• The 71st Independence day was celebrated with greatenthusiasm at Indian Steel Corporation limited (Bhimasar).

• Chief Guest Shri Arunava Lahiri (President Works) unfurledthe Tri-colour at 0945 Hours.

• He highlighted the significance of celebrating such occasionsjust like the religious rituals we follow to commemorateimportant events in our personal lives.

• He further added that the Freedom was earned with greatsacrifices by people like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose,sacrifices by people like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose,Mahatma Gandhi, Abul kalam Azad, Pandit Nehru and scoresof freedom fighters who could easily have led comfortablelives as they were ICS, Lawyers, Advocates, Educationists etcbut they chose to fight for the common men and generationsto come.

• He asked everyone to introspect if we are doing anything tomake life better for generations to come. In fact we aredegenerating into valueless self centred crowd having nosense of responsibility reminiscent in our behavior.

• Quoting one incident of road side accident where people kept

making videos and sharing on social media highlights the sort of

callousness we display in our conduct is very sad.

• He said one freedom has been achieved but we need to break

shackles of abject povery, illiteracy, religious bigotry etc to earn

freedom from social evils like girl child infanticide, inequality etc.

• He also urged each and every one to ask kids to read books like

Freedom at Midnight to know the history of freedom struggle and

act as responsible citizens in maintaining cleanliness and not toact as responsible citizens in maintaining cleanliness and not to

harm the environment.

• He also dwelt upon the tough business environment in which we

are operating and expressed hope that we can emerge from it if we

move hand in hand as a team.

• The program concluded with Tea & snacks after prize distribution.
