For centuries, every year, on the eve of Raksha Bandhan, sisters tie their brothers with Rakhi, i.e. a loving bond ofProtection. But, it must be pondered here how far the

brothers have been successful in fulfilling this bond and howfar the sisters have been successful in tying the same withsuch a pure feeling? From experience, all will say that todaythis festival has become just an opportunity of celebrating littlebit happiness and observing the ritual, otherwise, neither anyonecelebrates it by fulfilling it as a bond nor anyone thinks of anyaspect of protection sincerely.

Not only sisters, but brothers also need protectionWe see that on the day of Raksha Bandhan, little sisters also

tie Rakhi to their little brothers. But it must be pondered howcan such young children have the thought of protection in theirmind? Even matured brothers cannot protect their sisters. Intoday’s time, not only sisters need protection, but brothers alsoneed protection. Moreover, a brother and a sister may be livingmiles away from each other; in that case, the former cannotreach the latter in time on this occasion. A few days ago, itwas reported in newspapers that in Mumbai a servant in theabsence of his master tried to harm the dignity of his master’swife; finding no other way of support, that lady committed suicideby jumping from upstairs. In such a case, how can a brotherreach to protect his sister? Thus, the question arises what isthe real significance of Raksha Bandhan? This Bond is of Dharma, i.e. Dharana or InculcationAs far as the disease, poverty and various forms of calamity

are concerned, the same are the results of human-being’s owndeeds. Until he improves, changes his deeds, makes his naturesweet and divine, there is no alternative of protection. Hence,it is clear that Raksha Bandhan is not any apparent thing, but isa bond of Dharma or Purity. Those who protect dharma areprotected by the dharma. Those who remain pure in their

Raksha Bandhan hasbeen celebrated inBharat over centuries.

According to history, thisfestival is connected with somany mythological events.During the Mughal days, it alsobecame a very historical eventin solving some very tediousproblems. However, when wethink about the presentenvironment all around, peopledo celebrate Raksha Bandhanwith a lot of religious fervour,as it is specially related with themost pious relationship betweena sister and a brother. There aremany, many aspects connectedwith how it is celebrated, as itfalls in the month of Shravanwhen Lord Shiva bestowsboons and blessings on beingpleased with the offering of justa few BelPatra (leaves of BelTree) and a small urn of purewater. We now understand thedeep and close significance ofGod Shiva’s connection withthis great festival at a time ofundeniable iron-agedness of theworld where a very low andnarrow outlook is harboured

towards sisters, and females ingeneral, we know thatIncorporeal God Shivadescends onto the World-Drama stage to emphasize thebeauty of pure vision, attitude, and the power, which gives birthto within human consciousness, ensuring regard towards not justblood-related sisters, but all ofwomankind. When the socialnetwork and community atlarge understand and acceptthe spiritual significance ofRaksha Bandhan, the dailyhorrific crimes against girls andwomen would ceasecompletely, thereby solving abig universal problem which ison the increase year after year.

Dadi Prakash Mani was oneof those great exponents of thisphilosophy who threaded theentire global family ofhumankind in this sacredthread. Her appeal to allbrothers and sisters around theworld, who came in contactwith her, was to realise thatleading a pure life woulddefinitely result in real peaceand happiness for not just this

birth, but many births to come. Her loving drishti and divinetouch, while tying the Rakhi, used to work like a magnet onevery soul. During her lifetime, the number of BKs following aspiritual lifestyle had reachedover a million across the globe. They all belonged to differentreligions, communities andcountries and still continue tospread the message of RakshaBandhan. Till date, even thosefrom the Western countries andthe African sub-continent valuethe spirit of this festival, andmost willingly and lovingly offertheir wrists for the BrahmaKumaris sisters to tie Rakhison, and sweeten their mouthswith special toli (sweet).

After celebrating RakshaBandhan, we follow it up withcelebrations of Shri KrishnaJanamashatami, symbolic of theestablishment of an era full ofinnocence, purity, love, affection, smile and happiness.Every year people celebratethese festivals with a lot ofreligious fervour, whichunfortunately lasts only for afew weeks. It would bebeneficial to adopt the spiritualwisdom and power behind thesefestivals into our daily lives.

The Spiritual Rakhis need tobe tied on the wrists ofbrothers, and even sisters, as itcarries the message of how todiscipline and enhance young

minds. Youth age is such that iftheir energies are notsuppressed but guided properlytowards positive and creativeactivities, they can definitelybring heaven onto earth… Weare regularly jolted by the newsof how innocent children andwomen are being molested, tortured, and sometimes evenburned alive or killed. Ratherthan aggravate hearts by onlytalking about these situations, itis essential that mindsets aretransformed and spiritual valuesinculcated and strengthenedwith the help of courses inschools, and if possible, even incolleges. At tender andvulnerable ages, if the youngminds are given purpose, properguidance with loving care andrespect, and made aware of ourpure relationship betweensisters and brothers as childrenof God, the violence againstyoung children and adults canbe eradicated.

As we learn from the media, there is a silent spread ofdifferent kinds of addictionswithin society which ruin youngminds to the extent that they arenot able to judge between rightand wrong. Impulse thinkingtakes over and brings ontemporary gratification, but littledo people realise that their liveswill be ruined ultimately. Everyyoung man and woman aspires

for a great, sustainable future, which is very good, but onlyattainable with the support ofspirituality and deep connectionwith the Supreme.

On this holy festival, let themessage: ‘May you be holyand happy forever!’ reach theyoung community, in particular,to enable them to think beyondthe present, and trulyconceptualise a future for theself as well as for society atlarge. May the conscience ofour elders, youth and childrenawaken to the need of usheringin a glorious future for one andall! That would undoubtedly bethe real celebration of RakshaBandhan.

The Supreme Father ofHumanity has beenemphasising again and againfor over 77 years theimportance of leading a life ofpurity for the dawn of GoldenAge of the world. When welive by these principles, we cancelebrate the memorial of ourmuch-loved festival,Janamashtami, where ShriKrishna’s life symbolisesexcellence, beauty, virtues andtruth. His pure innocence is notbased on ignorance but thatbased on proper wisdom andsattvick karma in life. So letus aim to re-educate ourchildren and the masses, aboutthe true significance of Indian

festivals.Let us understand the great

treasures of virtues andwisdom with proper research, and then propagate the samethrough modern mediachannels.

Let us work towardsrevolutionising our future so thatwe can assure everyone quiteemphatically that ‘Ache dinaane wale hain…’

For the benefit of ourreaders, we wish to share

some inspirations ofspiritual Gyan so that theymay enjoy and imbibe thesame during the powerful

month of August:The festival of Rakhibegins at this mostauspicious confluenceage. It is later celebratedwhen the path of devotionbegins. This is called aneternal festival. You haveto tell everyone to have arakhi tied for becomingpure. Establishment of thepure world takes placethrough Brahma. This iswhy the tying of rakhi tobecome pure is celebrated. This festival should beconsidered to be thegreatest.

Do you know your power ofsilence very well? Or, doyou forget its importancebecause you have

received many otherpowers? Since atomicpower is able to carry outelevated tasks throughscience, then what can thepower of the soul (atma),the power of God, not do?Can you not transform thetamoguni (impure)elements through yourpure stage? Can you notgain victory over adversecircumstances with yourown original stage?Order your power totolerate to make a tasksuccessful and then seehow success is alreadyguaranteed! However, instead of ordering it, whatdo you do? Instead ofordering it, you becomeafraid of it. “How will I beable to tolerate this? Howwill I be able to face this? Will I be able to do this ornot?” When you have thistype of fear, you are unableto order this power.Become fearless of being aconqueror of Maya.Do all of you move alongwhilst constantlyconsidering yourselves tobe God’s companions, andconstantly experience, “Ieat with You, I sit withYou”? Do you consideryourselves to be combinedwith the Father? Never

think that you are alone.Constantly keep yourCompanion with you andyou will remain constantlyhappy; you will dance inhappiness day and nightwhilst creating your ownfuture and that of others. When you consideryourself to be alone, Maya(negativity) comes to you.No one else can find sucha Companion as the OneGod you have found.

When you constantly use thespeciality that you havereceived according to theDrama you will also beable to see the speciality ofothers. It is because you donot look at the speciality, but look at other things, that there is defeat. Keepeach one’s speciality inyour awareness. Befaithful with one anotherand the motives andintentions of others willchange. When someone is sayingsomething defamatory, then, instead of supportingthat one, transform themotive behind the meaningof the words. This practiceis needed, otherwise, whenone hears something aboutsomeone from another, thethird person hearssomething from the second

person, then those wastefulthings spread into theatmosphere due to whichthe atmosphere is not ableto be powerful. Therefore, always have good wishesand benevolent feelings foreveryone.Let everyone just see soulsswinging in happiness. Letthere be spirituality inevery word. According tothe time, your stage shouldalso be very elevated. Themeaning of the ascendingstage is to go beyond whatyou were like before andcontinue to move ahead. When it is a particularseason, you pay specialattention according to theseason to remaining safefrom it. When it is raining, you will pay the attentionof keeping an umbrella ora raincoat with you. Whenit is cold, you will wearwarm clothes. Similarly, atthe present time, Maya iscarrying out the specialtask of putting a curtain ofnegative feelings andintentions on the mind andintellect. Therefore, adoptsome special means ofsafety. The easiest methodfor this is to become stablein the point form.

I feel myself a multi-million-fold fortunate soul to havereceived divine motherly

sustenance from DadiPrakashmani ji which helped meto fix my goal in life. It was ourfortune that many times Dadi Jistepped in our house with herlotus steps and purified it.Whenever Dadi Ji came to ourhouse, she would always ask“Asha, whose Asha (Hope) areyou?” I would always answer,“Dadi Ji, I am Shiv Baba’sAsha.” Dadi Ji was destined tohelp me taking leave from mylokik father.

