Annual Report 2014 – 2015
Respected Chief Guest of the college day function Mr.C.K.Kumaravel, CEO,
Naturals Salon & Spa, Chennai! Esteemed Chairman Thiru K.P. Ramaswamy,
Muthayammal Educational and Charitable Trust! Distinguished Secretary Mr. Muthuvel
Ramaswamy! Dynamic Executive Director Mrs. Manju Muthuvel! Learned Colleagues!
Non-teaching staff members! Special Invitees! Parents! Beloved students of this institution!
Technicians! Press and Media Personnel! Ladies and Gentlemen!
As the head of the institution, I take immense delight in extending a warm welcome
on the eve of 21st Annual Day celebration. I am delighted and elated to present you the 21
st
annual report of our College. The academic year 2014– 2015 was a watershed moment in the
annals of our college mainly because of NAAC. We know pretty well that NAAC Peer Team
members paid a fact finding visit to our college for the first cycle of NAAC accreditation. I
feel honor bound to tell you that our college is accredited with A Grade for the first cycle of
NAAC Peer team visit. Now I would like to concentrate only on nucleus aspects. Bloomed in
the year 1994, it offered five Undergraduate Degree courses with 83 students and a handful of
Faculty members. Within a short period of its establishment, the college was grown from
strength to strength. The number has swollen from 83 to 4837(UG-4053; PG-671; M.Phil-96;
Ph.d-17).As of now, it has blossomed into a renowned model educational institution noted for
its quality of education with a sense of discipline. The total number of teaching on the roll is
212 and the Non-Teaching staff members are 83 in number.
I wholeheartedly appreciate all our mission oriented knowledge facilitators who are
religiously dedicated themselves for the betterment of student. Though our college is situated
in a barren terrain backward area, it attracts the length and breadth of India. Moreover,
students from foreign countries like Somalia, Rwanda and Yemen etc. are also studying in
this college.
We presently offer 16 Degree courses at the Under Graduate level and 15 at Post
Graduate level. We promote Research ambience in the Departments of Biochemistry,
Microbiology, Biotechnology, Commerce, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science and
Chemistry.

Academic achievements
We, the management, the principal and the staff have a realization of the fact that
students must make it a point to complete their course with flying colors and also get the
degree in the long run of the course period. With a noble view to achieving these objectives,
we advocate some innovative methods in pedagogy. Since we live in an age of Information
and Technology, we adopt some technological tool to enhance the quality of teaching. I take
pride in revealing the fact among the 86 colleges affiliated to Periyar University, our college
is the first to introduce E-notes in the innate interest of our students. I can authentically say
that there are several students who expanded their horizons by accessing E-notes. We
meticulously adopt peer learning method of teaching and vigorous coaching besides
administering home test, unit test, mid-semester and model examination. Students who fail to

show their academic caliber in University examination are given remedial coaching so as to
enable them to stoutly face the examination. Besides conducting remedial classes, enrichment
classes are also administered for the immense benefit of meritorious students to make them as
a university Gold medalist /Rank holders. Student‟s attendance percentage, behavior pattern,
marks secured in various examinations is periodically intimated to the parents.
In the April/May 2014, University examination, eight of our students secured
university first ranks for which the university honored them with a gold medal during the last
convocation held on 16.09.2014 at Periyar University, Salem. Our students secured 51
University Ranks mentioned below. While congratulating these students, I have high
admiration for the teachers who are mainly responsible for this singular victory.
It is rather remarkable to point out that our college has the unique distinction of being
the first in harvesting gold medals in the galaxy of the colleges affiliated to Periyar
University

With a happy frame of mind, on behalf of you, I congratulate all these afore- mentioned boys
and girls and wish that they become university rank holders.
Teachers Performance
Statistically speaking, there are 212 teaching staff in our college. The
management and the teachers attach much more importance to discipline. Henceforth, we
stressed that the students of our college should be provided sound education coupled with
discipline. We leave no stone unturned to achieve these objectives. We fairly know that
parents admit their wards in this institution with great faith and confidence. We strive every
nerve to fulfill these aspirations. Many of our teachers have achieved 100% pass in the
subjects they handled. Our management encourages these fabulous faculty members by
rewarding them at the time of annual day function. I feel glad to inform you that 126
teachers have achieved 100% passes in the subject they handled. More information in this
connection is provided below.

Library
Talking about library, up to 2014, there were two libraries in our institution. While
one was meant for MCA degree students alone and the other was meant for all students. It
gives me immense pleasure to point out at this juncture that our library is renovated with all
modern facilities. Our library has been shifted to new location (Above Canteen-First Floor)
with spacious for readers. It facilitates Bar coding technology and introduces OPAC system
for users. Our library accommodates with 24,199 Books (Central Library -17876;MCA
Library-6323).I feel proud to announce that we are subscribing as much as good number of
national and international journals. It is a matter of gratification that research scholars
pursuing M.Phil /Ph.D., degrees and the post graduate students who have to submit projects
make good use of these journals. Our college, being a member of N-list programme we are
privileged to access 3100 e-journals and more than 75,000 e-books.
We purchased Books worth of Rs.210026 and Periodical worth of Rs.134730 last
academic year. I take this wonderful opportunity to appeal to all students to spend quality
time in the library and cultivate reading habit which is an important method to enrich their
fount of all knowledge.
IQAC
With the main objective of getting accreditation from NAAC, IQAC was established

NAAC Peer Team. NAAC Peer Team visited our college during 5th

IQAC for their unbending commitment towards NAAC.

Tutorial-Ward System
Tutorial ward system plays a major role to minimize the student‟s problem and motivated
them to concentrate on their studies. In this academic year, 1437 students were benefited. 154
staff members were involved in this process. This system was functioning under the Head,
Mrs. L.Gomathi, Asst. Prof. of BCA.
Entrepreneurship Development Cell
In the present cut-throat competitive world, every one can‟t afford to get govt. job. It
is the prime duty of this cell to create awareness among the students to be job provider rather
than job seeker. Dr.R.Ramaa Baanu, Associate Professor of commerce is the co-ordinator of
this cell. During this academic year, one programme was conducted by this cell. Detail is
provided below:

Transport
In the post independence era, the literacy rate of our country has steadily been
increasing. Now people belonging to the poorer section of the society also would like to
provide good higher education to their wards. It is to be noted that majority of the students of
this institution belong to lower middle class. Due to their socio economic conditions, these
students like to pursue their education as day scholars. To make travel easy and comfortable
for all these students, our management is increasingly trying to operate as many buses as
possible. At present, we have a fleet of 67 buses. The buses operate in different routes
covering a radius of about 60-70 Km. 3405 students, besides a good number of teachers are
also making use of this facility.
