Inspired by the past, built for the future

It’s 60 years since we built our first motorcycle. And during that time Yamaha has created some legendary models that have come to be widely regarded as classics.

When you appreciate the difference between style and fashion, you’ll know the Sport Heritage range is worth a close look. With their timeless appeal and true, sporty performance, these charismatic machines capture the spirit of motorcycling.

By blending pure, simple elemental design with modern technology, we’ve created a range of easy to personalize motorcycles that rekindle the passion among experienced riders, while also enabling younger owners the chance to be a part of the growing retro movement.

The Yard Built platform shines a light for those who dream of their own custom bike but don’t have the skill to tackle a full build. Talented customizers build inspirational concepts that give owners ideas on how to transform their Yamaha. Once completed the builder may decide then to make aftermarket kits for Yamaha customers, allowing those who only dreamed of building to fulfill their ambition.

Japanese builder Keinosuke ‘Keino’ Sasaki collaborated with Yamaha to build the sublime ‘Rhapsody in blue’ XJR1300 concept, providing inspiration for the next generation XJR.

Next to the XJR sits the XJR Racer, inspired by Deus Ex Machina Italy’s take on the XJR1300, the retro race ‘Eau Rouge’ concept.

Custom Inspired

The XV950 also receives some very special Yard Built treatment with a stunning concept ‘El Ratón Asesino’ by legendary German builder Marcus Walz providing valuable inspiration to Yamaha for future production models.

2015 is set to be a big year with more concepts from the world’s top custom builders arriving on the scene to further inspire both Yamaha and those looking to make their own unique machines.

The Wrenchmonkees, JvB-moto, Roland Sands and El Solitario are just a few of the names collaborating with Yamaha on new Yard Built concepts created from models in the Sports Heritage range for the coming year.

This fast and monstrously powerful machine continues in the traditions of the original VMAX from 1985, with head-turning looks and a distinctive growl.

The current incarnation puts a bigger engine in a more compact chassis to give awesome acceleration and precise handling. It comes with a 1,679cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke V4 engine that delivers huge torque and gives the rider previously unimaginable levels of power.

And that power is all contained within a dramatic, black, low-profile aluminium frame with giant front forks and massive, aggressively-styled aluminium air intakes. This is a muscle bike for the 21st century. Rigid forks

The massive tubes on the front forks are perfectly in keeping with this bike’s unique character. They also offer excellent rigidity and the front suspension delivers a smooth ride, great handling, and is fully adjustable for preload, to suit the riders own requirements.

Mighty mufflersThe four single-expansion mufflers are short and upswept, and emit a strong and pleasing exhaust sound with a hearty pulsing sensation that announces your presence. The high quality silencers are manufactured from lightweight titanium, and finished in shot blast to complement the mean and moody look of the black frame and engine.

Low-profile frameThe VMAX is a dramatic machine. Its black, low-profile aluminium frame spars arc forcefully across the top, while the giant tubes on the front forks are like nothing else seen on any other bike. Its unique character is further emphasised by four massive, aggressively-styled, hand-finished aluminium air intakes.

Full powerThe 1,679cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke V4 engine offers huge torque from a visually intimidating powerplant. Iridium spark plugs ensure extremely efficient combustion at all engine speeds - and for the rider, this means previously unimaginable levels of power, whether from a standing-start or roll-on acceleration.

Born with muscles

Back in 1985 Yamaha launched a groundbreaking bike that shocked the world. With its brutal V4 engine, raw style and awesome performance, the original VMAX brought drag-bike levels of acceleration to the street.

30 years on and the latest VMAX is still the ultimate muscle bike. With its 200PS 1,679cc V4 engine and advanced aluminium chassis, the next generation VMAX is built to deliver adrenaline-charged performance together with unrivalled street presence.

Now we’re taking the concept one step further with the remarkable 30th anniversary VMAX Carbon. Fitted with exclusive bodywork and thundering Akrapovic slip-on mufflers, this iconic Sport Heritage muscle bike has no equal. 4-into-2 exhaust with Akrapovic mufflers

The mighty 1,679cc V4 engine is the heart and soul of the VMAX, and for an even more spine tingling exhaust growl the VMAX Carbon is fitted with upswept Akrapovic slip-on mufflers. Developed exclusively for this 200PS engine, these compact mufflers give the VMAX Carbon a distinctive look and sound.