Dadi Ji taught me how to doevery service and helped me to

excel in it. From explainingGodly Knowledge in spiritualexhibitions to organise bigprogrammes, she taught meeverything. It was my greatfortune that I got a chance to doservice with Dadi Ji. Shebelieved that a BK teacher mustbe royal, detached fromeveryone, should love Baba’sMurli, and must be accurate andpunctual. Dadi Ji was alwaysinterested in teachers’ training. She had a great wish in her mindthat somehow these Kumarisbecome free from bondages ofold world and surrenderthemselves completely to Baba.Whenever Dadi had a discussion

with kumaris, she would alwaysask, “What all are you beingtaught?” She would say thatbesides Murli class and givinglectures, Kumaris must alsolearn worldly chores so that theyare not dependent on anyone.

Dadi Ji had unbreakable andunlimited love with Baba. Thus,I liked getting drishti (spiritualgaze) from Dadi very much. Iwould say, “Dadi, I don’t needany gift; just give me drishti.”Therefore, she would givedrishti with great love andaffection. Dadi had a very broadand deep thinking. She asked,“Asha, are you a devotee?” Shemeant that taking drishti is alsoa ritual performed in devotionpath. She advised us to becomeknowledgefull soul.

Once we were doing yogbhatti. At the end of bhatti, every sister would go one by onein front of Dadi and Dadi wouldhug her. Due to my body-consciousness, I would be thelast one to go. I went and sat infront of her. Dadi gave medrishti and put her head in mylap. All my astonished friendswould comment, “What a great

luck you have that such a greatDadi put her head in your lap?”

Once there was a program inDelhi. I wore an imported sareeand came out. Dadi Ji saw mefrom top to bottom and asked,“What is your today’s program?”I said, “Dadi Ji, I have to receivepeople at the reception.” Dadi Jisaid, “Asha, you are a BrahmaKumari and a Brahma Kumaridoes not wear a saree like this.”Dadi Ji’s words had such a greatimpact on me that since then, Inever wore an imported saree.

Like Brahma Baba, Dadi wasalso like a ‘Gardener’ ofMadhuban, i.e. forest of honey. She was so much concerned foreach and every inmate ofMadhuban. One day, I washaving lunch with Dadi Ji.Suddenly, someone came andtold her that one thousandmangoes had come fromsomewhere. Hearing this, I feltso happy. However, before Icould say something, Dadi Ji said,“Asha, have you ever thoughtthat I must also send somethingto my great Madhuban home?”Sis. Munni confirmed that shealways brought, but Dadi said,“She does, but not for everyone”.I replied to Dadi that this wasindeed true. Thus, being agenerous and large-hearted soul,Dadi taught me how to serve ourgreat Yagya and the divinefamily.

Q. Didi, how did you joinBrahma Kumaris

organization?Ans. We were residing inZambia in Africa in 1974 whenB.K. Sister Vedanti went thereon Godly service. Her spiritualdiscourse had a deep impact onme and I became a sincerefollower. However, it was duringour visit to Madhuban that year, incidentally the maiden visit by

any overseas B.K. followerswhen I came in contact withDadi Prakashmani. Theelevated environment ofMadhuban left indelible marks onevery aspect of my life. The nextyear, my father decided to cometo India and I expressed mydesire of being a BrahmaKumari and serving here atMadhuban. It was Dadi Prakashmani who

very lovingly, but accurately triedto find out the real motive of mysignificant decision of life. Whenshe was convinced that I haddeep rooted desire of achievingspiritual goals by dedicating mylife to the service of Shiv Baba, she blessed me. The nextmorning after the Murli class, she announced that I had decidedto surrender myself to the GodlyService. Again, I was the firstsister to get surrendered formallyto Godly Service at Madhuban. You can understand it turned outto be a festive occasion at

Madhuban. After that Dadi Ji not only

looked after me as the mostcaring and loving mother but alsoas an intimate friend and guidingteacher. She had her own wayof teaching. Initially, I could notadjust to the food here, but whenDadi learnt that I had not beentaking the food, she invited meas her guest for lunch andserved me all dishes of my taste. She also added that in future, Iwould take my meals with her.In no time, I realized my mistakeand started taking the normalfood being served to otherbrothers and sisters.Q. What inspiration did you

get from Dadi ji?Ans. I think it will take me

many lives to forget the motherlyand divine affection that Dadi Jishowered upon me. I recall an

incident when during ameditational class, amongst thegroup there was a person withsome psychological problem andwho had been brought there byhis family with the hope of curethrough spiritual discourse.During one such session, theman gazed at me and startedfollowing me. Terrified as I was,I ran to escape the person, buthe continued to follow. Soon abrother came my way andhelped me. But I was badlyshaken and started crying. Dadijilearnt about the unfortunateincident. She took me in her lap, loved me like a mother andassured me that nothing wrongcould happen to me. The persondid not have the courage evento touch me since I was the truedaughter of God Shiva, i.e. ShivBaba. Her benevolent hand onmy head and her soothing wordshad the most consoling impacton me.Q. Didi, what was Dadi ji’spersonal spiritual effort?Ans. While staying at the

Pandav Bhawan, my room wasjust above that of Dadiji’s roomso that every time I left or wentto my room, I had to go throughher room. Naturally, I met hervery often and that gave me thespiritual experience andblessings. As such we wouldalso listen to Dadiji reading theMurli and share many of her

experiences with Baba.Once she equated the Dadi’

insistence of Baba with theMahabharata episode ofKrishna leaving to have a battlewith Kansa. As Radha had laidherself on Krishna way, dissuading him from going, Dadijialso laid herself on Baba’s wayasking him to stay there in thatbuilding for the night. It was herdedication that she ultimatelywon and Baba promised toaccept her request.

On another occasion, she toldus how she and Dadi Seetu hadto face hostile situation onaccount of a public protestagainst the organization. Whenthey failed to control and werelocked inside the centre andwere unable to procure even theessential provisions, Dadiji wroteto Baba asking for help. Theresponse came in a two wordmessage from Baba ‘NothingNew’. No doubt Baba later onsent Jagdish Bhai to resolve theissue, but Baba’s message madethem learn to solve theirproblems in their own way andnot depend on the external help.

Another thing that impressedme about Dadiji was the fact thatshe met every party or groupvisiting Madhuban and askingabout their comfort of food andstay. She would pay due respectto each member of the party. She was so careful about others’

honour that in the presence ofvisitors, she would not addressthe inmates with their first namebut would respectfully addressthem as ‘Sister Shielu’ or ‘SisterUsha’.

Q. Dadi ji remained ChiefAdministrative Head for 38

years. What were herspecialties because of which

this Godly knowledge hasspread to every nook and

corner of the world?Ans. As a leader of the

Yagya, Dadiji never thought thatshe was superior to others.Instead, she had love andrespect for all, howsoever smallor insignificant one’s role mightbe. That is why she could leadpeople with her and peopleacross the world followed herwords with more love anddevotion than with a sense ofassigned duty. She had also thehabit of checking thoroughlybefore implementing any idea orplan.

I clearly remember when Istarted the Self-ManagementCourse, she asked me to explainevery little bit of the coursebefore it was taken to the class-room. After having seen theacademic side of my course shejust said, “Now I will teach youShiv Baba’s ManagementCourse.” She had developed aninborn taste in the managementand would ask me to give the

The World Renewal, August 2014 11

tapes of my lessons, so that she could find outwhether some changes or corrections wereneeded in them. She would listen to the tapesduring her journey time and would make it apoint to give her opinion when she came back.Believe me, for me that has been real learningabout the Self-management. I have not onlypolished my style and content but Dadiji’sguidance opened new vistas of learning andteaching before me. How thankful I feel to hertoday!

I must say her best quality was not leadingfrom the front, but taking everyone along withher.Q. How was Dadi ji’s last Karmateet state

(state of completion and perfection)?Ans. The last few months of Dadiji’s worldly

life had been agonizing from the health pointof view. We thought that she might be passingthrough a very painful aspect of life, but werepleasantly surprised that she responded to thevisits of well-wishers like a perfectly normalperson. She would open her eyes in the mostalert manner and respond to the questions in afully awake condition of mind. Sister Munniwas surprised when she visited Dadiji in thehospital and when to her question ‘Dadiji howare you?’ she responded smilingly “Better thanyou.” Her face or gestures never showed anypain, sorrow or suffering. She always seemedto be in a deep meditative posture. If we askedher anything, her state was so elevated thather answers were short and very accurate tothe point.

Q. What message did Dadi’s life give tothe entire world?

A. The main slogan or motto of Dadi ji’s lifewas – Be an instrument, be egoless and bepure. Her nature was as pure as river Ganga.

DDDDDADI PRAKASHMANIADI PRAKASHMANIADI PRAKASHMANIADI PRAKASHMANIADI PRAKASHMANI– B.K. Sapna, (ORC) Delhi

O sweetest Dadi Maa,You are the Queen of flowers. You are the Ganges of knowledge,An incarnation of Virtues and Powers.

Your spiritual Life gives us inspiration,For you were stable in every situation.Your divine thoughts are so strong; You’re Baba’s voice; He sings your song.

That your unique and divine attraction! We like your teachings and ultimate perfection. So beautiful is your divine history,Thou art Angel of earth and the story of victory.

Your divine touch and gaze still we feel,Like a divine angel, their wounds you heal.O God’s true daughter and prime messenger,Today, we revere you and remember!!

Whenever there was a meeting of BK teachers, she would never address the gathering saying “Thisis my opinion”, “I want this”, “I said this” etc. Instead, the emphasis would be on ‘Baba likes this’. Dadiwas untouched with the feelings of ‘I’ and ‘my’.The feeling of being instrumental, egoless and purenature was Dadi’s slogan and so was her practicallife. The only message which she wanted to give tothe entire world through her life was that God Shiva’severy child must follow Him in word and spirit andwithout the slightest ego or obligation. Thus, the realtribute to Dadi ji would be to follow her in herfootsteps.

12 The World Renewal, August 2014

As a new student of theBrahma Kumarisinstitution, my initial

visits to Mount Abu wereprimarily to celebrate thefestival of Raksha Bandhan.Whether you resonate with thespiritual significance of Rakhi:‘the Bond of Protection’, orare just becoming aware of it,may I say that those days ofexperiencing the festival atPandav Bhawan Campus wereworth their weight in diamonds!

