Participants will discover how to translate these and other trends into a sound operational strategy for their organizations, turning disruption into differentiation in the marketplace. A❹ The State of Healthcare Cyber Risk: What You Need to Know and How to Respond Presenters Ben Goodman, founder and CEO, 4A Security & Compliance

Patricia Connolly, executive director, Center for Corporate Governance Drexel University, LeBow College of Business

Anahi Santiago, chief information security office Christiana Care Health System Session Tuesday - 10:30 AM ● Tuesday - 2:30 PM Competency This workshop complements the following competency as described in the alignment HBA Leadership Competency Framework: 3. Exhibits business and industry acumen Objectives - After participating in this session, you will be able to: • identify key security and privacy issues facing the healthcare infrastructure. • review how a cyber tabletop exercise is conducted and the type of information it provides. • describe how incident response preparedness can reduce risk and lower the impact of cyber events. Audience - Senior/executive healthcare leaders, future board members and professionals with cyber risk management responsibility. Description - The healthcare industry has been a prime target for cyber criminals and nation states for the last several years. Protecting the confidentiality of healthcare data from these threats is just one of the challenges we face. The integrity and availability of these data are also critical considerations. As cyber-attacks continue to grow more sophisticated and widespread, this session is designed to provide practical takeaways and information attendees will be able to put to immediate use. The workshop begins with a panel discussion about current cyber threats facing various healthcare industry segments and features a chief information security officer at a large regional medical system, an executive in charge of cyber security for medical devices at a global pharmaceutical company, and a governance expert who will address board and C-suite perspectives on cyber risk management. The second half of the session will be dedicated to a highly interactive cyber threat scenario with direct audience participation guiding the decision-making and affecting the outcome of the scenario. Just as in real-world cyber threat incidents, the panelists–who are responsible for defending against the cyber threats–are not fully in control as they face the consequences of the audience’s decisions. Attendees will receive a healthcare cyber threat scenario workbook they can take back and use with their organizations.

“How will you respond to a healthcare cyber threat? Find out in an audience-driven interactive scenario.”

A❺ Where Do You Want to Be in Global Healthcare Access? Presenters Gloria C. Stone, founder/owner, G. Stone Connections, LLC

Siobhán Ni Bhuachalla, principal, Six Degrees Healthcare Consulting, Inc.

Geoffrey Cook, global head external and patient relations, Novartis

Pharmaceuticals Corporation

Session Wednesday - 8:30 AM (one time only) Competency This workshop complements the following competency as described in the alignment HBA Leadership Competency Framework: 3. Exhibits business and industry acumen Objectives - After participating in this session, you will be able to: • describe key considerations–opportunities and obstacles–in developing a global (vs. US) health initiative. • identify the diverse skill sets and functional area expertise needed for global health programs. • state the value of such programs and respond to critics.

Audience - Those with more than 20 years of industry/business experience who work across geographies and manage cross-functional teams.

Description - Global health initiatives offer exciting opportunities. From the ability to enhance access to medicines to building your company’s reputation and distinguishing yourself, both within your organization and before the broader healthcare community, these programs hold unique potential. They also, however, pose significant challenges, requiring people who can juggle a variety of issues ranging from organizational confusion to issues with budget, capabilities, human resources, reporting, stakeholder relationships and overall program value. There is no specific template for these positions; you learn quickly that you must set the direction. This workshop will challenge participants with the complexity of a global access program, offering the opportunity to learn and share. Much of this is operational (e.g., geographical determination, scope of cross-organizational functions needed, communications/advocacy programs, partnerships and responsibilities, approval and compliance needs and ensuring ongoing leadership support) and much concerns stakeholder relationships (e.g., government and ministries to civic groups, patient groups and activist groups). This workshop will present the strategy and operational elements associated with global health initiatives so participants recognize both the challenges and potential inherent in these programs. Checklists and guidelines from multiple organizations will be provided.

“Global health initiatives pose exciting opportunities as well as significant challenges.”

About the lead presenter: Leveraging more than 30 years’ experience in the healthcare industry as a strategic communicator, Gloria Stone connects healthcare leaders with audiences that matter. Gloria has worked for a number of multinational companies to drive connected communications programs. She founded G. Stone Connections, LLC nearly 10 years ago, applying a strategic approach and analysis to a range of issues and opportunities, from organizational structure to new product entries to patient advocacy and to global access programs.

