Dear colleagues,
“The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team."
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the members of the prestigious AOMSI for allowing me to be a part of this successful
journey as AOMSI completes its Golden Jubilee. I congratulate and acknowledge each of you for contributing towards the success of every
venture taken up by the association. With great pride and honor, as the Secretary of the Association, I take this opportunity to share with you a
brief about the major happenings of this year.
Firstly, I would like to congratulate Dr. Sanjiv Nair and Dr. Gopalakrishnan for making an International mark in the world of OMFS and
making our nation proud. Dr. Sanjiv Nair has been elected as the President Elect of IAOMS and Dr Gopalakrishnan has been elected as
chairperson of AOCMF Asia Pacific board. Their contributions have made the world sit back and take notice of the remarkable work being
done in OMFS in India.
A team aligned behind a vision will move mountains. And getting the nation to move with us and notice us, was our motto when we
started the nationwide run with the AOMSI torch. The torch has covered more than half of its journeys and the details can be found in the
September 2019 issue of the AOMSI Newsletter (LINK) The torch run was planned to improvise upon the public awareness of our specialty
and commemorate Golden Jubilee celebrations of AOMSI. I heartily thank all the State Chapters who have come forward and participated in
making this event a well-planned and co-ordinated success.
Various ventures that began a few years ago have started gaining popularity and the seeds sown in the past have finally started bearing
fruits of labour that was invested, for example the AOMSI Fellowship, Newsletter, etc. We thank you, dear members because it is because of
your constant support that all these initiatives have tasted success.
As our association is striving towards greater heights with its teamwork and concerted efforts, I request all members to keep up the
good work.
Thank you all for the support,

the committee has started the enquiry process the detailed report will be submitted in June. Hon. Gen. Secretary Dr Pritham Shetty has read the complaint by Dr Emanual & his reply to the complaint copy of which is
attached. EC agreed upon the answer given by the secretly. Minutes of the previous EC, which was passed proposed by Dr. Pramod Subhash were seconded by Dr. Veerabhau.
Dr. Pritham Shetty Honorary Secretary responded to the complaint –
1)Referring to permit nominations beyond deadline- there was clerical error by the office and was difficult to rectify on website afterwards so was decided to continue to the new deadline. It was put up as a notification
on the website.
2)4 candidates were allowed to contest elections after final list of candidates was declared- proof of same was asked.
3)Right to contest for elections- Referring to this the matter was discussed in AGM in Nagpur and was decided by the General Body that it will not be allowed.
4)Secretary was canvassing in the election area
-Reply General Secretary is a part of election process
-Should have objected if he saw him campaigning.
Election Commissioner Dr.Vikas Dhupar asked all candidate before opening the results whether there was any complain. Also asked the same question before announcing results in AGM, Dr. Emanuel was silent then
too.
5)List of candidates with large photos should be put up, reply to this is it is not a political election, ballot paper was put up in election area.
6)Use of LM number to trace the voter- rely to this LM number important for duplication of results declared immediately. Election process to be started to have 3 OTP’s to verify security system.
Conclusion of Dr. Pritham Shetty Honorary Secretary is that the complaint is frivolous and made to malign the General Secretary.
The Executive Committee then discussed the issue at length. Dr. Ghosla Reddy felt that the complain should be ignored. Dr. Mukul Padhye Joint Secretary, feels it is important for members to feel that the entire
election process has been revised again.
Dr.Padmaraj felt there should be a time limit for lodging a complain. President Dr. Krishnamurthy Bonanthaya Honorary President mentioned that the complainant did not want the President to be present during the
Enquiry Committee meeting. The Executive Committee feels that at the end of the enquiry if the complaint was mudslinging and frivolous then member should be punished.

systems.

EDITOR’S REPORT – 2019
57
1. The year 2019 has seen a steady growth in the Journal of Maxillofacial & Oral surgery as we have now successfully transitioned from a “Print plus online”
to an “Online” only format this year.
2. I am happy to report that the journal has been doing extremely well both in terms of the journal metrics and the related financial statistics. Beginning
January all issues have been embossed with “Celebrating Golden jubilee Year of AOMSI on the Cover of the journal .
3. A total of 290 articles were submitted to the JMOS in 2019 till date, which is slightly more than the corresponding figures in the previous year.
4. In continuation of our policy to publish early in each cycle, we have already published the first three issues of the journal this year and the fourth one
will be publisheisin first week of October.
5. Since the download figures of the new sections started last year were highly encouraging, we have published three articles in the ‘Invited review section
this year.
6. The Net Royalty for the JMOS in 2018 payable in 2019 was Rs2498860 as compared to previous years Rs 15,40592/- ( Before tax) .This huge 50 % jump
has been partially made possible due to Springer raising the Net Paid revenue by 5%from 30 to 35 %. I thank the Hon. General secretary for his proactive
role in thrashing out the new contract.
7. In our endeavor to improve the journal standards and also on popular demand by some members of the association , we are actively involved in the
process of indexing our Journal in Scopus , as presently the UGC guidelines are accepting this as one of the benchmarks in scientific publishing in India . I
am happy to report that Scopus review committee has accepted the inclusion of journal and this shall reflect in the updated list to be released by
Scopus in Dec 2019.
8. Once again I thank all the Reviewers for their valuable contribution to the journal.
9. Last but not the least I acknowledge the role of all the Associate Editors and reviewers who continue to help us in making our journal one of the best in
the field of scientific publishing in our specialty worldwide.