The delightful monsoonweather of Mt Abu; thenurturing atmosphere of deepmeditation, the coming togetherof spiritual family to re-committhemselves to determinedthoughts of inner transformation;the loving patience of the Dadisas they sat for hours greetingeach soul, applying the tilak ofself-awareness and tying thespiritual Rakhi on each wristwhile exchanging drishti(spiritual vision of love andpower) on behalf of the SupremeProtector, Shiv Baba… I don’tthink I can capture it completelyon paper but do hope you will

feel the vibrations ofunconditional love, supportand oneness that I absorbedevery year, and continue tofeel every August.

Over a couple of decades, Icontinued to see how the sacredrelationships between ourbeloved Divine Companion andus, and within the spiritual familyacross more than 137 countries, live on as a result of our faith inpure, elevated consciousnessand lifestyle.

My fondest memories of myfirst trip is of Dadi Prakashmani, who in just a couple of meetings, made my family feel that webelonged to God and this spiritualfamily in the most natural, binding way. Dadi’s uninhibitedand loving personality, herprecise manner of sharingBaba’s Murlis, her unimposingyet comforting presence weresome of the qualities thatmotivated us to aim for the near-impossible goal of being God’sworthy instruments, as she wasand still is…

At the time, my mother andher daughters were new pilgrims

on the path of spirituality, facinglack of support and ridicule fromfamily and friends, but lookingat Dadi, I personallyunderstood what it meant tolive without insecurity ordoubt. These were completelynon-existent in Dadi’s persona!Without any profound talk or‘sermon’, Dadi was able to putus at ease and encourage us notto live in ‘fear’. I don’t knowhow she or the land ofMadhuban did it, but I wouldreturn from each trip valuingspiritual lifestyle, feeling moreconfident about imbibing it, andcreating self-respect based ontruth, love and wisdom.

Our Dadis, seniors and theBrahma Kumaris’ teachingshave never instructed us to defyor disrespect society, tradition orold belief systems; however theyhave helped us realize that oneshould not follow rituals orsocietal rules out of fear fordispleasing our elders or themajority or the Almighty. Ormore significantly, not adherehelplessly to what a male-dominated society sees ‘proper’for a female to do with hereducation, body, lifestyle, andinheritance etc. etc. As youngindividuals in a competitive, unsafe, and volatile world,‘self-doubt’, ‘anxiety’,‘distrust’, ‘fear of rejectionor not fitting in’ can becomesecond nature if we are not

An Experience

careful. It is a smart move to imbibe the symbolic teachingsof Raksha Bandhan, so that we are more aware of ourspiritual potential, and can charter life towards stability andfulfillment.

1) Living with the awareness and attitude of beingseparate from the physical accessories of name, education, status and wealth, and to stabilize more in theconsciousness of being an eternal living energy(Soul),

2) Design a strong, transparent relationship withthe Divine, the Supreme, our constant Companion andGuide. These realizations have personally aided mepersonally in developing: – a more stable mind; a clearerintellect; a heart that trusts others and the drama of life butis not gullible; will-power to succeed in whatever I strivefor, but not sacrifice relationships or values in the bargain;the sense to perform actions that benefit myself and others, and reap attainments forever; and a loving partnership withGod. He alone could have awakened me to the reality of‘I, the soul’ being far more important and powerful thanmy physical, genetic, and intellectual blue-print.

The love of God has taught me how to live enthusiastically, devoid of arrogance or carelessness. He has convincedme that a positive, elevated attitude and actions will alwayssafeguard me from ill-effects. He continues to empowerme so that I am not overly-dependent on another humanbeing or a career or wealth to secure my happiness, self-worth and role in life. He doesn’t want me to beg or barterfor the above from even Himself, the Almighty!

With such a Spiritual Light House guiding my life, wheredo I have the time or space to feel unprotected, unlovedand un-sustained?! I find it amazing that the Cycle of Timeshould have brought together Raksha Bandhan and theascent of Dadi Prakashmani, ‘Jewel of Light’ to her nextelevated role (25th August) within the same month! Joinme in honouring the festival and commemorating the divineascent of Dadiji, by taking time for introspection andassessing one’s spiritual journey. Let’s polish ourselves, and spread the light of goodness, just like our beloved Dadidid.

Understand Others’love for You

While a man was polishing hisnew car, his 6 year old son pickedup a stone and scratched lines onthe side of the car. In anger, the mantook the child’s hand and hit it manytimes; not realizing he was using awrench. At the hospital, the childlost all his fingers due to multiplefractures. When the child saw hisfather.....with painful eyes he asked,‘Dad when will my fingers growback?’ The man was so hurt andspeechless; he went back to his carand kicked it a lot of times.Devastated by his ownactions.......sitting in front of that carhe looked at the scratches; thechild had written ‘LOVE YOU DAD’.The next day that man committedsuicide. Anger and Love have nolimits; choose the latter to have abeautiful, lovely life..... Things areto be used and people are to beloved. But the problem in today’sworld is that, people are used andthings are loved.... In this year, let’s be careful to keep this thoughtin mind: Things are to be used, butpeople are to be loved. Watch yourthoughts; they become words.Watch your words; they becomeactions. Watch your actions; theybecome habits. Watch your habitsthey become character; watch yourcharacter; it becomes your destiny. If you follow these tips, you mightchange someone’s life.

Do you know the relationshipbetween your two eyes? They blinktogether, move together, crytogether, see things together andsleep together. Even though theynever see each other. Brotherhoodshould be just like that! Life is vanitywithout our loved ones.

It is these five vices whichmake human beings fallfrom their elevated state and

their actions become corrupted. Now the Father sits and explainshow to reform one’s actions, andmake them elevated. The Fathersays that you will attain constanthappiness – you will becomeever-healthy, ever-happy, andwill attain the facility of constanthappiness in life – throughelevated actions. It is notpossible to attain happinesswithout elevated actions. Thatpurpose will not be servedmerely by having a desire forpeace and happiness. One mustknow the method, the yukti.

Today in the world people areseeking different methods forworld peace; and they try a lotto attain many facilities forhappiness. However, inpractice, there is no gain. Today, science has reached so far andso high! They have reached themoon and the stars. Despitereaching so high, however, lifeis going down.

What is the foundation forelevating our life? The

THE CAUSE OF HUMANDOWNFALL IS THE FIVE VICES

foundation is purity. First purity, then peace and prosperity follow. There is no peace and prosperitywithout purity. Actions becomeelevated only through purity. Ifactions are not elevated, howcan we enjoy elevated fruit? How can we reap good fruit ifactions are not right? Wereceive fruit from karma. Wehave the desire to eat fruit, butwhere is it to come from? Now,we should sow the seed for it.

This is a battlefield. It ismentioned in the Gita that this isa battlefield. This is known asthe field of actions: whatever wesow, we reap. However, wemust have the right knowledge

of what to do and what not todo.

We Become Elevatedthrough Elevated Actions.

Everyone knows that one hasto speak the truth, never tell lies, never deceive anyone, and neverdo sinful actions. This is commoninformation that we all know. Butwe must also know what truthis. It is right that we must speakthe truth, but what is truth? Thetruth is to know who I am. Weare souls, and our karmas[actions] have connection withsoul. Through these karmas, webecome elevated, and these arethe cause of our downfall also.So we should have an accurateknowledge of all these aspects. To understand the soul, and God,the Creator; and to know thesecrets of karma, is calledknowing the truth. Nobody canfollow the path of truth unlessone knows all these aspects.

Some think that they don’tgive sorrow to anyone, and havenever deceived anyone, so theybelieve themselves to be true. However, this is wrong, becauseas long as man has the five vicesin him, he continues to commitsins. There is no one in theworld, who doesn’t have vicesin him. Everyone has vices; butpoor ones don’t know what viceis. They think: ‘How anythingcan be done without anger! Howcan the world expand withoutsex lust! How can children be

sustained without attachment!’ Somepeople think that the world cannotcontinue to move without these fivevices.

This is wrong. Without these vices, our world had been ever-happy. It wasknown as Heaven. Was there anyonevicious in Heaven? No. Ourancestors, Shri Lakshmi and ShriNarayan, the residents of Heaven, were they vicious? No. If they hadvices in them, why would their picturesbe worshipped today? What does onesays when one goes to the Lakshmi-Narayan temple? ‘You are completelyvirtuous...’ One says this. Or does onesay, ‘You are completely vicious...’?

Why does one say that he or she isvice-less? There is a contrast betweenthe vicious, and vice-less. In front ofthe deities, we say for ourselves thatwe are vicious, sinners, degraded, deceitful; and that you (gods andgoddesses) are completely vice-less,complete in all virtues ... We say this. Why do we say this? Definitely thereis a difference. Vice-less means beingfree from vices, i.e. no vices at all.The Golden Age is known as theviceless world. That world of oursflourished with this power, the powerof being viceless or power of purity.Vice is not a power. We fell becauseof vice.

We have to understand how toelevate this world; what we should dofor this. This is known as knowing thetruth.

FORFORFORFORFORGIVE GIVE GIVE GIVE GIVE TTTTTO FORO FORO FORO FORO FORGETGETGETGETGETA key principle to remain light and stable in

relationships is – forgive and forget – it’s a well-known principle – one that we sometimes finddifficult to practise. It can be modified to forgiveto forget. Sometimes we spend many years withso much bitterness inside us for a particularperson, with an inner violence of wanting to makethe other pay (emotions of revenge), the one whohas supposedly hurt you. If you don’t strike backimmediately, you at least want to keep this guiltcard in your pocket, to be pulled out at a later date:“Oh yes, well what about the time when you....”We keep this bitterness inside us because wehaven’t forgiven. It does not resolve thesituation; the only thing it does is increaseour pain, makes us heavy and does not letus remain in peace. So the key is that if wedo not forgive, we cannot forget. Whensomeone has offended or insulted us, the last thingwe want to do is to let it go. And yet, if our desire isto have a healthy, lasting relationship, that isexactly what we’ve got to do.

