surgical nursing clinical experience at a medical-surgical unit in an
acute care health center and in the simulation lab. Also, taught
senior nursing students on multiple psychiatric mental health units
caring for pediatric, adult, and geriatric clients. This provided up-
to-date experience on nursing practice in the psychiatric and
medical-surgical settings. In spring of 2020

Ensured that programs met the standards of both the Pennsylvania
State Board of Nursing and the Accreditation Commission for
Education in Nursing. Managed the budget for the nursing
program. Interacted with leaders and associates in clinical
agencies and within the university keeping them informed of issues
impacting the school and the students. Supported non-traditional
and traditional students in matriculating through the program in
multiple ways. The nursing program had a total of 200 students
and 9 full-time faculty members. Reported to the Academic Dean

Managed a free-standing hospital-based clinic, The Saint Vincent
Complementary Care Center and developed policy and protocol for
providing complementary care services for inpatients (integration)
at the health center. Made frequent guest appearances to educate
the public and promote complementary care use. Served as a
therapist at the center providing both therapeutic touch and cranio-
sacral therapies. Formally counseled clients based on the latest
evidenced-based research and made recommendations for specific
complementary therapy use during individualized sessions.

Trainer Education Consortium (ELNEC) as a part of a national education
initiative to improve nursing education on end-of-life care, a
project initiated by the American Association of Colleges of
Nursing and City of Hope- awarded in January 2011. Awarded
again in 2017.
ASHI ACLS Certified by the American Safety and Health Institute in
advanced cardiac life support for health care professionals on June
29, 2007 through June 29, 2009.

Chair of Graduate Research Projects
Currently chairing six graduate research projects with 16 students in the DNP and MSN
programs. Completed chairing/leading hundreds of research projects while teaching
graduate students at Edinboro University and Clarion University from 2007 to present.
This is a consortium program serving students at the MSN and DNP level.
Assisting Simmons University nursing students with their research project
development in the courses Scholarly Inquiry I and Scholarly Inquiry II. These projects
are systematic literature reviews, quality improvement studies, and experimental research
studies. Meets with students weekly to guide them in project development during an
online Live Session.
GRANT AWARDS
Awarded in spring, 2008- Submitted to the Edinboro University Sabbatical Committee to
write a book entitled “Energy by design: Learning to use therapeutic touch and develop
energy awareness” during the Spring Semester, 2011.
Awarded in fall, 2005- grant from Edinboro University Wide Research Committee to
conduct study of algometer tool for pain measurement (1,000).
Awarded grant May 2003 from the Nurses Honor Society, Sigma Theta Tau, Nu

Active as guest lecturer on therapeutic touch presenting during the 2010 Spring Semester
to the Philosophy Club and on relaxation and energy theory to a “Women and Health”
class on October 4, 2010 at Edinboro University.
Created two courses which are now offered at Edinboro University: “Frontiers of
Healing: Therapeutic Touch” (approved by University Curriculum Committee in 2002)
and a Web based course for the RN to BSN program on Nursing Research (approved in
2008).
Previous service on University Enrollment Management Committee (2004-2005) and
University Research Committee (2006-2008). Current service (2011-2013) on the
University Student Concerns Committee.
Served as “Administrator” to create and present a summer camp experience at Edinboro
University for children, grades nine to eleven who were interested in health careers with
camp director from the Northwest Region Area Health Education Center (AHEC) in the
summer of 2007 on the Edinboro University Campus in Pennsylvania.
Assisted Edinboro University Students as faculty representative and mentor for
“minicamp” program, a one-day orientation program for the orientation of junior nursing
students to the clinical setting by senior nursing students.
Service on multiple departmental committees including Undergraduate Curriculum
Committee (served as Secretary in 2006/2007 and served last in 2011/2012), Faculty
Organization Committee (actively serving) , Program Evaluation Committee (served as
Secretary in 2006, and actively serving 2012/2013), Technology Committee
(2006/2007), Awards and Scholarship (served as Chairperson in 2005/2006), Tenure,
Promotion, and Sabbatical Committee, (actively serving on Performance Review and
Evaluation part of this committee as Secretary) and Joint MSN Graduate Program
Committee (actively serving). Served on Admissions Committee in Graduate Nursing
Program in (2011/2012). Served on Grade Appeals and Professional Conduct Committee
(2011- Present).
Completed departmental survey/research on the success of the integration of research
content through the curriculum. Presented these faculty survey results to the Faculty
Organization Committee in 2008.
Chaired a “Senior Day” for nursing seniors which involved arranging for NCLEX
(National Council Licensure Exam) preparation, making speakers available to students,
arranging for recruiters from the local area (Pittsburgh, Astabula, Cleveland, Erie) to be
present, and matching faculty members to students to act as counselors for the day
regarding their results of pretests completed for NCLEX preparation 2008 and 2009.

Attended the Nineteenth Annual Student Athlete Awards Banquet and accompanied an
Edinboro nursing student at this event where she was honored in 2009 and another
student in 2011.
Current and previous service as a Chairperson and Committee Member on thesis
committees to assist graduate nursing students in completing their research learning
objectives and graduate nursing degrees.
Assisted in presentation to senior nursing students entitled “Preparing for Your
Professional Career” as guest lecturer on “Preparing for State Boards: Using Relaxation
Techniques to Improve Test Scores” on November 16, 2007 on the Edinboro University
Campus.
