PreparationUnpack the Aura I nter ior and inspec t the contents for damaged or miss ing produc ts. I f any problems ar ise, p lease contac t Touch-Plate at 260.426.1565 for ass istance.

Prec autionsThe Aura I nter ior hardware is des igned to be in environments that have a temperature range of 0-60°C (non- condensing atmosphere) . I nsta l l ing in an environment outs ide of these parameterswi l l shor ten the l i fe span of the hardware.

Touch-Plate recommends the use of 18 to 22 AWG wire for low voltage wir ing of contac t c losure produc ts, 18 AWG wire for a l l 24v power connec t ions, and 16 AWG wire for Smar t Switch Stat ions.

Al l 120VAC wir ing must use wire as speci f ied by Nat ional E lec tr ic Code for load s ize and wire length.

Compatible HardwareThe Aura is a smar t sensor that can be a par t of a net worked, intel l igent system.

Warrant yTouch-Plate warrants this produc t against defec ts in mater ia ls or work manship, under normal use, for a per iod of ONE (1) year f rom date of shipment. I f a defec t ar ises and a val id c la im is received within the Warrant y Per iod, Touch-Plate wi l l repair or replace the produc t at no charge.

This warrant y does not apply to :

S etting the S ensor Address for the First TimeTypical ly the Aura sensor comes f rom the fac tor y pre -addressed. The fol lowing steps are only appl icable i f the address was not set at the fac tor y. Only attempt to address one unaddressed sensor at a t ime, per room. The fol lowing steps are only appl icable us ing a Universal IR Remote.

1 . Power up the Aura sensor. A white l ight wi l l turn on.

2 . Press ‘POWER ’. A blue l ight wi l l f lash.

3 . Enter the desi red address and press ‘ENTER ’. A red l ight wi l l b l ink and then bl ink each t ime mo -t ion is detec ted.

a . I f the desi red address is 10 , press the 1 and 0 .

1 . Point the Universal IR Remote towards the sensor and press ‘STOP ’. A blue l ight wi l l f lash.

4 . Enter the numbers 101 to change this parameter and press ‘ENTER ’. An yel low l ight wi l l b l ink .

5 . Enter the new, des i red address and press ‘ENTER ’. A yel low l ight wi l l b l ink and the unit wi l l re -boot . Once restar ted, a red l ight wi l l b l ink and then bl ink each t ime motion is detec ted.

Changing the baud rate (Default = 38400)1. Point the IR remote at the sensor.

2 . Press Stop. The sensor wi l l f lash a blue l ight .

3 . Press Power. The sensor wi l l f lash a blue l ight .

4 . Use the number buttons on the remote to enter the current address. ( I f i t ’s address 1 , press 1 . I f i t ’s address 94, press 9 and then 4 . ) I f there are mult iple sensors in the room, this step a l lows you to selec t which sensor you want to conf igure.

5 . Press Enter. The sensor wi l l f lash a blue l ight .

6 . Press the numbers 102.

7 . Press Enter. The sensor wi l l b l ink yel low.

8 . Use the number buttons on the remote to enter the new baud rate.

9 . Press ing Play wi l l f lash the current baud rate sett ing. Ex : 3 blue f lashes = 38400

1 = 9600

2 = 19200

3 = 38400

4 = 76800

TIP: I f you enter the new baud rate incorrec t ly, press Stop and star t over at step 1 .

10. Enter number 1-4 for des i red baud rate.

11 . Press Enter. The sensor wi l l b l ink yel low and resume normal operat ion at se lec ted baud rate.

Using the Fac tor y ResetUse the fac tor y reset to restore sensor parameters to fac tor y defaults and to reset the address to 0 . The fol lowing steps are only appl icable us ing a Universal IR Remote.

1 . Point the Universal IR Remote towards the sensor and press ‘STOP ’. A blue l ight wi l l f lash.

2 . Press ‘POWER ’. Another blue l ight wi l l f lash.

3 . Enter the current address and press ‘ENTER ’. A blue l ight wi l l b l ink .

a . I f the current address is 94 , press the 9 and 4 .

4 . Enter the numbers 1094 to change this parameter and press ‘ENTER ’. A pink l ight wi l l b l ink .

5 . Press ‘PAUSE’. A pink l ight wi l l b l ink . Power c ycle the unit . Af ter star t ing a white l ight wi l l turn on sol id. Use the ‘Sett ing the Sensor Address for the Fi rst Time’ sec t ion to set a new address.

Changing the HysteresisThe hysteres is i s a percentage of the threshold. The hysteres is i s used to create a range of acceptable l ight levels above and below the threshold. This i s so that l ights do not turn on and off with ever y smal l var iat ion in l ight level above and below the threshold.

Example: A large hysteres is (greater than 10%) would make the sensor less sensit ive. A smal l hysteres is ( less than 10%) would make the sensor more sensit ive. A threshold of 100 with a hysteres is of 10% would give you an On value of 90 lux and an O ff value of 110 lux . I f the hysteres is was set too low at say 1% the On/O ff values would be 99 & 101 lux which may cause the l ight to turn On/O ff several t imes before staying On/O ff due to c louds, people pass ing by, exc. . .