Sometimes, when it is a question of a brokenrelationship, it is not only a matter of forgiving theother, but of forgiving yourself for having allowedyourself to enter that experience. It was you thattook the step to allow that experience to be enteredinto. If you hadn’t taken that step, you wouldn’thave had that experience. You accepted thatchallenge, that relationship, and what mighthappen in it – you were aware of the possibilitieswhen you entered in the relationship. So not onlydo you have to learn to forgive the other, butalso to forgive yourself in such situations.Only then will you be able to forget.

We are all in the fieldof spiritual effort-making. God, the

Supreme, is teaching us manyintrinsic spiritual truths and theirpractical applications. Heteaches us as to how we shouldstrike a balance betweenknowledge and virtues, karmaand meditation, soul-consciousness and body-consciousness, wisdom andfeelings etc. More importantly,He also teaches us how tomaintain a steady balance ofkarma and yoga to becomekarma-yogis. Practice of soul-consciousness should go hand inhand with the practice ofmeditation. We must createspecial time to practise soul-consciousness. It is theprecondition for theremembrance of the Supremeand this aspect has beenreinforced by Him everyday inHis Godly versions, Murlis. However, it is widely observedthat the effort to combine karmawith yoga is not given theimportance it deserves. If ouraim is to achieve ‘karmateet’stage, i.e. beyond the state of the

consequence of Karma, it ispredominantly important to havethe awareness of being a soulwhile performing our worldlyaffairs. If we constantly bringabout a wave of intense effortsin our own life, then we can alsotrigger waves of intense effortsin others. We must bring aboutzeal and enthusiasm in others. We should see that we do notcome under the influence ofthose who do not make efforts, but instead we must motivateand empower them. The Lordwants all of us to intensify theeffort-making because He lovesall the intense effort-makers. Hehas promised that those, whomaintain courage, will definitelyreceive help. It is necessary forus to have the intense desire ‘Idefinitely have to become this.I have to do this’. When aproblem or an adverse situationcomes up, we should not slackenour efforts. We must reviewour endeavour duringAmritvela, i.e. Nectar Time, and reinforce our efforts. Letus take this chance whilefocusing on the different aspectsof intense effort making as

desired by the Supreme Soul,God Shiva which are brieflyshared with the esteemedreaders.

1. We must takeimmediate action to putinto practice whateverShrimat is given by theSupreme from time totime: His directions areconveyed to us in the formof orders, indications, guidance and advice. WhatHe expects us is to give apositive responseimmediately with a sincereintention to implement thosedirections. It is not that wekeep on listening to Hissermons as a routine affairand not taking any initiativeto implement thosedirections. Our inactionturns out to be disrespect tothe Supreme Teacher andPreceptor.

2. The Lord wants us to enjoyan obstacle-free life. Wemust avoid waste in thoughts, words, deeds andrelationships. We must giveattention to see that wepersonally lead an obstacle-free life while not creatingany obstacles for others.Thoughts form the basis formy words and actions and sothe more I pay attention tomake my thoughts positive, the more positive impact itwill have on my words,

deeds and relationships. Wecan particularly notice thatthoughts of anger, ego, hatred,ill-will, jealousy fear etc., isthe force that pollutes ourMinds. When our mind iscaught up with negativityof any kind, we cannotfocus on anythingpositive. We need to lookat positive aspect in thesituation. In this way, anobstacle outside can beconverted into an opportunityor a challenge or a learningexperience. It all depends onus.

3. He wants us to look insidehonestly and sincerely tounderstand what theweaknesses are that wehave, which are creatinghurdles in our spiritualprogress. Similarly, we canalso honestly review ourintentions and try tounderstand what the virtuesare that we need to imbibein our life. This should be anongoing programme whichshould form a part of ourintense effort- makingprocess until we reach thekarmateet stage.

4. God wants us to empowerour attitude – vritti – andcreate powerful vibrationswhich should spread far andwide so that those who comeunder the influence of such

vibrations will also be inspiredto change their attitude.Preaching and speaking isnot going to work as fastas the vibrations can tochange the mindset andattitude of the people. Oursoul-conscious attitudeshould be empowered withthe remembrance of theSupreme Soul. We shouldsee ourselves as World-Transformers and radiatespiritual rays of light andmight to others and spreadthe power of peace andhappiness in the world. Wemust give all the burdens tothe Lord and be happy at alltimes. It is the time to givesakash – powerfulvibrations of purity and peaceto the world to hasten theprocess of transformation. 5. Unexpectedly anythingcan happen to this worldor even in our own life. Therefore, we should beever-ready to face them. Weshould have the intoxicationand enthusiasm to reveal Godthrough our features andcharacter. We are able tomarch forward in the path ofeffort-making thanks toGod’s love and cooperation. So, it is time to convey theGodly message to each and

every soul. God has Himselfmade us instruments tospread the message of truthand love. All we need is tohave a loving and faithfulintellect, to be honest, humbleand trustworthy. If we havepure love and becomeworthy, then we will be ableto reveal God and His divinemessage.6.We should watch ourthoughts, words and actions. When a thought or word oraction goes against theshrimat – Godly code ofconduct, it becomes a sin.We must use the power ofrealization to discriminatebetween right and wrong, virtue and sin, truth andfalsehood. Unless we realizeour mistakes and follies, wewill not be able to transformour life. We should seethat our mistakes ormisdeeds must never berepeated again. We mustexercise the power ofrealization constantly and usethe virtue of determination sothat we do not becomecareless in our efforts. Thenwe will be able to win overall the obstacles that comeour way in our spiritual path. So, attention please. It is timefor intense effort-making.

There is no substitute for hard work. – Thomas Edison

I was an atheist till the ageof 30 years, even though myparents were Hindus and

they believed in the existence ofGod. They used to worship fivedeities – Ganesh, Devi,Shaligram or Shiva, Vishnu andSurya (Panchayan Devata). My parents suggested me toworship our five deities at thetime when my father was notat home. I followed their adviceand used to worship only toobey them because I had nointerest in it as I didn’t believein God or the deities. I believedthat nature and science areeverything. There is nothingexcept the things given by thenature and the discovery ofscience. The natural thingswhich I see around me are theonly universal facts and truths. The God, Deities and Religionare nothing more than the fearand terror created by clever andselfish human beings for theirpersonal gains. Everythingshould be viewed and reviewedon scientific logic, cause andeffect.

However, after the age of 30,

I began to question my atheistbeliefs and thoughts. Perhapsit was an important turningpoint in my life. I reviewed andrethought on my atheist beliefsand made the followingobservations:

Is nature everything?Who is the creator ofnature? Does God reallyexist? Doesn’t religion haveany meaning andsignificance? If it is so, whymajority of the worldpopulation is in favour ofreligion and believe in theexistence of God? Sciencehas made remarkablecontribution to the welfare andthe luxurious life of the humanbeings. But, is scienceeverything? If it is so, whyscience is unable to keephuman beings alive forever?Up till date science has notbeen able to check humanbeings from dying. There mustbe an invisible power tomanage and control the wholeuniverse (including the natureand science). Finally, Iconcluded that such invisible

power must be the IncorporealSupreme Being, who is knownby different names as God,Allah, Ishwar etc.

On this background, I had mytransformation from atheism totheism. From being a firmatheist, I turned to be a believerin spirituality and existence ofGod.

So far as my transformationfrom non-vegetarian tovegetarian life is concerned, Iam greatly indebted to BrahmaKumaris Organisation.

Before not more than 10years, I was a non-vegetarian.I couldn’t imagine being avegetarian. One day, in theyear 2006 I was with one of myfriends – Mr. Raj KumarKhadka at my home-villageLalbandi, Sarlahi. He requestedme to accompany him to asmall one-storeyed BrahmaKumari centre. Inside the hall, some people (men and women)were sitting on the floor. Weboth also had our seats on thefloor. Soon, the hall waspacked. Some people werestanding at the doorstep andoutside the hall.

In the meantime, one sisterclad white dress entered intothe hall and took her seat (onSandali). She was BrahmaKumari Sister Prabha. Theannouncer announced thebeginning of the program and Icame to know that it was the

WHAT ARE THOUGHTVIBRATIONS?

The word ‘atmosphere’ has two meanings. Onerefers to the physical air around us and the otherto the more subtle effect that thought vibrationsare created in a particular space. No one candeny that the atmosphere of a crowded restaurantis different from that of a temple. This is mainlybecause of the effect of different types of thoughtsand feelings in that space. Even someone deafand blind would have the ability to pick up thedifference. Sound vibrations are invisible but theirimpact isn’t; a pneumatic drill or a jet breaking thesound barrier jolt both our minds (non-physicaleffect) and the walls of our houses (physical effect).Thought vibrations can’t be seen but their non-physical as well as physical impact is even morepowerful and influential. The panic that peoplegenerate during a stampede or an earthquake andthe euphoria (absolute joy) of victory in a WorldCup Cricket final game are examples of howthoughts create an atmosphere.

On a subtler level, many of us have theexperience of basic telepathy – ‘I was just thinkingof you and you called’. Thoughts connectindividuals over large distances. Doctors inform usthat over 90% of the physical body’s illnesses havea psychosomatic (mental) origin i.e. they are adirect or indirect result of our state of mind. Thatmakes the human body the prime example of howthoughts affect matter.

Since the world is made up of the collective, personal worlds of all individuals, it’s easy to seehow the international political, economic and socialatmosphere is nothing more than the collectiveeffects of all our thoughts.

This program motivated us to knowfurther more about spiritual knowledgeimparted by Brahma Kumaris. We wereencouraged to participate in the 7-dayRajyoga course. Thereafter, we beganto listen to the Godly Versions known asFlute of Knowledge (Gyan Murli). Tillthen, I had decided to become avegetarian. The interesting andremarkable thing was that BrahmaKumari sisters didn’t advise me tobecome a vegetarian, but I myselfdecided to follow vegetarianism. I thinkthat it happened due to the power ofspiritual knowledge.Thereafter, with regard to non-vegetarianism, the following perce-ption was developed in my mind –

“There is no basic difference in thebody structure (physical appearance) ofhuman beings and animals. Both have ahead, a mouth, two ears, two eyes, a nose, same red blood; same body systems(digestive, blood circulatory, muscular, skeleton, respiratory, nervous, glandularand reproductive). So it will be inhumanto kill the animals and eat their flesh. They should also be given their right tolive in this world.”