Matt black aluminium frameThe twin spar aluminium frame features a diamond-type layout that gives an excellent balance of rigidity for sure-footed handling characteristics. Finished in matt black, the strong aluminium frame arcs above the massive V4 engine to underline the brutal and uncompromising muscle bike looks of this groundbreaking machine.

Exclusive carbon bodyworkWhat distinguishes the VMAX Carbon from the stock bike is its new carbon bodywork that gives added style and exclusivity. The tank cover, front and rear fenders and side covers are all manufactured from lightweight carbon fibre that complements the black engine, chassis and wheels for an even more iconic look.

200PS, 1679cc, V4 engineThis is the most powerful production V4 engine ever built by Yamaha - and it is what makes the VMAX Carbon the most desirable and revered muscle bike on the street. Pushing out 200PS at 9,000rpm and delivering 17kg-m of torque at 6,500rpm, this massive 1,679cc V4 liquid-cooled engine is ready to deliver explosive acceleration at your command.

The XJR1300 is back as the latest offering in the Sports Heritage Range. 20 years of evolution have delivered a stunning take on the iconic machine. Featuring the largest displacement inline-4 air-cooled engine in the market, the raw power and stripped back muscle bike styling sets the latest XJR apart.

The XJR1300’s slim racer-style fuel tank and aluminium handlebars show off the aggressive large displacement air-cooled muscular engine.

A solo-seat styled design is complemented with an aluminium side cover in the style of a seventies racer number plate with three mesh inserts. The look is complete with a black 4-2-1 exhaust and new styled tail design. Sculpted solo-seat style

Every aspect of the latest XJR is influenced by the stripped back, simplified style and the new seat is no exception. A beautifully sculpted design gives the appearance of a single seat with retro stitching lines and a riding position that matches the sporty ride.

4-2-1 matt black exhaust systemThe 2015 machine’s stripped back style reflecting the iconic racers of the past is enhanced by the matt black four into one exhaust pipes and muffler. The muffler is finished with a newly designed, substantial end cap, completing the look.

Slim fuel tank designThe fuel tank of the XJR1300 has been redesigned and now has a narrower, sleeker look. The new compact, minimalist design offers a concave knee pocket based on old race machines. The slimmer look means the rider is now even more aware of the impressive engine, seemingly straddling it directly.

Muscular, powerful, air-cooled, inline-4 engineThe beating heart of the XJR1300 is the DOHC 4-valve, air-cooled 4-stroke, 4-cylinder engine. This is the largest displacement of any on the market. With maximum torque reached at 6,000 rpm, the XJR1300 has a broad range of torque on offer right from the off.

The XJR1300 is back! 20 years of evolution have delivered a stunning take on the icon. With the largest displacement inline-4 air-cooled engine in the market, the raw power commands respect.

Yamaha’s search for innovation has led to collaborations with the world’s most talented custom bike builders, including Deus Ex Machina who created the beautiful Eau Rouge and provided inspiration for the XJR1300 Racer.

The carbon cowling and front fender, racer tank and clip-on bars show off the air-cooled engine. The riding position is focused, with a narrower, more forward sportier feel. A shorter tail adds to the muscular silhouette with the narrower front tank. Slim fuel tank design

Aluminium Clip-on BarsThe XJR Racer gets a cool set of aluminium clip-on bars to drop the riding position slightly and leave the rider in a very purposeful stance. Visually cool, the bars also add to the sporty riding experience.

Carbon Fibre Front CowlingA stunning carbon fibre cowling takes centre stage at the front of the XJR1300 Racer. The lightweight, premium material complements the build quality of the motorcycle and defines it as a true street racer icon.

Featuring timeless bobber-inspired looks and powered by a beautifully crafted air-cooled, V-twin engine, the XV950 is the definitive modern retro. With its minimalist chassis and physically huge powerplant, the XV950 is a timeless classic.

