The Social Justice Committee met on Monday,

January 20, 2020 in the Parish Center. The

committee meets the third Monday of each month at

5:30 and welcomes anyone who would like to

promote social justice! A lot has been happening to

support those in need in our community and beyond.

The Angel Tree donations were amazing. Thanks for

all who removed an angel from the tree, purchased

gifts and returned them. Your donations helped five

families receive gifts for Christmas. Shoes That

Grow were ordered and have been received and

boxed for shipment. Children will receive much

needed shoes that will grow with them as they grow

(they grow five sizes!). One box of Shoes That Grow

will be delivered to Malawi where our parish

supports Mary’s Meals. This is the program that

feeds children daily as they attend school. Shoes will

also be flown to Haiti by GoServ Global for children in

need of shoes. GoServ Global is the organization that

builds Safe-T-Homes. St. Patrick’s has purchased

two homes in Haiti.

Alice Child, Sara Sychowski and her daughter Natasha

Cornell at the Marsh for Life in Washington, DC. They

were part of a group of 47 from North Iowa that

participated.

These are the Newman Students that participated in the

liturgy Sunday, January 26 as a start to Catholic

Education Week. Great job everyone.
