Definisi: suatu keilmuan interdisiplin ilmu teknikdari mekanika dan elektronika yang diintergrasikan dalam arsitektur sistem kendaliuntuk tujuan mendesain produk yang memilikifungsionalitas khusus dalam sensor, pendorong, kinematic dan pneumatic.Contoh terapan:
• Militer dan pertahanan• Industri eksplorasi bumi dan kelautan• Pendidikan dan universitas• Kesehatan dan kedokteran• Wahana bermain• Mesin fotokopi

Teknik Mekatronika merupakan cabangbidang keilmuan teknik yang diturunkandari dasar keilmuan mesin dandipengaruhi oleh dominasi teknik sistemkendali berbasis elektronika dengandidukung bidang komputer H/W, pengolahan sinyal, dan sensor.Dasar keilmuan Teknik Mekatronika: matematika, fisika mekanika, elektronika, sistem komputer, dan logika matematika.
