow the conversion of coal to petroleum. And
although South Africa does not have her own oil fields, to
her East lie some of the world’s largest reserves of natural
gas.
In the agricultural space, the African continent as a whole
remains the only region yet to experience a “Green
Revolution” and will require substantial investment in
order to guarantee food security. Reports have shown
multiple agricultural opportunities such as wheat
production in Ethiopia, cassava in Nigeria and maize in
Tanzania. Despite the current crisis, a rapidly growing
African population means a soaring demand for food,
creating new growth opportunities in agriculture.
In spite of the one million jobs lost in South Africa
since the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic (over
and above the 29% unemployment rate prior to Covid-
19), surprisingly enough, now more than ever do we
face a battle for talent. Businesses can no longer
afford to NOT have the best staff with the ability and
drive to execute and deliver on a vision that will help
to take an organisation to its next new level of
development and growth. To add to this challenge,
global talent that was previously hired to implement
projects in niche areas such as robotics automation,
IOT, machine learning and other emerging
technologies, is now limited due to travel bans and
has caused a very real skills shortage, as well as a
delay in necessary skills transfer.
What does this mean on a practical level in the
recruitment world? Organisations will require
increasingly robust and reliable search and
recruitment processes to screen amongst the
thousands of available candidates in the marketplace
to find the select few stars who not only fulfill the
technical competencies of the role, but align to the
culture, values, and vision that will ensure a long-
lasting partnership and growth for both candidate and
client in a challenging climate. Whereas a larger
market has been created, new challenges have arisen
as apparently enthusiastic candidate pools are
plagued by financial and psychological distress that
could indeed affect performance. Retention strategies
will take on a different form as companies tighten their
purse strings and still wish to ‘’lock-in’’ their best
people. Will change management and harmonization
take on a more practical form? Or will a lack of job
security encourage people to stay put instead of
considering that next potential growth move?

So where-in lies the opportunity?
And what of manufacturing? South Africa has set up special economic development zones to stimulate the
manufacturing space. Considerable efforts being made by government to support the manufacturing industry
including the establishment of various ministries and programmes specifically designed to develop various
industries and attract direct foreign investment. Recently, one of Africa’s first smart phone manufacturing
plants has been established in South Africa to build smart phones that are designed specifically for the African
continent and its context.
Furthermore, several of the world’s largest automotive companies have manufacturing plants in South Africa,
where they benefit from ease of access to and supply of raw materials. With a reduced labor cost in
comparison to first world markets, the support of first world infrastructure and access to a competent and
effective pool of talent, as well as a desire for organisations to become increasingly more independent from
China, South Africa and Africa are poised for massive growth. Not to mention great cost of living with the
benefit of an established financial infrastructure.
In terms of general infrastructure, South Africa already has 5G technology deployed and operating in a
commercial capacity with large coverage in the more densely populated provinces. Over and above this, two
of the main telecommunications companies have partnered in a new initiative of laying thousands of
kilometres of under-water cables that will significantly increase the capacity and speed of internet
connectivity of coastal African countries to the rest of the world (this is due to be completed in 2024/5). The
financial services sector is also highly advanced and in several areas eclipses the functionality and complexity
of systems and product offerings found in various first-world markets such as the USA, UK, and Europe. Health
services are the best on the continent and range from a wide array of private operators (increasing medical
tourism industry) to a robust public system. Similarly in the education space, South Africa is home to several of
the leading universities on the continent, including a large private sector primary, secondary and tertiary
education space.
In essence, Africa and South Africa specifically are positioned for phenomenal growth for decades ahead with
the benefit of strong infrastructure, commitment from government to increase stability and capacity of
supporting infrastructure, supported by a robust financial services industry, easy access to raw materials and
an abundance of labor. Moreover, she holds a rapidly growing, highly skilled workforce which has come
through and educational system supported by a continental market of over 1 billion people with growing
propensity of disposable income. If you’re not already here, the question you should be asking yourself is,
‘Why Not’?

HOW THE COIMBATORECHAPTER CAN HELP
Main Industries
The Coimbatore Chapter has formed a
cluster to provide a one window
solution for global companies looking
for setting up a manufacturing facility
in Coimbatore. The chapter has
formed a group of specialists who can
handle all aspects of setting up the
factory – both technical and
commercial. From feasibility study,
land procurement, location approvals
and registrations & clearances from
different agencies to build and operate
a factory. We find the right architects,
PMCs, contractors and vendors as well
as coordinate between agencies
working on the project. Our team will
also co-ordinate with all the authorities,
contractors, suppliers, etc. Plus the
Chapter will take responsibility for the
entire administrative / commercial
management (finance / accounting /
HR compliance) of the project even on
a BOT model.
THE LIBRE-SOC PROJECTMarketNext is delighted to present the Libre-SOC
Project, a commercial game-changer and Libre
Hardware project, conceived by Luke Leighton, a new
member of the Marketnext Global Family.
