ECO Shield ™

Throughout our business operations, we do everything we can to minimise impact on the environment and help protect our planet for future generations. As a company we continually source and trial the most contemporary antistatic materials and are in the process of field trialing new biodegradable antistatic bags.

As static shielding bags are inherently non-recyclable, we have introduced our ECO Shield™ range.

ECO Shield™ is a trademark of Antistat which recognises the environmental pitfalls of the shielding bag ranges. As we strive to minimise the impact on the environment throughout our business operations, ECO Shield™ allows us to offer a carbon offsetting scheme to our customers, which in turn gives a direct contri-bution to the environment and certificated carbon credits to our corporate clients.

RoHS Directive

The RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive 2002/95/EC came into force on 1st July 2006 and restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electronic and electrical equipment within the European Market. Antistat ensures that wherever applicable, our products are RoHS compliant.

There are a number of material exemptions from the RoHS Directive. For further information on this, please visit the RoHS website where The BERR Guidance has further information for the exemptions detailed below:

Meanwhile, we offer carbon offsetting to customers who use our ECO Shield range of shielding bags. A percentage of the revenue from these non-recyclable products goes to a recognised carbon offsetting project, providing certificated carbon credits for our corporate clients.

Surface Resistance Meter 9VFeatures:

This meter has been designed to measure both surface resistance and resistance to ground. To measure surface material place the meter on the area to be tested and press the test button. For measuring resistance to ground, place the ground lead into the earth leakage socket, connect the crocodile clip to the area to be tested and press the test button.

The meter will test conductive, static dissipative and insulative surfaces using two parallel bars set to give ohms per square readings. Conductive is indicated by green LEDs from 103-105, static dissipative by yellow LEDs from 106-1011 and insulative by red LEDs 1012+.

The battery power is ok whilst the yellow LED is on - when it starts to go dim this indicates that the battery should be changed.

These molded polyethylene bottles utilise a concentrate that does not contain any Ethoxylated Tertiary Amine, which is widely used as an antistatic agent. These ESD safe bottles have an average surface resistivity of 109 to 1010Ω/square and do not have any less desirable features associated with surfactant laden material.

These bottles will dissipate a static charge of +5000V in less than 2 seconds at 40% relative humidity. By their chemical nature, they will not have any chemical reactivity with solvents as TCE or alcohol. The pH of the deionised water solutions tested were the same before and after a seven day period. No colour or physical change was noted for any solvents tested.