Every one in this worldaspires to have aperfect, prosperous,

peaceful life. Spirituality pavesthe way to a stable, simple, satisfied life. Spirituality dealswith the mind and a Rajyogilearns to master his/her mindthrough different methods.According to modern science, our Vedic scriptures, scientists, rishis, Bhagwad Geeta;everyone talks of importance ofsatwik (ontological) food.Satwik food has beneficialeffect on our mind and body.Mahatma Gandhiji, AlbertEinstein, Narender Modi are afew great personalities whowere/are pure vegetarians.

Therefore, satwik food is oneway how a Rajyogi can sootheand quieten him thought as wellas calm down his mind. Satwikfood habits increase our physicaland mental vitality making iteasier to experience clarity, lightness and peace of mind. Asis famously said:

There are also a number ofsayings extolling the benefits of

vegetarian. For example, AHealthy mind in a Healthybody, As the food, so themind. You are, what you eat.

It is said that brain chemicals(Serotonin, dopamine, acetylcholine) influence the waywe think, feel and behave andthey are triggered by what weeat. Regular use of caffeine, alcohol and certain drugs showstheir harmful effects on thebehaviour of a person, so onecan understand how food canaffect our personality.

Fruits and vegetables are amajor source of nutrition andinfluence our body-system withpositive energy and also have ahigher vibration aura than animalproduct. Spiritual people believein AURAS. Kirilian photographyshows us that a force fieldremains around dead oramputated tissue of an animal. It is said that you adopt thatanimal aura when you eat a deadanimal.

Meat-eating is a sign ofspiritual ignorance and keeps oneaway from developing

compassion and mercy towardsfellow beings. According toLaw of Karma – whatever painwe cause to others, we get backthe same. When animals areslaughtered, fear and aggressionhormones are shot into their cellsand remain there for long. Thus, meat eating creates negativeemotions which impairs oureffective personality.

Non-Vegetarian foods carryexcessive amount of proteinwhich is dangerous. The primedanger being that uric acidattacks kidneys, breaking downthe kidney cells called nephronsresulting in condition is calledNephritis. Excessive intake offats can result in having a highlevel of cholesterol leading toheart attacks, blood pressureetc.

Meats are frozen for a longperiod of times. Some meat(especially poultry) are frozen upto two years. Cold temperaturesdo not kill all species of bacteria.Meat can stay in the intestine forat least four days until it isdigested. Have you ever seenwhat happens to a piece of meatthat stays in sun for three days? This long stay of meat inintestine can cause cancer.Tigers or Lions who eat meatand grow strong on it have acidbased digestive system. Ourhydrochloric acid is not enoughto fully digest meat. Also theirintestines are in straight run of

about five feet long, not twisted andturned, compacted into small areaunlike the human intestine which istwenty feet long. Therefore, Non-vegetarians are at higher risk of:-

a) Colon Cancerb) Food-poisoningc) Kidney damaged) Heart diseaseVegetarian food-fruits, vegetables,

whole grains etc., are gifts of MotherNature that create positive energy inour body. Also protein that comes fromvegetarian food is easy to digest.Vegetarians can have a longer life-span than the non-vegetarians. Youcan see the cows, goats, gorillas, elephants, rhinoceroses etc. are allvegetarians (herbivores) but look, howtough these animals are, not to mentiontheir life span which is longer ascompared to the carnivores (meateating animals).YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT

To lead a peaceful, perfect, contented life, you must choose toadopt a satwik and simple lifestyle. You need to follow your inner guidanceand honour, love and respect yourself.Learn from experience andunderstanding why you need tochoose vegetarianism. “As the food,so the mind.” Let satwik food guideyour life, manage your mind andenlighten you spiritually, so that youwalk on the path of God-realizationand Self-realization which is thepurpose of a Rajyogi. Become a Self-sovereign and a true RAJYOGI.Lead a peaceful life.

Ancient Indian science ofhealing has tremendousdepth of understanding

the superfine machine calledBMSO or a human being. Thecurrent research inneuroscience also reveals thetremendous, all round visionabout human health.Edgar Cayce supports the

Karma TheoryThe first phenomenon that

surprises most of us is: Why dobad things happen toapparently good people?Srimad Bhagavad Gita tells usthat bad karma in the past birthsis the reason. What EdgarCayce, the famous psychicreader told under the spell ofhypnosis probably proves all thathas been mentioned in BhagavadGita. These are known asCayce’s Readings. It is the storyabout us, our relationship to theUniverse and Karma theorygiven in Bhagavad Gita. Hespoke, “Ignorance does notgrant an exemption from greatspiritual laws governing the

entire Universe for millions ofyears precisely and without ahiccup. We all have a soulconstantly watching over ouractions and enjoying its ownExperiences and thoughts. Weall have a greater plan andpurpose before we came here. That is why the author says“We are not human beingsundergoing spiritual experiencebut spiritual beings who areundergoing human experience. When we resist the purpose wehave chosen to fulfill, weencounter more and more pain, sufferings, difficulties andseemingly ‘bad luck’. If weviolate someone’s free will, wemay require another lifetime to‘Balance’ ourselves out byenduring similar hardships.Whatever we measure out toothers, ‘Good’ or ‘Bad’ will bemeasured back to us. We caneliminate this entire vicious cycleby practising pure forgivenessand acceptance. Peace andhappiness are within ourselvesprovided we function according

to eternal spiritual laws.Dr. Thomas Garret, a

therapeutic hypnotist, whopioneered the treatment of shell-shocked soldiers in the FirstWorld War, recorded anastounding experience with oneof his private patients. Theyoung man was emotionallyupset over a broken romance. In hypnotic trance, he told thathe and his fiancée fought over atrivial matter and she returnedthe engagement ring. Dr. Garrettold the person under hypnosisthat he could visit the woman heloved and see personally howshe feels about him. Dr. Garretfurther suggested that he couldleave the body in astral form andtravel directly to his fiancée’shouse. After a gap of some time, the entranced person told that hewas standing in front of theclosed door of the house. Dr.Garret instructed him that hecould pass through the door andtell him what she was doing. Theentranced person reported “Sheis writing a letter to himapologizing for her part in thequarrel and expressing the hopeof reconciliation; Next day theyoung man received the letterfrom his sweetheart which hehad read telepathically. (Now isit difficult to believe that ‘Entryin body of another person’mentioned in yogic scriptures isnot a myth?)

and Dr. Dean Radin [2001]-Mass Mind Attention andIntention and Globalconsciousness Project–provides the most striking andpersuasive evidence that massMind Attention and Intentionaffect the physical world. Ifenough of us meditated withthoughts of love and peace, wecould smoothen out ‘KozyrevFlow of time’ and bring aboutglobal peace and harmony.Tsunamis of violence inhuman mind bring about thetsunamis in the physicalworld. Dr. Nelson says–“Thought does matter. Westernconcept that the thoughts are notimportant is wrong.”

Dr. Glen Rein, Universityof London, made stunningdiscoveries that DNAbehaves in direct responseto our thoughts andundergoes DNA winding orDNA unwinding, and both ofthem have healthconsequences. The sendershaving psychic power with themost coherent brain wavepatterns had the strongest abilityto change the structure of DNA.This means our thoughts canactually create physical andchemical changes in thestructure of DNA molecule.(Gene therapy by thoughts?)Valerie Sadyrin was able towind in DNA in Dr. Rein’s

laboratory in California from hishome in Moscow; thousands ofmiles away during a thirtyminute period of time. The keyfactor that was necessary was‘Heartfelt focused’ thought.Dr. Rein has proved that love hasa direct beneficial andmeasurable effect on DNA.

This may explain the sciencebehind the Yog-Bhattis carriedout by the Brahma Kumarisorganization in which intenseand volcanic meditation ispractised for sending vibrationsof love and peace throughoutthe world or specifically to thosesouls who are under immensesuffering due to bomb blast orany other catastrophe. This mayalso provide the explanation ofcure by Reiki from a very longdistance.

Dr. Peter Gariaev was ableto completely transform a frog’sembryo into salamander embryocausing a complete fastprocessing mutation withoutconventional gene splicing usingnothing more than a green laserbeam, an energy wave, whichis healing. The same thinghappened when the thoughtenergy waves from personswith psychic powers were used. They meditated with ‘Heart-feltfocus’ of thoughts abouttransformation on the frog’sembryo, wishing it to turn intosalamander embryo. (This may

explain the effect of cursesor blessings from powerfuland pure souls).

Dr. Dzang Kangengmotivated by Kozyrev carriedout a transfer of genetic codefrom one species to another bynothing more than an energywave. He placed a duck in afive-sided chamber and coveredit with a domed mirror. Five sidesof the pentagon had holes withfunnels fixed onto it. Each funnelhad a pipe that fed into theadjoining room where there wasa pregnant mother hen. Theduck was then zapped for fivedays with a high frequencyelectrostatic generator.Amazingly when the hen laideggs what hatched out of themwere half duck and half chickenhybrids. After one year, hybridsweighed 70 percent more thannormal chicken.

Publication in Journal ofoffenders’ rehabilitation[1993] – ‘Heal the world byhealing yourself’ – BrahmaKumaris tell it in a bitdifferent way Self-transformation for WorldTransformation.

A group of about 7000 peoplegathered at three different timesfor a period over two years. These people got together andmeditated with thoughts of loveand peace. This innovativeprocedure reduced all acts of

24 The World Renewal, August 2014

terrorism and violence by a phenomenal 72per cent. Fifty other publications proved thatthe effect really works. In another study, violent crimes and rapes in Washington DCwere decreased by 23 per cent over a periodof two months. When the meditations werestopped, very soon the crime rate went upto higher than original level.