The Libre-SOC Project is designing and manufacturing
a brand new state-of-the-art microchip with built-in
Video and 3D Graphics capability funded by NLNet
under their Privacy and Enhanced Trust Programme.
This design is being developed, using Libre-licensed
principles meaning that everything associated with
bringing it into being is open and transparent. Once
fully scaled, anyone, any entrepreneur, anywhere in
the world will be able to buy and use the chip to meet
the computing needs of their local market. To date, this
kind of development activity has been exclusively the
realm of very large corporations.
Chips based around this design will allow individuals
and SME’s to manufacture all kinds of computing
devices from Smartphones, tablets & notebooks to
single board computers. Suddenly, anybody with a
small workshop will be able to create sophisticated
computing devices with minimal legal and technical
hurdles. Countries and citizens will gain Sovereign
control over their computing technology.
The potential applications are limitless. The concept
has the potential to revolutionise the current internet
making it better suited to developing economies, and
providing access to management heuristics within that
network.
The beauty of the design being conducted entirely in
the open is that developers do not need to sign
License agreements or NDAs (Non-Disclosure
Agreements). They can download the drivers and the
full hardware design immediately. Mistakes are
rectified faster and more elegant solutions are
incorporated earlier. The open design process always
creates better results which are more user and market
friendly.
When a planned Quad-core SMP version is ready, its
cost in volume will be around $4 (74 ZAR, 302 INR,
£3.22).
Libre-SOC is inviting anyone to co-create empowering
opportunities for the people who use it. Luke Leighton
conceived this design, and, on the comp.arch
newsgroup, gained the advice and help of Mitch Alsup.
Mitch has over 40 years experience designing
processors for brands including Motorola, AMD and
Samsung.

“We’re not trying to build the fastest", Luke said."or the most powerful computer processor ever.[We are building] the most radical design”.
Libre-SOC is a system which has grown followingLibre principles. In essence it extends the ethicalFOSS (Free Open Source Software) principles intohardware. When this chip exists there will be nocorporate stranglehold on any part of the softwareor hardware stack. This allows massive revenuetransfer. Closed markets will be opened andproduct income will be created for all members ofthe network closer to the point of use. Theastronomical revenues kept in tax havens by thehuge corporations can now be shared by localcommunities all over the whole world

“That’s just a leap,” says Nadella. “We’ve talked about these
things for decades, but this is the time where we are doing
it at scale. So the question is, what are we learning? What
does it show which is sustainable? What should we re-
imagine when we get back to ‘normal?”
Most employees are worried lot... Many Bengaluru-based
company has slashed salary by 25%. But in other parts you
lose your job or are asked to take leave without pay.
For the people adversely impacted: Will have to alter
lifestyle and focus only on essential expenses for now.
Smart steps to be taken
Adjusting budget to cut the discretionary spending so that
essential expenditures like child’s education goal is not
impacted. Have life and health insurance.
Have to identify how to supplement income.
Bigger problems are for soul breadwinner for family that has
quit job recently or being put on indefinite unpaid leave.
Still searching for a new job and emergency fund might last
only for a month or two months.
In India, the lockdown since March-end has seen the
country and industries come to a grinding halt, wiping out
start-ups, bringing small and medium scale businesses to
the cusp of collapse, sowing widespread unemployment
and salary cuts, and altering the workplace and lives of
millions of employees. While the International Labor
Organisation (ILO) estimates the loss of full-time jobs
worldwide to be 305 million, in India, the total number of
jobs likely to be impacted is 136 million, as per the National
Sample Survey and Periodic Labor Force Survey.
“Any sector that delivers to discretionary spends or involves
high people connect, like travel, is likely to get impacted
more than others,” says Rajul Mathur, Consulting Head,
Talent and Rewards, Willis Towers Watson, India. Agrees
Neeti Sharma, Senior Vice-President, Team lease Services:
“Most people who plan vacations around this time have
stalled and so has the travel business. The automobile
volume may decline by 15-16% in 2020 as the companies
have shut down manufacturing and put production on
hold.”
As companies try to ensure their survival by cutting costs,
many have resorted to slashing salaries and laying off people.
Others have put employees on indefinite leave without pay or
put freshly hired staff on hold. According to an online survey
conducted by the Economictimes.com on the impact of Covid-
19, as many as 39% of the 3,074 respondents who took the
survey are facing a salary cut, while 15% are set to lose their
jobs. Despite the fact that 15% respondents are facing a salary
cut of more than 25%, almost 43%of these are likely to
continue with their current jobs and not look for new ones.
Response, recovery and re imagining is the way forward.
