GOVERNOR’S ORDINANCES.An Ordinance to make special additional financial provision

for the Public Services for the financial year 1938-39.

A. Caldecott.

BE it enacted by the Governor of Ceylon as follows :—1 This Ordinance may he cited as the Public Services Short title.

(Additional Financial Provision) Ordinance, No. 54 of 1938.2 (1) Without prejudice to. any other law authorising

any expenditure and in addition to the sums declared by the Appropriation Ordinance, No. 42 of 1938, to he payable out of the revenue and other funds of the Island for the service of the financial year beginning on October 1, 1938, and ending on September 30, 1939, sums not exceeding six hundred thousand rupees in the aggregate are hereby declared to be payable out of such revenue and other funds for the service of that financial year ; and the said sums are hereby allocated to the specific purposes set out in the second column of the Schedule under the Head enumerated in the first column of- that Schedule, and may he expended accordingly.

(2) In this section “ Head ” means a Head enumerated in Schedule I to the Appropriation Ordinance, No. 42 of 1938, and hearing the same number in that Schedule as in the Schedule to this Ordinance.

2 Section 2 of the Colombo Graving Dock and Patent Slip Ordinance, 1908, is hereby amended in the definition of “ Graving dock ” in that section by the substitution, for the words “ graving dock ” where those words occur collectively for the second and third times in that definition, of the words “ graving docks ” .

Objects and Reasons.

The object of this Bill is to amendthe definition of “ graving dock ” in the Colombo Graving Dock and Patent Slip Ordi­nance, 1908, so as to make the provisions- of that Ordinance applicable to the new Inner Graving Dock which was recently constructed.
