QUEBEC TEACHER OF DISTINCTION

Sophie Hsu began piano lessons at the age of four with Wei-Sze Chang. She participated in various piano competitions organized by The Quebec Music Teacher Association, Canadian Music Competition, and Classical Music Festival (now organized by Q.M.T.A.), where she often finished with top honours in her category.

She won first place for eight years in a row at the Classical Music Festival competition. Sophie was the winner of the national competition “C.M.C.” in 1997. In the same year, she also received the highest mark at the C.M.C. (piano category).

In 2006, celebrating 250 years since Mozart’s birth, The Austria Society sponsored Sophie to perform Mozart’s famous “Coronation” piano concerto in D major with symphony Orchestra of F.A.C.E. in the presence of the Austrian Ambassador of Canada.

In recent years, Sophie has dedicated her time to composing and teaching. She is an RCM Certified Teacher and has been teaching for more than 10 years. Her innovative teaching methods have led her students to receive remarkable results in piano examinations and performances.

Sophie’s love of music inspires her students to pursue piano as a passion.

PROFESSEURE DE DISTINCTION POUR LE QUÉBEC

Sophie Hsu a débuté ses leçons de piano à l’âge de quatre ans sous la tutelle de Wei-Sze Chang. Elle a participé à différents concours de piano organisés par l’Association des professeurs de musique du Québec, le Concours de musique du Canada (CMC) et le Festival de musique classique (maintenant organisé par l’APMQ), où elle a souvent remporté le premier prix dans sa catégorie.

Sophie s’est mérité le premier prix huit ans de suite lors du concours du Festival de musique classique. En 1997, elle a remporté le prix national lors du CMC, en plus d’y recevoir la note la plus élevée en piano.

En 2006, pour souligner le 250e anniversaire de la naissance de Mozart, la Société autrichienne de musique a parrainé sa performance du célèbre concerto pour piano « du Couronnement » en ré majeur avec l’Orchestre symphonique FACE, en présence de l’ambassadeur d’Autriche au Canada.

Depuis quelques années, Sophie consacre davantage de temps à la composition et à l’enseignement. Elle est enseignante certifiée au Conservatoire royal de musique, où elle enseigne depuis plus de dix ans. Ses méthodes novatrices ont permis à ses élèves d’obtenir d’excellents résultats lors des examens et des performances de piano.

L’amour de Sophie pour la musique inspire ses élèves à faire de l’instrument leur passion.