I don’t think we go forward with exactly the same type of
workflows or how we do work or business process the same
way. We need to collect as much data as possible on how
smart people have adjusted and is working. Plans to publish
what we find and start adapting the each of our life’s at-scale
and experiment. One of the areas I as a manager is particularly
watching: How managers can empathize with and connect
with employees more emotionally in a remote setting.
All of us are doing lots of meetings. They’re all video meetings.
That’s fantastic, we’re getting a lot done. We have more stand-
ups [meetings], even more so because of the crisis. But we
have not checked-in, had those hallway conversations, those
few minutes that you have the person sitting next to you in a
meeting where you are able to connect with them. How do
you recreate that mechanism? I think it requires a new type of
culture.
As most companies are experimenting with work from home
we need to create a new “hybrid,” type of working. Like sales
field offices, most employees are already remote or remote
most days of the work week. There will be no monolithic way
we need to keep learning and adapting. I think we want to
accommodate for more and more flexibility. If anything, this
shows let’s be even less monolithic and accommodate for a
variety of workflows and work styles, and accommodate for it
versus being dogmatic.
I recently got a reality check from studying on Walmart and
Microsoft about work during the pandemic. While Microsoft
staff might be productive working from home, Walmart was
sending in more than one million workers daily to its stores to
allow them to do so. “I think the worst mistake anyone can
make is to be dogmatic and say that everything needs to be
done in a particular way.
The Microsoft chief says he is seeing a migration to newer cloudtechnology in local governments, schools and hospitals that is in
some cases skipping multiple generations of tech.

Why India Has a Chance to
Replace China as Global
Economic Leader Post
Coronavirus Crisis ?
The novel coronavirus which was Identified Initially in
Wuhan, China, is continuing its destructive expedition
affecting millions and refraining the travel of the
highly mobile global population, impeding the
sustainable growth around the world. This outbreak
has brought the world to a Panic situation which may
result in a Global Recession & economic
turbulenceAmid this arena, could also witness some
“speech of hope” by the prime minister of India about
transforming India as a global manufacturing hub
surpassing china.
Whether this hypothetical statement may remain as
same or this was any endorsement for the precedent
course of actions. Historically, India was the largest
economy in the world for most of the two millennia
from the 1st until 19th century, depending mainly on
natural resources and trade. After the colonisation,
depletion in its prominence eventuated the economic
degradation.
Being in an inferior position until the last decades of
20th century, begin witnessing major economic
reform initiatives to transform its developing
economy. In this 21st century, it is the world's fifth-
largest economy by nominal GDP and the third-largest
by purchasing power parity (PPP).
India has the world's fourth-largest natural resources,
second-largest coal , cement , steel and the third-
largest electricity producer. Apart from theses
conventional sectors, India have made significant
achievements in contemporary Hi-Tech Industries; the
Indian IT industry is one of the major exporter of IT
services across the globe with $180 billion in revenue,
telecommunication industry is the world's second
largest by number of mobile phone, Smartphone, and
internet users, its automobile industry is the world's
fourth largest by production. The $672 billion worth of
retail market is one of world's fastest growing e-
commerce markets and the largest producer of
generic medicines.
There are some contradictory figures also to point out
like a country with one of the world's highest number
of billionaires have barely 2% of its population eligible
for paying income tax. The second largest country
with uneven wealth distribution, the richest 10% is
controlling the 81% of wealth. With The highest Net
migration Rate, Unemployment and under-
employment was always a long-standing problem in
the Indian economy.
With 520-million-workers, the Indian labour force is
the world's second-largest as of 2019, when
significant success acquired by the migrated Skilled
labours around the globe also taken in to
consideration it can be considered for the mogul for
Human resources. It was a high time for the authorities
to think for a consolidated Development Policy
covering all the industries and utilising technology for
using its resources to the best of its abilities. This was
the reason for the development of the Project “Make
in India”
How the “Make in India” project will transform Indiato a global manufacturing Hub
Make in India, articulated to be a Swadeshi movement
covering 25 sectors of the Indian economy, was launched
by the Government of India on 25 September 2014 to
encourage companies to manufacture their products in
India and enthuse with dedicated investments into
manufacturing. The attributes of this Target are 10 missions
which are defined below.
Digital India – For the Technology Infrastructure Digital
India is a campaign launched by the Government of India in
order to ensure the Government's services are made
available to citizens electronically by improved online
infrastructure and by increasing Internet connectivity or
making the country digitally empowered in the field of
technology.
Startup India – For the Human Recourse and Knowledge
InfrastructureStartup India is a flagship initiative of the
Government of India, intended to build a strong eco-system
for nurturing innovation and Startups in the country that will
drive sustainable economic growth and generate large
scale employment opportunities.
AGNII Accelerating Growth of New India’s Innovations or
AGNIi is a national initiative to support the ongoing efforts
to boost the innovation ecosystem in the country by
connecting innovators across industry, individuals and the
grassroots to the market and helping to commercialize their
innovative solutions and thereby propelling India into a new
era of inclusive economic growth.
