CHILDREN IN NEED

We all had a great time supporting ‘Children in Need’ and your

children looked fantastic. Thank you very much for all your kind

donations. We have managed to raise £344. Fantastic!

BUTSER ANCIENT FARM

As part of their topics, year 3 visited the farm and had a fantastic day out learning about life in the past. Year 3 had lots of fun this year learning about the life and culture of early humans. They have participated in a wide range of activities both in school and at Butser Ancient Farm, including baking Stone Age bread, Celtic jewellery making and learning about the agricultural lifestyle of their ancestors! They have ended the term with their own cave paintings using natural materials to create their tools and paints.

for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

PUBLIC CONSULTATION

On Thursday 11th January there will be an opportunity for all to see

the proposed new school building plans from 2:30pm -7pm in the main

school hall.

The new building will comprise of a 3 story building which looks great!

It will so much better than what we have now. Look out for the letter!

BACK TO SCHOOL School starts back on Tuesday 9th January 2018.

BONFIRE EVENT

Once again, the school worked alongside the Landport Community with Rob Neale and hosted this year’s bonfire and fireworks night. Everything ran very smoothly and the event was once again well attended. Well done!

LATE FOR SCHOOL?

School starts at 8:50 am for years 3 to 6 and 9 am for years R to 2. Our attendance officer does monitor families who are persistently late. Please aim to be on time.

REMEMBRANCE DAY

We had a two minute silence for Remembrance day. Your children were so respectful. AMAZING!

YR 6 @ SUBMARINE MUSEUM

Year 6 had a fantastic day out at the Submarine Museum in Gosport. They travelled there via the Gosport Ferry, who for some children this was the first time on a boat. At the museum, the children learned about life under the sea on a real life WW2 submarine!

Random Christmas Fact: Christmas trees usually grow for about 15 years before they’re sold.

GLEE CLUB SING

Mrs Denford and her Glee Club have been busily singing all over the place! They sang beautifully in St Mary’s Church.

STEM DAY (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths)

Some lucky year 5 children got to spend the day at Sir Ben Ainslie's

Racing Head Quarters. Here they learnt about what it takes to build a

boat to win the America's Cup. It was a great day of STEM and

sustainability activities and the children were awarded a British

Science Association CREST award at the end

WINCHESTER CATHEDRAL

Year 4 explored the Anglo Saxon city of Winchester. They held an

Anglo Saxon pot, illuminated letters and were fantastic ambassadors

for Arundel Court. Well done Year 4!

YEAR 1 ALIEN HUNT

Year 1 went on an alien hunt today.

They got a message from Mr Jones

to tell them that the aliens had landed

in school. They were after their

packed lunches. They couldn't find

the aliens but found clues they had

been here. Luckily no one was

missing a packed lunch.

This is to help Year 1 write recounts.

The average Brit consumes around 7,000 calories on Christmas day and you’ll reach your recommended daily allowance at about 2pm.

YEAR 2 TRAP A DRAGON

Year 2 have been trying to trap a dragon. They had to dig a hole,

cover it with a sheet & leaves and leave a juicy bit of meat on top. So

far, NO LUCK! Please let them know if you see one around Landport!

YEAR 5 VIKINGS FOR A DAY

Year 5 children became Vikings for the day, they wrote their names in

Runes then built a shelter with resources from the forest.

Random Christmas Fact: 10 million… The number of Turkeys cooked in the UK every Christmas.