In this context, Dr. Len’s HawaiianHo’oponopono-(wishing good forothers) is also relevant. Dr. Hew Len,a Hawaiian psychiatrist, discovered that asimilar technique could increase healthand happiness in the psychiatric ward hemanaged. Criminally insane and dangerouspatients were kept in the ward. Psychologistsquit on a monthly basis. Reporting sick bythe staff was phenomenal. Care-takerswould walk in the ward with their backsagainst the wall, afraid of being attackedby the patients. Dr. Len, in addition to drugsadministered a novel therapy. After therounds, he would sit in his chamber and holdeach patient’s case file in his hand. Hewould then keep saying– “I am sorry. I loveyou. Please forgive me.” This was Dr. Len’sHo’oponopono technique. Within a fewmonths, a miracle happened. The patientsthat were shackled were allowed to walkfreely. Others started getting off their heavymedication. The staff started enjoyingcoming back to work. Soon the staffoutnumbered the patients. Today the wardis closed.

Flynn effect – Why placebos, on –medicinal substances giving cure, havebecome more powerful than drugs?

It has been estimated that nearly 40000human genes have undergone mutation insuch a way that indicates as if human beings

are getting evolved into a superior race. Is this thebeginning of the so-called Golden Age mentionedin Hinduism? New I.Q. scales have been devised.Shockingly, the persons who scored the best 10 percent with previous scale would now be amongstweakest 5 per cent. Furthermore, the number of people, whose scores would rank them as geniuses, hasincreased by twenty times. There is an overall increasein Happiness index. Happiness prevents our bodiesfrom getting sick.

Studies in Journal of happiness since 1980 revealedthat ‘Placebo effect’ has become very powerful withina short time. Osiris Therapeutics, USA, had to suspendtheir trials of a drug for Crohn’s disease in March 2009as the participants were getting unusually high responseto placebos. Eli Lilly had to abandon a new drug totreat schizophrenia when the volunteers showed 200per cent increase in response to the placebos. BigPharma companies are now saying “Their drugs arenot weaker. ‘Placebo effect’ is getting stronger.”

In nutshell, do not dismiss spiritual and yogicpractices as blind faith and unscientific. Give them atry and have the proof of your own experience for‘Experience is the best teacher in life’.

Sunset approaches we are barely sane;Longing for the sun to rise again. Our reunion with God is not far away,

But we need to be purer day by day.

It’s going to be the start of a great New Age,

For which we write purity on every fresh page.Happiness and love will soon surround all,With the golden sunrise after a long downfall.

GOLDEN SUNRISE– Sidhi, London

The World Renewal, August 2014 25

Sixty seven years ago, weIndians gotindependence from the

hundreds of years of anarchic, humiliating British rule. Thanksto the invaluable contributions byinnumerable freedom fighters ofour great nation, India becamean Independent country on15th August 1947. And thereason why we can breathetoday in independent Bharat isbecause of those famous andunsung real heroes and heroinesof Mother India who sacrificedtheir lives to give us freedom.Hailing from different parts ofthe country, they applieddifferent methods but had oneaim, i.e. to liberate Mother Indiafrom the British rule.Undoubtedly the names of allthese martyrs will forever bewritten in the golden letters inthe history of IndianIndependence.

However, if we analyse thesituation of the present Bharatsince its independence, we’ll findthat, the situation has in factworsened. Apart from thedrastic increase in the existingproblems such as poverty,

overpopulation, unemployment, dowry etc., some more graveproblems such as terrorism, crimes against women, ever-increasing corruption inpolitics, administration etc., havemarred the development andcaused deterioration in the lawand order situation of thecountry.

Considering the overallpresent picture as prevailing inBharat, let us ask ourselves:“Was this the kind ofIndependence which our greatpatriots had dreamt of for us?”Many believe that during theBritish rule we were far betterthan what we are now. So, it isclear that we have failed to makeour nation Ram Rajya whichwas the dream of Bapuji(Mahatma Gandhi), the Fatherof our Nation.

What are the reasons behindthe unprecedented gravesituation that we are facingtoday? There is constant fear ofwar because of conflictingrelationships between most ofthe neighbouring countries. Thenature is also showing the signsof deterioration due to

degradation of human values.Sex-Lust, Anger, Greed,Attachment, Ego, Jealousy,Enmity etc., are omnipresent. Infact, it is these vices which areresponsible for the present stateof chaos and feeling ofinsecurity and the unavoidablemass destruction of the world ingeneral and Bharat in particular.

It must be understood thatthese vices are nothing but thereal Maya or devil Ravanawhich have maligned us andmade us body-conscious, thusmaking us forget our realidentity. That is why we havebecome sorrowful, disease-prone, weak and subject tountimely death. It is because ofthese vices that our youths havebeen addicted to drugs, alcoholetc. The presence of these veryvices has resulted in thedegradation of character of manwhich is quite evident from theever-rising crimes againstwomen and various forms ofexploitation of women andchildren.

It is the time of Doomsdayabout which it has beenmentioned in the holy Quran thatat such a juncture God comesfrom His Supreme Abode toliberate us souls from thegraveyard. It is the same timenow when the SupremeFather (Param Pita) of allfathers has descended from HisSupreme Abode to liberate us

THE REALINDEPENDENCE

26 The World Renewal, August 2014

from the real foreigner, i.e.‘Ravana’, who is ourreal enemy. Ravana is noneother than our own vices orweaknesses. It is this Ravanawho has made the erstwhileGolden Sparrow Bharat intoa country that is morally andspiritually bankrupt. In order tore-create the Rama Rajya, the world Bapu, the SupremeFather, the Supreme Soul, GodShiva, has come down to earthand has been teachingRajyoga through the corporealmedium of Brahma Baba since1936-37.

He has been teachingabout the Soul, the SupremeSoul; the beginning, middle andend of the world-cycle, and Karma Philosophythrough the Corporeal Mediumof Dada Lekhraj who was laterrenamed by God Shiva asPrajapita Brahma. He hasformed a completely non-violentarmy of Shiv Shaktis andPandavas (i.e. those women andmen) who practise Rajyoga intheir daily life in letter andspirit. He is enabling us tobecome completely vice-less,i.e. pure and self-sovereign. Hismain teaching to us is to be soul-conscious and to remember Himonly.

By following the teachings ofthe Supreme Father, we becomecompletely viceless and createthe right atmosphere for the

upcoming new Golden Agewhich is going to be a very pureera, the Satyuga. People, takebirth in that Era on the basis ofthe divine qualities they developin the present Kaliyuga. In thatnew world, everyone will becompletely pure; they will be likedeities and it willl be a virtualheaven, a peaceful and happyworld!

So, let us now understandhow these vices have affectedus souls so negatively andviciously and how we can attainreal independence from them.

Vice of Lust: As per Godlyknowledge, this is the No. 1 vice, which has tarnished the purityof souls which were once deitiesin Golden Age and Silver Age.It starts from the body-consciousness which starts fromidentifying with the physical selfand later induces us to committhe greatest sin amongst all. Thisvice along with the vice of angerhas been mentioned in evenShrimad Bhagwat Gita as thegreatest enemy of the mankind. This single vice has made thisworld a dirty and impure world. It makes one’s mind criminal. Aperson under the influence ofthis greatest subtle enemy losesthe conscience of right andwrong and is induced towardsimmorality and in some caseslead to heinous crimes. This isthe vice that has turned thiserstwhile Golden Sparrow

Bharat or Paradise into hell, forit has maligned the intellect ofhuman soul and has resulted inthe downfall of character. Nowin the present auspiciousConfluence Age, God Shiva, who is the Ocean of Knowledge,Purity, Love, Peace andCompassion reveals to us thatbeing the children of oneSupreme Father, we are all soulbrothers. This state ofawareness constantly civilizesour eye and His remembranceabsolves us of our past sins andmakes us worship worthy, i.e.deities in the forthcoming GoldenAge. It must be noted that GodShiva is establishing a purehousehold in the form of ShriLakshmi and Shri Narayan – theempress and emperor of theforthcoming Golden Age.

Anger: This is another mainvice which results in thedestruction of us human souls. It is the most common vice. Justa few words said under theinfluence of anger cause painand wounds in the mind of theothers and results in the break-up of relationships or createbitterness between them. Sucha person sooner or later becomesisolated as everyone wants toavoid such a person. However,if we learn and practise Rajyogabeing taught by Incorporeal GodShiva, we get the realization thatwe are souls and peace is ourtrue nature. Thus, we are able

The World Renewal, August 2014 27

to change our vicious attitudeinto positive one. As we increaseour self-awareness, we are ableto see everything with positiveattitude, give regard and receiveregard. Thus, we are able totransform even our enemies intoour friends.

Greed: Even though it is asubtle vice but its consequencesare very dangerous. Greed oravarice comes from the wantsor desire to accumulate wealth, possessions etc. unnecessarilyat the cost of causing loss toothers. It begins with a subtlethought: ‘I want to have this’ orthe belief that ‘more is better’and satisfying the desiresbecomes more of an addictionthus eroding our sense ofmorality. It results in many socialevils such as bribery, forgery, deceit, murder etc. In order toconquer it, God advises us tohave pure temptation ofreceiving God FatherlyBirthright of Paradise from Him,which is possible when weimbibe the most precious divineknowledge and make our lifevirtuous like that of a deity.

Attachment: It is anothervery common subtle vice whichcauses so many problems suchas mental trauma, agony, bitterness, loneliness, etc. It is aweb in which one gets stuckdrastically. Because of body-consciousness, we forget thatwe were born in this world

alone and have to go alone. Westart searching for a friend, a lifepartner etc., with the hope ofsharing our joys and sorrowswith him/her. It induces us tomake decision based onfavouritism. Attachment can bewith relatives, friends and alsowith the possessions, status, objects etc. It createsdependence on our near anddear ones so much so that wecannot imagine our life livingaway or without them. Now inthis present auspiciousConfluence Age, God Shivaadvises us to forget all bodiesand bodily relationships andremember Him constantly, because it is only He who is oursaviour and Ocean of Love, whose love is unlimited andunconditional. Since, as perGodly knowledge, this is our lastbirth in this kalpa (time cycle),what we all need to do is torecognize our most belovedSupreme Father and rememberHim only and to have purerelationships with soul brothers. This will enable us to receiveunlimited love and blessings fromGod Father.

