consisting of two internal and one external examiner. Allthese grades/marks will be entered separately in thetranscripts of the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth B.V.Sc.& A.H. annual examinations against each subject andawarding final grade/marks on the basis of both externaland internal examinations.

(3) It shall be the responsibility of the teacher(s)/instructor(s) to ensure that the topics to be covered in thetheory and practical in each course shall be recorded through -a lecture/practical schedule and distributed to the studentsat the beginning of each course. The Head of the deptt./Dean shall ensure that the schedule is adhered to andalternate arrangements are made to cover up the loss incase of any eventualities of unavoidable reasons that leadto non-adherence of the above schedule.

(4) The detailed guidelines to the conduct ofexamination, internal and annual evaluation/ grading,recording, preparation of Mark-lists, transcripts, etc. willbe circulated from time to time, by the Council to thecolleges/institutions to facilitate uniform implementationof the provisions of these regulations.

(5) The schedule of examination shall consist of internaland annual/board examinations. The internal evaluation(s)would invariably be conducted on completion of atleast75% of the course as per lecture/practical scheduleexplained under sub-regulation' (3). Marks obtained intheory and practical in the internal examinations would berecorded separately and submitted to the Dean/Principalbefore the end of the particular semester.

(6) A composite annual examination for a group ofcourses/a course (if only a single course is involved) in thepaper as per a schedule of examinations will be conductedas per sub-regulations (1) and (2).

EXPLANATION: For the first B.V.Sc & A.H.examination the subject of Anatomy has one course in thefirst semester (VAN-HI 2+2=4) and two courses in thesecond semester(V AN-121 2+1=3)andV AN-122 1+2=3).Internal evaluations for VAN-Ill would be conducted beforethe 1st semester ends and for VAN-121 & VAN-122conducted before 2nd semester ends. The marks obtainedin the examination(s) would be recorded and sent to theconcerned Registrar/Controller of Examinations/Dean.After the completion of courses in the second semester acomposite annual examination (for Anatomy Paper 1) wouldbe conducted by a Board appointed by the University forthe theory and practical of VAN-lIl, VAN-121 andVAN-122 giving due weightage to each course. The marksobtained in the theory and practicals of internal and annual!board examination will be added and the grade pointcalculated for the Theory and Practical and recorded agains,tAnatomy Paper-I. ,

Similar pattern will be adopted for the examination ofAnatomy Paper II which will consist of VAN-211 offeredin the 3rd semester and VAN-221 offered in the 4thsemester. The composite annual/board examination forAnatomy Paper II will be conducted after the end of 4thsemester (in 2nd B.V.Sc. & AH. examination).

Similar pattern will be followed for other subjects in thevarious B.V.Sc. & A.H. Examinations.

9. MANUAL OF PRACTICALS :-

The teachers while preparing standard manuals forpracticals, shall take into account the following :-

(1) A record(s)/log book maintained by each student aspractical records.

(2) Observation and recording of the skill with whicheach student executes the practical/identifying the specimenat the practicals etc. be noted.

(3) Assessment of the comprehensive skill andknowledge of each student through an oral examination(viva-voce) be conducted and recorded.

(4) At least 10% marks may be awarded to day to dayrecords including record of case sheets etc. Marks allottedfor the terminal examinations and day to day assessmentshould be carried to the marks allotted at Universityexaminations, but recorded separately.

(5) The records of such examination shall be madeavailable to the Council, as and when required and therecords of assessment may be retained till six months afterthe student finishes his/her course of training.

(6) All examinations shall be held on such dates, timeand places as the University may determine, Allexaminations must be completed so that the results areannounced before the onset of the ensuing semester.

(7) Work distribution chart of each teacher should beavailable with Dean's office for inspection of the Council.In each subject Professors and senior teachers must beactively involved in teaching, especially in conductingpracticals for degree course. The principle behind eachpractical, the objective of each practical level of competenceexpected from the students etc. should be clearly explainedto them by senior teachers.

(8) There will be no supplementary (make up)examinations during the academic session. However, acandidate may be allowed promotion to the next classprovided he/she has failed only in one subject. He/Shecannot be promoted to next B.V.Sc. & AH. class unless hehas cleared the subject in the ensuing session.10. EXAMINERS

(1) No person other than a person possessingqualification included in the First Schedule or SecondSchedule to the Act shall be appointed as internal examineror paper setter for the conduct of a professional examinationfor the B.V:Sc. & AH. course.

(2) Non-veterinary scientists engaged in the teachingof veterinary students may be appointed examiners in theirconcerned subjects provided they possess the doctoratedegree in the subject and eight years teaching experienceof veterinary students after obtaining their doctoratequalification.

PROVIDED THAT :-

(a) no such person shall be appointed as an internalexaminer unless he/she has at least three year'steaching experience;

(b) no person below the rank of Lecturer/Asstt. Professoror equivalent shall be appointed as an internalexaminer;

I(c) no person shall be appointed as an external examiner

in any applied subject unless he/she possesses arecognised veterinary qualification and holds a post-graduate degree and teaching/research experiencein the subject concerned;

(d) external examiners shall be drawn only from personswith at least five years of teaching/researchexperience in a veterinary college or institution;

(e) persons in Government/Semi Govt. or similaremployment may also be considered for appointmentas external examiners provided they possessqualification and experience in the subjectconcerned;

(f) A paper-setter also may be appointed as an internalor external examiner, or vice-versa.

(3) The examining body may appoint a single moderatoror moderators not exceeding three in number for the purposeof moderating question papers in each subject.

(4) Oral and practical examinations shall be conductedby the respective internal and external examiners with mutualco-operation. They shall each have 50% of the maximummarks out of which they shall allot marks to the candidateappearing at the examination according to their performanceand the marks-sheet so prepared shall be signed by both theexaminers. Either of the examiners shall have the right toprepare and sign and send mark sheets separately to theexamining body together with his comments. The examiningbody shall take due note of such comments but it shall declareresults on the basis of the marksheets.

(5) Every veterinary college shall provide all facilities tothe internal and external examiners which are necessary forthe conduct of examinations and the internal examiner shallmake all preparation for holding the examinations.

(6) The external examiner shall have the right tocommunicate to the examining body his/her views andobservations about any shortcomings or deficiencies in thefacilities provided by the Veterinary College with a copy toVeterinary Council of India, if he/she so desires.

(7) Verification of percentage of passing/failing anddeviation from the normal curve of distribution will be subjectto scrutiny/enquiry by the examining body.