Industrial corridors – For physical infrastructureAn industrial
corridor is a package of infrastructure spending allocated to
a specific geographical area, with the intent to stimulate
industrial development. The different sectors of an economy
are inter-dependent on each other. Industrial corridors,
recognising this inter-dependence, offer effective
integration between industry and infrastructure, leading to
overall economic and social development
Bharath Mala Pariyojana – For Transportation
Infrastructure Bharatmala Pariyojana is a new umbrella
program for the highways sector that focuses on optimizing
efficiency of freight and passenger movement across the
country by bridging critical infrastructure gaps through
effective interventions like development of Economic
Corridors, Inter Corridors and Feeder Routes, National
Corridor Efficiency Improvement, Border and International
connectivity roads, Coastal and Port connectivity roads and
Green-field expressways.
NITI
AAYOG
Sagar Mala project The Sagarmala Programme is an initiative by the
government of India to promote port-led development in
the country by exploiting India's 7,500 km long
coastline, 14,500 km of potentially navigable waterways
and its strategic location on key international maritime
trade routes , which will enhance the performance of the
country's logistics sector. It has it objectives to set up
new mega ports, modernizing India's existing ports,
developing of 14 Coastal Economic Zones (CEZs) and
Coastal Employment Units, enhancing port connectivity
via road, rail, multi-modal logistics parks, pipelines &
waterways
UDANUDAN-RCS, UDAN : is a regional airport
development and "Regional Connectivity Scheme" (RCS)
of Government of India, with the objective of "letting the
common citizen of the country fly", aimed at making air
travel affordable and widespread, to boost inclusive
national economic development, job growth and air
transport infrastructure development of all regions and
states of India. The scheme has two components. The
first component is to develop new airports and enhance
the existing regional airports.
SMART CITIES MISSION : National Smart Cities Mission is an urban renewal and
retrofitting program by the Government of India with the
mission to develop smart cities across the country,
making them citizen friendly and sustainable. The Union
Ministry of Urban Development is responsible for
implementing the mission in collaboration with the state
governments of the respective cities. Role of Niti Ayog in
transforming India.
This move can be considered as a positive stride in the
transition to a New age India. Mr. Amitabh Kant CEO,
Niti Aayog – The mastermind in this Initiative, is one
such bureaucrat who have transformed the perspectives
in this transition, The pioneer in elevating the Tourism
Industry in the country with initiatives like ‘Gods Own
Country’, ‘Incredible India’ and ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’, was
also the driving force of the first Industrial corridor DMIC.
On the release of the strategy in February 2020 he have
quoted that “Governance in India faces unique
challenges in the scale, diversity and complexity of
processes involved for delivery of varied public services.
Blockchain offers unique possibilities of addressing
issues relating to improving governance” This can be
considered as an integration of latest technologies for
confronting multifarious objectives. This was evident
with the successful accomplishment of Aarogya Sethu &
Mitr Application were a number of technologies like Geo
– Fencing , remote monitoring, data logging, data
encryption with unique digital ID (DID), cloud Hospitals
and Tele medicine and advanced technologies was
incorporated for extensive services during this
pandemic.
For the last two decades, China has been the hardware
base of the world, while India has been the software
base. In 2010, China surpasses the US to emerge as the
world’s largest manufacturing sector. However, the
concept as world’s factory began way back in the 1980s
initially as a producer of low-end products which
emerged to become a multifarious manufacturing hub,
thereby accounting for 28 percent of global
manufacturing output in 2018.
The factors prompted China’s success can be
comprehended as world-class infrastructure, logistics,
and complete policy support to the sector as well as low
labour wages. Realizing the drawbacks of being
excessively dependent for manufacturing on a single
country and the supply shock created During the
Epidemic Shutdown has prompted the global firms to
look for new manufacturing centres as a part of risk
hedging strategy for the future and looking to expand
the geographic spread of their facilities. This moment of
opportunity can be harvested if India can create a
manufacturing-friendly environment and offer lucrative
deals to global players for setting up units in India.
Reports have indicated that a large number of
companies have already initiated talks with Indian
authorities seeking to pursue production plans in this
country in sectors such as electronics, medical devices
and textiles, among others, India needs to capitalize on
this opportunity and present itself as a viable alternative
manufacturing destination.The prominence and
expectation for the ‘Make in India’ project is always high
and if India can learn from the experiences and creates a
favourable ecosystem with a cluster of buyers, sellers,
skilled labour and integrate technology for the effective
utilisation of this , yes India Can become a Global
Manufacturing Hub.!!!!!
Niti Aayog the Policy Think Tankof the Government of India have
come up with a ‘Block chainstrategy’ - Utilising latest
technology for the effectiveimplementation of projects and
integrating its stake holders .
