Satin FinishSatin finish is produced by sandblasting the surface of a brass or aluminum shell followed by decorative chrome plating. The mechanical abrasion achieved by sandblasting provides a smooth matte finish to the otherwise shinier feel of chrome-based outer layer.

Hand-Polished Lacquer CoatingLacquer coatings, comprised of organic resins (polyester, acrylic and urethanes) and pigments, provide the vibrancy, depth, and smooth texture of stunning jewel-like finishes.

Powder Coatingpowder coating is typically more durable than liquid (lacquer) coatings due to its relative thickness. Finely ground dry particles (epoxy, polyester, etc.) are electrostatically charged and sprayed onto brass shells, giving a softer yet textured feel to these understated matte finishes.

LuminaLumina coating incorporates dual lacquer technologies, giving the product a charming soft luminescence. The base coat provides the great adhesion to the brass and the lacquered topcoat lends a sophisticated sheen of mica – the result is a perfect blend of depth and reflection.

Chrome PlatingChrome plating is an electrochemical process where metallic chrome is deposited on caps, barrels and appointments (cap rings, clips and points). The process produces highly wear-resistant finishes that maintain their brightness throughout the life of the product.

PVDpvd (physical vapor deposition) is a process by which an alloy of super hard Titanium is applied to the metal substrate of our pens. Color varieties (blue black, champagne) are produced from various alloys of titanium.

High Gloss, Crystalline ResinResin is a process of heated compounds that can be formed and shaped. The pen silhouette is formed and shaped with precision balance for writing ease. This high gloss crystalline resin offers a unique jewel-like sparkle that enhances the pen’s appearance and provides a smooth texture.

Cross offers a variety of precious Metals in our Classic Century, Century II, and Townsend product lines. These collections are made from the finest and most precious metals on earth. From Sterling Silver to platinum plated to 10k, 14k, and 18k Gold, both Filled/Rolled and Solid, these items have long served as the hallmark of Cross craftsmanship, beauty, and renown. Some points of differentiation in the precious Metals Collection:

Sterling SilverSterling silver must contain 92.5% silver. The balance can be any other material, but is mostly copper for increased durability. These pens have a softer feel to them, and carry an elegance that grows with age.

Platinum PlatedA contemporary update to the 100 year old technique of electroplating, the use of platinum provides a clean, universal shine that is unmatched in any other precious metal. perhaps the most in-demand of the precious metals collection, platinum offers elegance, style, and versatility.

RhodiumRhodium, like Gold is a noble precious metal with a bright white color. It is non tarnishing and will remain shiny throughout its life.

10K GoldGold composition is based on a 24 part scale. 10k Gold contains 10 parts Gold and 14 parts other metals, thus is 41.7% Gold. due to this mix in composition, 10k gold is both harder than other Gold designations and also less precious, and is easily recognized in our Townsend, Century, and Century II lines by the full-size black lacquer dome on the top of the cap.

14K GoldContaining 14 parts Gold and 10 parts other metal(s), 14k Gold meters out at 58.3% pure Gold. The most popular and versatile composition, this finish contains a slight rose hue and is notable by the half-sized black lacquer dome on the top of the caps in our Century and Century II collections.

18K GoldThe closest Cross offers to pure 24k Gold, our stunning 18k Gold offerings are 75% pure Gold. A much softer metal than the other Gold offerings in our line, its shade is the Gold most commonly associated with the metal itself. Notable by a single black lacquer band around the top of the cap in our Townsend and Century lines. The 18k offerings mark the finest in quality and are true heirlooms.

Gold Filled or Rolled GoldAlso called gold overlay. A layer of either 10k, 14k or 18k Gold is permanently bonded by heat and pressure to the surface of a support metal, then rolled or drawn to a prescribed thickness. The result is a higher Gold content than would be achievable through Gold plating, and due to the strength of the metal to which it is bonded, is actually stronger than solid Gold. Gold Filled provides the look and feel of solid Gold, but without the natural softness and sensitivity of this precious metal.

Solid GoldThe cap and barrel of the pens are100% 18k Gold. While the content of the Gold itself is not pure Gold in our 18k offerings, the pen shells are made of 18k Gold.