Compact and stylish with a low seat height, the XV950 delivers a refined and agile ride while retaining the character that is a critical part of owning such an individual machine. Yamaha’s flat line style and use of exposed metal components accentuates the bike’s pure simplicity while the V-twin motor provides spirited performance and unquestioned reliability. Stripped back and stylish, the XV950 provides a perfect entry into the world of customisation.

New double cradle steel frameThe V-twin engine has a rigid mount system to allow it to transfer the motor’s pulse through to the rider. A short wheelbase provides a light and agile ride for maximum manoeuverability as well as a neutral and stable feeling when cruising. Upfront 41 mm conventional style forks compliment the traditional look of the twin shock absorbers.

Re-modelled exhaust system and 3D ECU mapsNew 3D maps for the ignition timing and fuel injection increase the V-twin engine’s already excellent acceleration in the mid and low-speed ranges, optimising its urban performance. To match this new fuel mapping, and further boost low to mid-range acceleration, the XV950 also features a newly designed 2-into-1 exhaust pipe layout.

Belt driveThe rubber damped clutch reduces rider fatigue while the belt drive system transmits the power to the rear wheel. The belt ensures a quiet and smooth deliver with the minimum of maintenance or cleaning.

Fuel-injected V-twin engineThe air-cooled 60-degree V-twin engine produces 80 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm, making it ideal for urban use as well as spirited performance outside of the city’s limits. With a capacity of 58-cubic-inches (942cc) the motor’s cylinders have a composite plating while the piston is built from forged aluminium for reliability as well as performance.

The big single has always held a special place in the hearts of motorcyclists. And when we launched the original Yamaha SR400 over 30 years ago it became a favourite with riders who yearned for a simple, agile and engaging motorcycle.

Over the years the huge level of interest in the SR has never gone away. And now the Yamaha SR400 is ready to become an integral part of the daily lives of a whole new generation of riders who appreciate its enduring appeal.

This timeless retro just oozes charm and authenticity wherever you look. And as the basis for creating your own café racer, bobber or street scrambler, the SR400 offers endless possibilities.

Tubular high tensile steel semi-double cradle frameOne reason the original SR400 has become such an immensely popular model throughout the world is because riders of all ages and experience levels appreciate its light and slim body. This is made possible by the compact tubular high-tensile steel semi-double cradle frame which also doubles up as an oil tank to save space.

Fuel injection for good economy and smooth runningWhile remaining true to the SR400’s original design and concept, we have also taken the opportunity to make a number of technical improvements such as the fitment of fuel injection and transistor ignition for good economy and easy starting. And for reduced emissions the chrome exhaust system features a 3-way catalyser.

Air-cooled 4-stroke single-cylinder engineYou’ll often hear of a motorcycle’s engine being described as being its heart and nowhere is this more true than with the SR400. Not only does the air-cooled SOHC single cylinder engine thump away at low revs like a heartbeat, but it also gives this timeless classic its engaging character and enduring appeal.

Retro style with authentic designUnlike some retro bikes that are modern interpretations of older designs, the SR400 is an authentic living classic which has been constructed to virtually the same specification as the original model. With its air-cooled engine and twin-shock chassis, this timeless big single represents a return to motorcycling’s core values.

Whatever the emergency, help is just a phone call away, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Your personal route to - Personal Contract Purchase (PCP). A more flexible way to finance your new Yamaha where you choose the option that suits your circumstances at the end of the agreement.

How does it work?1. Choose your bike (used bikes up to 3 years old also qualify).2. Establish your annual mileage – from 1,000 to 24,000 miles per year.3. Choose your repayment period, 2, 3 or 4 years.

How much will it cost?1. You provide a deposit.2. Your Yamaha dealer will advise you of your regular monthly repayments including your final repayment.3. You pay regular monthly repayments over the agreed term.

At the end of the agreement you have 3 options:1. Pay the final lump sum repayment – you now own the bike.2. Return the bike to Yamaha-Finance.

3. Part-exchange the bike for a new one. Subject to payment of your outstanding finance. New finance agreements are subject to status.