A❻ Leveraging Analytics for Decision-Making: Strategies for Non-IT Experts Presenters Patricia Trifunov, CEO, Velocity BioGroup

Marian Benz, VP, market access, Velocity BioGroup Session Wednesday - 8:30 AM (one time only) Competency This workshop complements the following competency as described in the alignment HBA Leadership Competency Framework: 3. Exhibits business and industry acumen 6. Makes decisions and takes risks Objectives - After participating in this session, you will be able to: • access resources for improving data analytics competency. • ask smart questions about data sources, assumptions and methodologies. • synthesize information to better inform data-based decisions.

Audience - Those with 11-20 years of business/industry experience; those interested in improving their confidence and competency in using data analytics for decision-making. Description - How many decisions today require an understanding of data? As data sets become bigger and analytical methodologies more complex, how is the non-IT executive able to translate the most relevant components of what data will mean to make a decision? The answer lies in the creation of "actionable" data; that is, data that brings confidence to its users to take present action or to predict likely future events. It has been estimated that the shortage of health IT experts already numbers in the hundreds of thousands, and knowledge brokers in data use and comprehension will soon be in short supply. This workshop won’t teach analytical methods; rather, it will help participants understand how to interpret methodologies that must be combined to reach the best decisions. Having the ability to understand how to effectively use data in decision-making will set you apart from many of your peers. This workshop will provide an opportunity to increase your skills and improve your competency in data literacy without having to rely on or become a statistical and information technology expert. Participants will take home a workbook that will include a self-assessment, online analytics resources, fallacies check list, case study and suggested reading.

“Improve your confidence and competency in using data analytics for decision-making.”

About the presenter: Patricia Trifunov is president of Velocity BioGroup and Velocity Decisions, a strategic consulting, data analytics and government sales company that uses patented software to conduct decision analytics, combining statistical methodologies into a single integrated framework for better decision-making. Pat has a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy and spent 25 years in the biopharmaceutical industry with several companies before starting her own business. She is the former vice president of US government markets at GlaxoSmithKline, where she led a team of contracting, account specialists and business strategists with a $3.5 billion book of business including Medicare, Medicaid, Ryan White, VA, Department of Defense and Indian Health.

C❶ The Skill of Confidence: Unapologetically Leveraging Your Strengths Presenter Chantelle Denise Anderson, founder, VC International LLC Sessions Tuesday - 10:30 AM (one time only) Competency This workshop complements the following competencies as described in the alignment HBA Leadership Competency Framework: 4. Displays professional presence 9. Networks and ethically self-promotes Objectives - After participating in this session, you will be able to: • uncover your unique value proposition and effectively communicate it to others. • use practical tools to enhance confidence and overcome fear. • recognize, form and maintain powerful partnerships. Audience - Those with 5-10 years of business/industry experience; individuals who sometimes struggle to believe in their abilities and who seek to strengthen their self-confidence, leverage their individuality and advance their careers.

Description - Self-confident people are more successful in every area of life, yet confidence–as a skill–is rarely taught. Instead, we’re expected to figure it out on the path to success and are told it comes somewhere after hard work. But if work yields confidence, why are so many of us working hard, gaining competence yet don’t feel any more confident? Why do we still hesitate to speak up and take credit for our contributions or minimize our efforts? It’s because confidence is a skill and all skills must be built and exercised. This session will provide practical ways for you to build confidence by identifying your unique strengths, by using specific tools to fight fear and by developing powerful partnerships to help you live in your areas of strength. Participants will take home a confidence survival kit workbook and guide to powerful partnerships.

“There is nothing more transformative than genuine confidence.”

About the presenter: WNBA Hall of Famer Chantelle Anderson is a former professional athlete and award-winning sales representative turned consultant. After graduating from Vanderbilt University, Chantelle played in the WNBA for six years. She has been inducted into both the Tennessee Sports and the Vanderbilt Athletics Hall of Fame. This interactive workshop is designed for anyone on the quieter side of the introvert-extrovert continuum. Presenters will share the latest research on the neuroscience of introversion and extroversion, conduct a quick in-workshop assessment and provide tools to leverage your unique strengths as a quiet leader, enabling you to work even more effectively with your outgoing colleagues. These skills will increase your ability to speak up, influence others, contribute to important decisions and add to the success of your organization. Participants will view video clips of senior leaders who describe themselves as quiet leaders and hear their secrets for success. A copy of “The Playbook for Professional Presence for Introverts” will be provided so these new strategies can be applied immediately and authentically as you return to your workplace.