Heavy Gold Electroplateheavy gold electroplate is an electrochemical process where metallic gold is deposited onto brass cap and barrel shells. This process produces a highly wear-resistant finish that is three times the thickness of standard electroplated gold.

Ballpoint Pen• The Ballpoint is the most popular tip technology and in many ways the simplest. A Ballpoint pen uses a small rotating ball made of carbide to disperse ink as you write. This ball acts as a buffer between the material you’re writing on and the ink inside the pen. The ball rotates freely and rolls out the ink as it is continuously fed from the ink reservoir. • Ballpoint Pens are not capped, but instead retract and store via a rotating mechanism in the barrel. • Low maintenance and easily refillable, the Ballpoint Pen is the option for the everyday pen user.

Selectip® Rolling Ball• Our most versatile tip technology is proprietary to Cross, and is known as Selectip Rolling Ball. A Selectip allows you to “select” the kind of refill you want to use in this writing instrument from the following options: — Rolling Ball (a mix of Ballpoint ease of use and the elegance of Fountain pen ink-flow) — Jumbo Ballpoint (Ballpoint technology with a bolder, fuller write-out) — document Marker (or hi-Lighter) — porous-point (most commonly known as a Flair or Marker point)• The inks in a roller ball are generally aqueous based. This results in a smoother, fluid (or wet) lay-down of ink similar to a Fountain Pen. All Cross writing instruments have an area on the cap for engraving. Standard caps accept one line of engraving. The barrel section of writing instruments cannot be engraved.

Engraving methods for precious metal caps include drag, deep-cut without color, deep-cut enamel filled and laser.

drag engraving offers a choice of block, script and double-line Gothic type styles.

For deep-cut, enamel-filled engraving, type styles include block, script and Times Regular. Color-fill options vary by product. 18k, 14k and 10k Gold Filled/Rolled Gold writing instruments may be color-filled with black, blue, red or green. Sterling silver, silver plated, platinum plated, Medalist and chrome plated finishes accept gold tone. Lacquer finishes with gold plated appointments are color-filled with gold tone. Lacquer and satin finishes with rhodium or chrome plated appointments are filled with silver tone.

Laser engraving on verve Selenium Blue appears as gold tone. This finish may also be personalized with deep-cut, color-filled engraving with silver tone. Block and script type styles are available. Laser-style engraving does not accept color-fill.

Any Cross accessory or part requiring service under this warranty will be repaired or replaced at no charge when received from the consumer at our factory. postage and insurance are the responsibility of the consumer, and shipping and handling fees may apply. Any such product that is no longer in production and cannot be repaired will be replaced with a comparable Cross product. Logos, engraving and other decorations are excluded from this warranty, as are parts damaged from impact, unreasonable use or obvious abuse and materials which become worn in the course of normal use.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights which vary from state to state or jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

All Cross writing instruments and desk set penholder mechanisms are unquestionably guaranteed against mechanical failure, regardless of age. Any Cross product or part requiring service under this warranty will be repaired or replaced at no charge when received at our factory from the consumer (postage and insurance are the responsibility of the consumer, and shipping and handling fees may apply). Any such product that is no longer in production and cannot be repaired will be replaced with a comparable Cross product. Leads, erasers and ink refills exhausted in the course of normal use, and emblems and other customized decoration, are excluded from this warranty; also excluded are fountain pen nibs and other parts damaged from impact, unreasonable use or obvious abuse. The Cross guarantee extends our assurance of a lifetime of writing pleasure to every owner of a Cross writing instrument.

This Cross timepiece is warranted by Cross to the original owner to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use for a period of two years from date of receipt. during the warranty period the product will be repaired or replaced (with the same or similar model) at our option, without charge for either parts or labor.

Excluded from this warranty are timepiece bracelet, strap, crystal, case, battery, any timepiece accessories, emblems or customized decoration and timepieces or parts damaged from impact, unreasonable use or obvious abuse. damage not resulting from a defect in material or workmanship, damage caused by tampering or damage resulting from repairs not performed by Cross are not covered by this warranty. Cross disclaims liability for consequential damages for breach of any express or implied warranty, including warranty of merchantability, with respect to this timepiece. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of consequential damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

Cross limits the duration of any implied warranty, including the implied warranty of merchantability, to two years from the date of receipt. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts so the above limitation may not apply to you.