Ego: The last but not theleast vice is that of ego, whichis also very subtle. It is alsocalled arrogance. An egoist orarrogant person usually thinksabout himself or his friends, relatives and near and dearones only. He may have an

arrogance of his skills, talents, intellect, special qualities etc.Sometimes a person, who hasconquered all other vices, stumbles at this last hurdle. Inthat case, it gives birth to all ofthe vices yet again. Such aperson usually says, “I’m right”,“I do this”, “I did this”, “Youknow nothing”. Such a personcan very easily hurt the feelingsof others. An egoist person ismore likely to have the feelingof revenge and is prone to feelinsulted very often. It starts withthe feelings of ‘I’ and ‘Me’.Now God Shiva advises us thatwhenever we say ‘I’, we shouldremember our original identityis: ‘I am not a body but a soul,a point of light and I havecomplete control over my body, which is my chariot.’ If I’vesuch a remembrance, my everykarma will be pure and divine.Further, if we think about ‘my’,we should remember ‘MyBaba’ only, i.e. God Father whois Ocean of all virtues andpowers. This remembrancewill enable us to conquer ego.

If we follow God FatherShiva’s divine knowledge andapply the same into our practicallives, we will not only be able toconquer all these vices, but willalso be able to fulfil the dreamof Ram Rajya of Bapuji,Mahatma Gandhi. That will bethe real independence.

28 The World Renewal, August 2014

If the floodgates are open onyour life, what are they opento? In my experience, they

can only open up and allow fourthings in: Having been good, doing good, suffering (of thepast) and doing bad.

Do You Know Someone?I know someone for whom the

floodgates have really opened tosuffering, immense suffering. They are clinging on to all thingsgood in life, and are hoping thequicksand of their suffering andits causes do not drag themunder. They are, in essence, very good, with a golden heart, good intentions, and a great lovefor God and truth, yet who canclaim to be ever good in a worldof such badness andcomplications as not to pick upsome bruises?

God’s Chocolate is VerySweet and Sugar-Free.I do not think this person I

know is alone in his immensesuffering today, and in manyways it is inevitable, as thiscycle of drama is now quicklycoming to its end and all karmic

debts have to be repaid – infull. They may be small or largedebts; they may manifestthemselves in toothache, backache, financial ruin orrelationship mayhem, even all ofthem. If any debt is owing andhas been placed in your suitcase(soul) that you constantly carryround with you, then that is whatyou’re going to have to payback, and if that hurts andcauses you suffering, then youonly have yourself to blame. However, with God’s help, 95%of the pain can be taken away.

The people of the world areall suffering and sick, and Godwants you to distribute theointment to help cure them all.To sit in a cave or be sittingglued to the TV on the sofa orasleep or lazing in bed, is nevergoing to make you a Godlyhelper in His task, but you willbe more of the problem than thesolution to one needing help.

The Signpost Pointing AtYourself, Heaven and The

Vices.God likes us to have an open

spiritual mind which allows us totravel and walk withcomfortable shoes, light heartand clear aim. Without God’struth and purpose in our lives, our hearts become heavy, ouraims become selfish and weak,we walk with a limp and start tobecome disabled and evencrippled, and our minds start tobecome closed and we slowlygo blind.

God likes that we learn toleave footprints of love andpeace and become clever inmaking signposts that pointaway from the quicksand of thevices. Yet what God wishes andwhat man dictates and pushesothers into, is quite different. Achild wants to play in the dirt andthe parents wish him to sit down,be quiet, study and makesomething of his life.

God Comes to Point OutOur Mistakes – and The

Solution.God comes to simplify life; it’s

we who complicate it so much.Do you want to roll around inthe dirt or move forward in life

ONLY GOD CAN GIVE YOU THE NOURISHMENTAND INSIGHT TO ENJOY LIFE TO ITS FULLEST -

and accomplish and master it toits fullest degree? Do you wantto remain dirty or have a veryclean, bright and clear future?God only wants the best for us,and for us to put down the worst. You cannot hold both the bestand worst in your hands at thesame time, and if you work forGod, you automatically have toput down the worst. Whatever, you carry round with you, thenthat is what you shall build eachday. Most carry aroundfalsehood and rubbish (vice andwaste thought), so you canimagine what they build and thestate of their lives.

It’s good to know andappreciate the Meaning andValue of Truth, Especially if

You Want a Happy Life.If you are in debt (unhappy),

then you yourself have createdthe debt in the first place. If atthat time, you were ignorant ofyour suitcase (soul) opening andan I.O.U. being placed in it onyour behalf, then that is noexcuse at all. If you accidentallykick someone, can you say youare not responsible? This I.O.U.will have your name on it and itis this that now needs repaying.Karma is a tough law when itcomes to repaying but we neverthink of this when we are happilyenjoying ourselves in the wrongway and in so doing, creating adebt.

Are You Walking Round InLife Making Yourself

Blind?It’s no good pleading

ignorance now to what you didwrongly in the past. If you goround in life blowing everyone’scandle out, you should not besurprised if one day your ownworld becomes completely dark.

The Oil Of DishonestyMakes the Gates Of

Suffering Open All TooEasily.

The floodgates of happinesscan also open up just as suddenlyand easily just as the gates ofsuffering can. However, thesegates of happiness are nowrarely seen open, are very rusty, often squeak and get stuck. Weneed great honesty and care inour lives if we are to open andkeep open the gates that canallow our lives to be filled withhappiness. Yet with most peoplewalking round with the attitudeof: If I’ve a hole (vice) in myone shoe, and two holes in myother shoe (life) then it reallydoes not matter. It’s of littlewonder then that such people‘slives are devoid of happiness.

Honesty really is theheartbeat to successful livingand a life of happiness but itsshoes are exacting and preciseand not everyone can fit intothem and feel comfortable. Many ignorantly walk a round

in muddy Wellingtons that arealways three sizes too small andvery uncomfortable to walk(live) in and naturally would takeyou to dirty places.

Honesty acts as an insurancepolicy and can protect you intimes of difficultly. Dishonestpeople do not ever look happyand always feel uncomfortablewith themselves and otherpeople. Without honesty in yourlife, your heart will slowly growweak and could stop beating atany moment. An honest heartis a strong heart.

To meet a truly honest persontoday may be an exception andappear rather boring. Dishonestpeople look and sound like sheepin the back of a lorry on the wayto the slaughterhouse. Thedishonest may not realize thatthe road they are travelling on istaking them on a dangerousjourney and has a very sinisterand dangerous end, but they willdo one day.The Shoes That You WearDecide Your Future and

How You Look. For the honest amongst us,

life is just beginning and for thedishonest, it’s just ending. Thetwo roads of honesty anddishonesty go in oppositedirections and have verydifferent rewards at both ends.At the end of one destination isa small crowd of happy smiling

30 The World Renewal, August 2014

people and in stark contrast atthe other end of the road are vastcrowds of endless people cryingin great distress on their knees. The Shoes of Truth Are Not

Easy to Always Put OnEach Day.

All of this is dependent onwhich shoes you walk in today. The shoes of truth take effortto put on yes, but theWellingtons of falsehood andlies are incredibly difficult andpainful to take off as they arealways such an incredibly tightfit and bound to pinch, causeblisters and make your feetbloody and very sore. TheseWellingtons are not that difficultto put on and yet later, due tobody-consciousness and thevices, are extremely difficultand almost impossible, to takeoff. I guess because theseWellingtons are moreinteresting and attractive andeasier to initially put on than theshoes of truth, they have provedso popular. This does answerand make sense why there areso many crippled (suchsuffering) and limping peopleabout. It’s what A Person Is Like

On the Inside ThatCounts.

The tongue in the shoes oftruth always makes its wearersspeak the truth and impossiblefor them to lie whilst wearing

them. Yet for the Wellingtonboot-wearers with their heavymud collected on their soles, makes them very tired andconfused and easy for them totell lie after lie with endlessjustification. The only thing theyaccomplish and end up doing isfooling those who care forthem and robbing themselves ofhappiness. By telling lies, cheating and fooling others, theywill only prove in the end toeveryone, themselves included, that they really are very poorpersons on the inside who areprepared to lie and cheat theirway through life.A Thirst For Truth Helps

You Keep Your ShoesClean Whilst Walking

Down The UnpredictableLane of Life With Its Many

Puddles and HiddenPitfalls.

A mouthful of the truth ofwater will do you far better andquench your thirst, than whathaving an endless tap of lies inyour house will do for you. Most often drink from the tapof lies, not being content with amouthful of truth. Most find truthtoo distasteful to swallow. Yeta drop of truth from God isinfinitely better for you than anocean of man’s lies. For thosewho are thirsty for truth, thereis only God’s water in their cup(mind). Man’s lies only create

an unquenchable thirst that willnever go away, regardless ofwhat they drink or how muchof it.People Struggle and Work

for Food That IsDangerous to Eat

People have becomeaccustomed to living offbreadcrumbs. Their lives areworth breadcrumbs, and theystruggle having to work foreven these. Thesebreadcrumbs, at best, areaverage and become rathertasteless and dull, and at worst, turn poisonous. The bread(actions and reactions) of lifebecomes, without great careand attention, a mere habit thateventually makes you ill anddiseased, mentally unstableand exhausted.

Honesty Is The BestPolicy.

There are many habits in lifethat are so dangerous that theywill kill you. Everyone is guiltyof greed, attachment, body-consciousness or ego in theirlives. With karma, two and two, always makes four. Althoughat the time it may look like twoand two are making eight(people are escaping the resultof their bad actions) or even 33(making no sense at all, as theyappear very happy), eventuallythe law of karma always addsup correctly and pays back.

Many Labour to Walk On Broken GlassWhen They Could Easily Put On

Comfortable Godly Shoes That KnowWhich Way To Go.