The hysteres is might need to be changed depending on local fac tors such as : normal outdoor l ight levels , how sunny or c loudy the sk y tends to be, the t ype of windows in the bui lding, whether the sensor is indoors or outdoors, etc.

I f l ights are too sensit ive to changes in the l ight level , ra is ing the hysteres is might help. I f l ights are not responsive enough to changes in the l ight level , lower ing the hysteres is might help.

Selec t ing the opt imal hysteres is wi l l l ike ly require on-s i te t r ia l and error.

Changing the Light DelayThe l ight delay is the number of seconds the ac t ion is delayed before being tr iggered.

Example: When the l ight level drops below the hysteres is range, the system waits a set amount of seconds before the l ights come on or of f. Used so l ights aren’t unintent ional ly t r iggered by ref lec t ions, c loud cover, exc. . .

The l ight delay feature helps to ensure that l ights do not f l icker on and off with ever y pass ing c loud or other br ief and temporar y changes in l ight level .

The fol lowing steps are only appl icable us ing a Universal IR Remote.

1 . Point the Universal IR Remote towards the sensor and press ‘STOP ’. A blue l ight wi l l f lash.

Changing the M otion S ensit ivit yThe motion sensit iv i t y i s the sensit iv i t y of the motion detec tor. The higher the number, the more motion that wi l l be needed for the sensor to detec t motion. The lower the number, then less motion wi l l be needed for the sensor to detec t motion.

The fac tor y default works under most condit ions. The motion sensit iv i t y might need to be lowered i f there is a motion sensor in an of f ice that would be repeatedly t r ipped by people walk ing past the of f ice door. The motion sensit iv i t y might need to be ra ised i f there is a motion sensor that does not seem to detec t motion when there are occupants in the room.

Changing the ThresholdThe threshold is the l ight level in lux at which the ac t ion is t r iggered.

When the l ight level i s below the threshold, i t wi l l turn the l ights on. When the l ight level i s above the threshold, i t wi l l turn the l ights of f.

The sensor a l lows the threshold to be set for 4 v i r tual button pairs .

1 . Point the Universal IR Remote towards the sensor and press ‘STOP ’. A blue l ight wi l l f lash.

Changing the Vac anc y Delay / Test M o deThe vacanc y delay is the number of minutes that the l ights stay on af ter motion stops.

Vacanc y delay helps prevent l ights f rom turning of f whi le people are in the room.

The fac tor y recommends that the vacanc y delay is not set for less than 15 minutes, unless i t i s a c loset , supply room, or a room where people are a lways moving i f they are in there.

Test Mode can be used to test the sensit iv i t y of the sensor. Us ing Test Mode sets the vacanc y delay to 2 seconds.

Note : When you set the vacanc y delay to ‘0 ’ i t s t i l l shows up as a value of ‘1 ’ when you press the play button to review the value s ince there is no color value for ‘0 ’. Be sure to set a proper value for the vacanc y delay af ter us ing the Test M ode.

App endix I - Vir tual Buttons M o de 0To Touch-Plate control lers , a sensor is an input device, just l ike a control stat ion. Touch-Plate control lers “sees” that each sensor has e ight (8) buttons.

The sensor communicates with the control lers v ia v i r tual button presses. These v i r tual button presses re lease input information to the control ler based on set Thresholds. When the l ight level crosses a set threshold, the control ler ac ts as i f a button was pressed to t r igger the conf igured ac t ion. To disable motion detec t ion the sensor mode must be set to 0 us ing Analog Value AV10 v ia a BACnet f rontend.

App endix I I - Vir tual Buttons M o de 1 (Default)To Touch-Plate control lers , a sensor is an input device, just l ike a control stat ion. Touch-Plate control lers “sees” that each sensor has e ight (8) buttons.

The sensor communicates with the control lers v ia v i r tual button presses. These v i r tual button presses re lease information to the control ler based on set Thresholds. When the l ight level crosses a set threshold, the control ler ac ts as i f a button was pressed to t r igger the conf igured ac t ion.

1. How does the sensor get mounted?

a . The sensor comes with a mounting post , washer, and nut . To insta l l the sensor, make a hole in the cei l ing.

b. Place the washer on top of the cei l ing t i le or other mater ia l .c . Screw the nut onto the mounting post unt i l the sensor is secured t ight ly

against the cei l ing.

2 . How does the sensor get uninsta l led?

a. Unscrew the nut f rom the mounting post .b. Remove the washer.c . Pul l the sensor out of i ts mounted locat ion.

3 . Can I open the sensor?

a . The fac tor y does not recommend that you open the sensor. There are no DIP switches to set ins ide the sensor.

b. The l id and the f resnel lens should remain attached to the base of the sensor.
