BEAUTY AND THE BEASTOnce upon a time, there was a beautiful girl named Beauty. She lived with her two sisters

and her father in a small village. She was also a hard working girl. She always helped her father in the farm

One day her father left for the city. He saw an old castle. He became curious to know who was inside, and he went in. While he was walking around the castle, he met nobody inside, Knowing that there was none inside, he ate the food on the table and picked a rose from the garden for Beauty. Then an angry beast appeared and wanted to kill him unless Beauty was brought to him.

After reaching his home, Beauty's father told her the truth. Beauty loved her father very much, so she didn't refuse what her father asked. She went to the Beast castle and lived there only with the Beast. Her miserable life had begun since then. She often tried to run away but she was always stopped by the Beast.

The Settler MuseumWhere the Past Becomes the Present

Come and experience life in the early American West.

The Log CabinStep inside our log cabin to see how the first settlers lived. Sit in handmade wooden chairs around the kitchen table. Help grind corn to make cornmeal. Learn how the settlers made butter by using a butter churn. Watch how family meals were cooked in the fireplace.

You will also find a wooden trunk full of clothes like those the settlers wore. See the aprons, bonnets, and long-sleeved dresses worn by women, and the shirts, suspenders, straw hats, and woolen trousers worn by men.

Special Events

Tuesdays and ThursdaysLearn about tools used outside the log cabin. Museum staff will demonstrate how the first settlers sharpened their tools on a grinding wheel, cut logs with a bow saw, and stripped the bark from logs with a drawknife.Saturdays

What does your teacher wear to school?

Many teachers in public schools in Indonesia wear formal public service uniforms or batik shirts for special occasions. In some private schools not only the students but also the teachers wear a uniform.

Teachers in government schools in Australia don't wear uniforms. Each school has its own dress code for staff. Sometimes this is quite strict but sometimes it's very casual. When I first taught in Australia I was very surprised at what some teachers wore. It was summer when I arrived in Australia and many of the teachers wore very casual clothes to work. Some men and women wore sleeveless tops or tank tops and some even wore shorts. They wore casual sandals and sometimes jeans too. I never wanted to wear them even though it is accepted in Australia.’

The One Computer Per Child project offers children in remote areas a laptop for only $US 100 each piece. These laptops are designed for areas where electricity and telephone connections are limited. Around 5.000 laptops have already been sent to South America, Libya, Nigeria and Thailand. The laptops have a wind-up handle to provide the electricity needed to run the machine.

The sponsor of this project is from richer countries to help poorer countries. For example, Finland is sponsoring laptops and computers for children in Namibia. In a similar project in the UK, Schools Minister Jim Knight will look at how the government, the computer industry and education charities can work together. They would like to ensure that every child in poor countries is able to use computer and has access to the internet either at home or at afternoon school clubs.

There are only small differences between the Mountain Gorillas and Lowland Gorillas. The Mountain Gorillas have adapted to living in the high mountains of the Virunga Volcanoes and the Bwindi National Park in Uganda. As a result, the Mountain Gorillas have longer hair, wider mouths, larger noses, bigger chests, shorter arms and shorter, wider hands and feet than the Lowland Gorillas.

Mountain Gorillas are vegetarian. They eat about 200 types of leaves, flowers, plants, fruit and some insects. Gorillas do not drink water. They get all the water they need from the leaves and other things they eat. They eat a lot. Male gorillas eat about 23 kg every day.

They sleep a lot, too. They usually sleep from about six o’clock in the evening until six or eight o’clock the next morning. During the day, they eat, play, sleep and travel through the jungle. Gorillas are nomadic and can travel up to 1.83 km a day. They build new nests each evening in trees or on the ground

Mountain Gorillas live in family groups of 3-30. They learn from their mothers and other adults what to eat, how to behave and how to look after their young. They care for their young very well. They are shy and gentle animals. The only time a male gorilla is dangerous and aggressive is to protect their family – especially the babies and young gorillas.

Mountain Gorillas are usually quiet. However, they can make about 25 different noises and each noise has a meaning. They make a certain grunting noise when they are happy. They make a different noise when they are curious about something and want to find out what it is. They make one of their loudest noises when they think there is some danger.