God has come with a whole loaf (life full ofvirtues, peace, love and happiness) for eachsoul to eat every day and enjoy to its fullestpotential. This is a far cry from the few crumbson offer today that most have to make do with.Everyone is now tired of these few stalecrumbs which they have to labour so hard toacquire and which can all too easily lead toindigestion and heartburn. God has brought usthe correct food (knowledge and awareness)to eat and which will make you so healthy, you’ll walk in the right direction and be happyfor thousands of years.

Are You Wise Enough And LovingEnough To Become A Shepherd Or AreYou Destined To Become Shepherd’s

Pie?Some choose to walk the wrong way down

the path of labour and falsehood that takesthem away from God, truth and heaven. Butremember, it’s a dark solitary path and onethey will have to walk alone, even if they thinkthey are surrounded by family and friends ofa similar mind and who all think they are right. The ‘sheep’ always think they are right, leadinga comfortable life grazing in the fields ofignorance, until the day comes when they areloaded on to a lorry and taken to the slaughterhouse. Only when they hear the screams ofdistress when being unloaded at the other end, will they realise their great mistake and theerror of their ways. What would you call thedriver of the crashed car who lay dying in itsburning wreckage, who only then realized thathe had been driving too fast to see clearly outof his windscreen? Realisation and clarity of

mind can save your life, said the shepherd of thesheep.Using Your Loaf (Mind) To Enable Others’

Hearts Beat Next To God, Means You‘llNever Go Hungry.

Only God can give the knowledge, enlightenmentand wisdom which enable you to experience life toits fullest potential, and the spiritual love to digest it.This knowledge and love fuels your arms, and themore you help others today, the greater, the richer, the sweeter, the lighter, the more nutritious the loafyou receive shall be. All loaves, by their nature, willbe incredible in every way, yet the more incredibleyou become today in helping others, the moreincredible your loaf (life) shall taste.

So, walk and lend a hand to God, and you’ll walkin paradise soon and never again need a hand inanything; such is the power in this loaf and in thisgiving!

THE CALL OF OURTIME

“At this time God, the Father of all souls, isgiving us a chance to become elevated – letus take that chance. Let us continue to makeour own individual effort to keep Him in frontof us. Do not think about your own past or thepast of others. Do not worry about the futureeither; but simply be concerned about creatingyour own present. Focus your efforts onkeeping your thoughts elevated and pure. Thiswill make your vision, your attitude, and youractions elevated and pure, and then you willbe able to live a life that brings benefit toyourself and to the world.”

32 The World Renewal, August 2014

thoughts, words and deeds, areprotected by their own gooddeeds; someone definitelybecomes instrumental in helpingthem. Why do sisters tie Rakhis

to their brothers?Sisters have great

love for their brothers. Theycan’t see the moraldownfall of their brothersand cannot accept their brothersbeing tied in the bondage ofvices. Knowledgeable sistersknow that a person in thebondage of vices will eventuallybe bonded in sorrow, miseriesand untimely death. Therefore, they tie their brothers in the bondof purity and dharma. Hence, celebrating this festival from theperspective of physical relationis ignoring the secret of thisgreat festival. Knowing thesecret of tying of this bond is veryessential for both – the one whois tying it and also the one whois tied with Rakhi.

Protect the fast of PurityThis festival has been called

as ‘poison-breaking festival’ or‘festival bestowingbenevolence’; that also provesthat it is something of a very highbond; the bond of thread is justa symbol. All of usknow whether a lotus flower issymbolic of purity or just anadornment. When we tell

someone to become like theflower lotus, that doesn’t meanthat one should pluck it from apond and hold it in his or her hand, but it means that just as a lotusflower, despite living in the dirtywater, remains pure, detachedand separate; similarly, oneshould become detached anddisinterested. Likewise, ‘Tie thebond of Protection’ means‘observe the fast of purity’.Purity is dear to Protector

GodThe relation of brother and

sister is sacred. The visionamong brother and sister is verypure towards each other; thereis never even a fraction of sex-lust in it. Therefore, from therelation of religion, sisters tie Rakhi to brothers, orBrahmins tie it to householderswith the wish ‘Brother, be purebecause purity is dear to theProtector God.’Great conduct makes the

speech effectiveIn fact, those sisters, who are

not following the fast of celibacyor those Brahmins who are not

following this great fast, don’tdeserve to tie this bond ofpurity to anyone. The one, whodoesn’t follow any rule, neitherhas a right to give speech on thistopic to anyone, nor can his orher speech influence people. Inthis context, the example fromthe life of Mahatma Gandhi willclarify this point moreeffectively. It is said that once amother took her son to theprayer-assembly of Gandhi ji andsaid – “Mahatma ji, a son of mineeats a lot of jaggery, which iscausing so many pimples, blemishes to him, but he stillwould not give up this habit; ifyou try to convince him, I’m surehe will agree.’ Gandhi ji said –“Okay, please bring him to meafter a month, then I’ll teachhim about it.’ The mother wentback. After one month, shecame back and remindedMahatma Gandhi ji of thatincident. Now Gandhi ji advisedthe child not to eat the jaggeryand the child accepted Gandhiji’s advice. Then, the motherasked Gandhi ji, “Wouldn’tit have been more beneficial ifyou had told this to my son onemonth ago?” Gandhi ji said, “But,then, I didn’t have the right totell this.” The mother wasastonished and said, “So, whathas made the difference in onemonth?” Gandhiji replied, “SinceI myself gave up the habit of

(Contd. from page no. 3)

The World Renewal, August 2014 33

eating jaggery; that is why thisimpacted the child and heaccepted my teaching.”

The beginning of thefestival

When those sisters whothemselves observe the fast ofcelibacy in a knowledgeablemanner or thoseBrahmins who remainpure in thoughts, words anddeeds, tie Rakhis to theirbrothers or householders, onlythen the latter will get the inspiration to follow them. Inthe beginning, i.e. some timebefore the beginning ofSatyuga, in Confluence Age,when those Brahmins whowere following the teaching ofKnowledge given by GodHimself through the medium ofPrajapita Brahma, followed thefast of Celibacy, they boundothers also in this bond ofpurity and gave them Godlyadvice that they should sustainthis fast. Thus, RakshaBandhan or the festival ofbreaking the poison of vicesstarted.

The glory of ShravanMonth

You know that this festivalis celebrated every year in theShravan month of Hinducalendar. This month is alsocalled ‘Mal Maas’. This ritualalso indicates that when the

whole world gets malignedwith the vices such as Sex-Lust, Anger etc., then theSupreme Soul, God Shivaincarnates in the body ofPrajapita Brahma and showers– the rain of Knowledge; thosetrue and pure Brahmins, wholisten to this Knowledge, takea vow of chastity. Then, theseBrahmins bind the people withthe bond of protection of purity.

True Mahaveer (Bravemen) and Mahaveernis

(Brave women)Thus, if we really need

protection from ‘Death’,punishments from Yamraj, disease and sorrow, we needto get tied with this wonderfulbond. In other words, we musttake a vow to becomecompletely pure in thoughts, words and deeds. Instead oftying Raksha Bandhan toothers or getting tied with thesame from others, firstly, weneed to tie ourselves with thisbond. If you have the urge tomake your life elevated, if youhave true love for God, thenyou need to take up thisresponsibility of purity. Gettingtied with this true sacred threadis the job of true Mahaveers. How will the cowards protectsomeone? The Mahaveers andMahaveernis are those, whoare determined to wage a war

against the vice of sex-lust;those who in order to put offthe flame of anger, getrecruited in the spiritualbrigade and those who havethe courage to cross the mudof attachment and eradicatethe ego through the sword ofknowledge. Thus, if you wantto truly celebrate RakshaBandhan, then get tied withsuch a Rakhi so that you canattain the self-sovereignty ofParadise, through which youcan receive God’s love. Thenyou won’t need protection fromanyone anymore and throughwhich all wishes willbe fulfilled.Take a vow to live a new

lifeIf you are having any

relation and conduct ofimpurity with someone, then, onthis day of purity, tie to oneanother this bond of purity. Onthe day of Raksha Bandhan, let’s take a vow that from thisday we’ve been tied in thebond of purity and from nowonward, our life willcompletely be a changed. Inthis life, we will protect ourpurity in thought, word anddeed completely. We’ll also becareful about what we give andtake and will pay attentiontowards karmic account sothat the same doesn’t include

34 The World Renewal, August 2014

impurity of any sort. If wecelebrate Raksha Bandhanonly in this way, this countrycan become a great countryand paradise and the dream ofGandhi ji of establishing RamRajya here will be fulfilled. That is why it is famously said,“when Indra’s wife tied Rakhito him, he got the divine self-sovereignty of paradise andwhen Yamuna tied her brotherYam with this bondage, hebestowed this boon on humanitythat on this day whoever tiesRakhi will be exempted fromthe punishment in Yam Lok.This proves that on theoccasion of Raksha Bandhanone can attain the sovereigntyof paradise and can beexempted from the punishmentat the hands of Yam to stay inoriginal nature of peace, loveand purity and have a lovingconnection with God. It is Godalone, who can be a truly-effective and loyal protectorthan any other human being.

START THE DAY WELLIs it a very good morning? If the day begins with

my thoughts scattered in many different directionsor with anxiety about a situation to occur later in theday, it will prove difficult to maintain a positive attitudethroughout the day. This is because my first seriesof thoughts in the morning sets the pattern for thewhole day. If I do not use the early morning hours tosort out my thoughts, what other time in the day willI find to perform such a task?

To sort out thoughts, there needs to be clarity inthe intellect. I have to check and see if there are anywasteful thoughts and, if there are, then I need toremove them by adopting a positive and pure attitude. If there are wasteful thoughts: and I try to battle withthem, it is as if I am giving them life and strength.Wasteful and negative thoughts are created by aweak mind; they have no real foundation; they areonly paper tigers. Instead of battling with them, I shouldsimply create pure, positive thoughts which willautomatically displace the weak, wasteful ones. Forexample, instead of thinking, “I must not get angry, Imust not get angry”, which is negative conditioning,it is better to think, and “I understand why they behavethat way.”
