Simple Future Tense• It is used to explain things that will happen in the future.

• Can use to be + going to if the thing that we plan is sure, with pattern :

• (+) S + to be + going to + v1 + o + adv• (-) S + to be + not + going to + v1 + o + adv• (?) to be + S + going to + v1 + o + adv

• Example :

• (+) I am going to have a remedial test soon.• ( Saya akan segera mengikuti tes remedial segera. )

• (-) I am not going to have a remedial test soon.• ( Saya tidak akan mengikuti tes remedial segera. )

• (?) Are you going to have a remedial test soon ? )• ( Apakah kamu akan segera mengikuti tes remedial

segera? )

• Can use will if the thing that we plan isn’t sure yet, with pattern :• (+) S + will + v1 + O + adv

• (-) S + will + not + v1 + O + adv• (?) Will + S + v1 + O + adv

• Example :• (+) She will attend the festival next week.• ( Dia akan mendatangi festival tersebut minggu depan. )

• (-) She will not attend the festival next week.• ( Dia tidak akan mendatangi festival tersebut minggu depan. )

• (?) Will she attend the festival next week? • ( Apakah dia akan mendatangi festival tersebut minggu depan? )

Simple Present Continuous Tense• It is used to explain things that is happening right in the moment.

• Pattern :• (+) S + to be + v1 + ing + O + adv• (-) S + to be + not + v1 + ing + O + adv• (?) To be + S + v1 + ing + O + adv

• I am• You, we , they are• She, he, it is

• Example :

• (+) They are playing rugby at the field now.• ( Mereka sedang bermain rugby di lapangan

sekarang. )

• (-) They are not playing rugby at the field now.• ( Mereka tidak sedang bermain rugby di lapangan

sekarang. )

• (?) Are they playing rugby at the field now?• ( Apakah mereka sedang bermain rugby di lapangan

sekarang? )

• (+) He is watching the news on TV at the moment.• (Dia sedang menonton berita di TV pada saat itu. )

• (-) He is not watching the news on TV at the moment.

• ( Dia tidak sedang menonton berita di TV pada saat itu. )

• (?) Is he watching the news on TV at the moment?• ( Apakah dia sedang menonton berita di TV pada

saat itu? )

• (+) I am drinking a cup of coffee right now.• ( Saya sedang minum secangkir kopi saat ini. )

• (-) I am not drinking a cupof coffee right now.• ( Saya tidak sedang minum secangkir kopi saat ini. )

• (?) Are you drinking a cup of coffee right now?• ( Apakah kamu sedang minum secangkir kopi saat

ini? )

Simple Perfect Tense• It is used to explain things that happen in the past with no

time signal ; to explain someone who has or hadn’t done something in the past with no time signal.

• Pattern :• (+) S + have / has + v3 + O + adv

• (-) S + have / has + not + v3 + O + adv

• (?) Have / has + S + v3 + O +adv

• I, you, we , they have• She, he, it has

• Example :

• (+) You have played the game for twice.• ( Kamu telah memainkan permainan tersebut dua

kali. )

• (-) You have not played the game for twice.• ( Kamu belum pernah memainkan permainan tersebut

dua kali. )

• (?) Have you played the game for twice?• ( Pernahkah kamu memainkan permainan tersebut dua

kali? )

• (+) The cat has eaten the dry food actually.• ( Sebenarnya kucing itu telahpernah makan

keringan. )

• (-) The cat has not eaten the dry food actually.• ( Sebenarnya kucing itu belum pernah makan

keringan. )

• (?) Has the cat eaten the dry food actually?• ( Sebenarnya pernahkah kucing itu makan keringan?

Simple Past Perfect Tense• It is used to explain things that have been done in

the past with currect time signal.

• Pattern :• (+) S + had + v3 + O + adv

• (-) S + had + not + v3 + O + adv

• (?) Had + S + v3 + O + adv

• Example :

• (+) We had fixed the broken pipe yesterday.• ( Kami telah memperbaiki pipa yang rusak

kemarin. )

• (-) We had not fixed the broken pipe yesterday.• ( Kami belum memperbaiki pipa yang rusak

kemarin. )

• (?) Had we fixed the broken pipe yesterday?• ( Sudahkah kami memperbaiki pipa yang rusak

kemarin? )

Simple Perfect Continuous Tense

Simple Past Tense• It is used to explain things that happen in the past with currect time

signal.

• I, she, he, it was ; did• You, we, they were ; did

• Pattern :• (+) S + v2 + O + adv• S + was / were + adj + adv• (-) S + did + not + v1 + O + adv• S + was / were + not + adj + adv• (?) Did + S + v1 + O + adv• Was / were + S + adj + adv

• Example :

• (+) She made an apple pie for us a week ago.• ( Dia membuatkan kami pai apel minggu lalu. )

• (-) She did not make an apple pie for us a week ago.• ( Dia tidak membuatkan kami pai apel minggu lalu. )

• (?) Did she make an apple pie for us a week ago?• ( Apakah dia membuatkan kami pai apel minggu

lalu? )

• (+) I was sad when you said it yesterday.• ( Saya sedih kemarin saat kamu mengatakan itu

kemarin. )

• (-) I was not sad when you said it yesterday.• ( Saya tidak sedih saat kamu mengatakan itu

kemarin. )

• (?) Were you sad when I said it yesterday?• ( Apakah kamu sedih saat saya mengatakan itu

kemarin? )
