• Osmosis adalah perpindahan air melalui membran sel yang berlangsung dari larutan yang mempunyai konsentrasi tinggi ke larutan yang mempunyai konsentrasi rendah.
• Konsentrasi dari larutan yang mengelilingi atau berada di sekitar sel akan mempengaruhi osmosis.
• Konsentrasi disini adalah konsentrasi pelarutnya yaitu air bukan konsentrasi dari zat yang larut atau molekul ionnya.

Osmosis
Water diffuses from the hypotonic solution
to the hypertonic solution Diffusion of water across a selectively permeable membrane (a special case of passive transport)
Hypertonic = solution with A higher concentration of solutes
Hypotonic = solution with a lower concentration of
solutes
Hypotonic solution has more‘unbound’ water molecules… Free to move across the membrane
Depends on TOTAL solute concentration!

LARUTAN HIPERTONIK
• suatu keadaan dimana konsentrasi di dalam sel
lebih kecil daripada di luar sel.
• Sel yang berada pada larutan hipertonik,
maka sel banyak kehilangan molekul air,
sehingga sel menjadi kecil yang disebut
dengan krenasi

LARUTAN HIPOTONIK
• Suatu keadaan dimana konsentrasi
didalam sel lebih kecil daripada diluar sel
• Sel yang terdapat pada larutan yang
hipotonik, maka sel tersebut akan
mendapatkan banyak air, sehingga bisa
menyebabkan lisis (pada sel hewan), atau
turgiditas tinggi (pada sel tumbuhan).

• Suatu keadaan dimana konsentrasi
didalam dan diluar sel sama
• Sel yang terletak pada larutan isotonik,
maka volumenya akan konstan. Dalam hal
ini, sel akan mendapat dan kehilangan air
yang sama
